25.01.2022 Over the last few months many people will not have been able to catch up with friends and family members for some time. These are often the people who will first notice any changes in your ability to cope. For now, you will need to do those check-ins yourselves. Here are six things you should check-in on weekly. 1. Feelings: Set an alarm on your phone, or a reminder in your calendar, so at a set time each week you can quickly do a check in on a scale from 0 (‘not at all’) to... 10 (‘extremely’) of how stressed, anxious or down you are feeling. 2. Body: Take a moment to notice any tension in your body like tight shoulders, chest, or jaw. Other signs that you might be feeling stressed include dryness of the mouth, difficulty breathing, and a racing heart. 3. Sleep: Have there been changes in your sleep pattern? If you are constantly struggling to get to sleep, waking in the night or waking earlier than usual and finding it difficult to get back to sleep, these are signs your mind is unable to switch off and relax. 4. Thoughts: Are you always worrying about the worst-case scenarios? Wondering if things will ever get better or if you will be able to cope? 5. Reactions/behaviour: Every day brings challenges but it’s how we deal with them which shows how we’re coping. If you find yourself frequently snapping at those you love, finding it extremely difficult to focus, or always depending on things like alcohol or food to cope, it is time to prioritise your mental wellbeing. 6. Check-in buddy: Choose a check-in buddy. This may be your partner, housemate or even a friend or colleague you’re keeping in touch with via video messaging. Be honest about how you are coping. . . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #MentalHealthmonth #Anxiety See more
25.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe and happy new year! With the clinic closed until the 6th January all calls and emails will be responded to when the office reopens for 2021. We would like to thank all our amazing clients who adjusted to the changes in the way we had to conduct therapy over the last year, we believe it was a successful transition to virtual therapy and allowed more people within our community to gain access to a psychologist during this challenging time. We are looki...ng forward to 2021 & we hope you are too! 24.01.2022 Due to a number of factors including social norms, upbringing and the role models we are presented with, some men’s mental health issues have gone unrecognised for a long time. Through common phrases we hear like ‘chin up’, ‘pull your socks up’ and the like, we’ve been taught that many ‘head issues’ are nothing to worry about and should be dismissed. There is a growing recognition that mental health concerns are in fact serious issues and the culture of dismissal is a dangero...us approach, but many men are still not aware of some of the most common indicators that there’s a problem that should be dealt with before it grows into something bigger. Loneliness : Many of us have been there, but few recognise just how serious isolation and loneliness can be. Now more commonly referred to as ‘social isolation’, loneliness in its more severe forms is now seen as a contributor to many social ills including violence, suicide and substance abuse. Stress: Stress is a feeling of being under pressure and overwhelmed. Stress is experienced when there is an imbalance between what’s being asked of us and our ability to deliver or cope with the demands. This causes discomfort and distress and can lead to other men’s mental health problems including anxiety and depression. Anxiety: The most common men’s mental health issue in Australia, anxiety is a consistent state of extreme worry or fear about perceived threats, that is usually out of proportion to the reality of the situation. Most common men’s mental health issues can be successfully treated and there’s heaps of great information out there about different strategies and techniques that can help. Everyone struggles at times the key is to reach out for help as early as possible to increase the chances of a faster recovery. . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #MentalHealth #Anxiety See more
23.01.2022 Mental health is not fixed or static. It is sometimes talked about as a continuum or a range, where good mental health is at one end of the spectrum characterised by feeling and functioning well. At the other end, mental health conditions, particularly when they are not managed well, are represented by symptoms that negatively affect people’s thoughts, feelings and behaviour. We can move back and forth along this continuum at different times during our lives. To cope with ...the stresses of work and overcome life’s daily challenges, it is important we stay as mentally well as possible. This can help us better overcome challenges, build healthy relationships and work more productively. Some tips for taking care of your mental health are; Get plenty of sleep Eat well Avoid alcohol, smoking and drugs Get plenty of sunlight Activity and exercise Connect with others and be sociable . . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #MentalHealthMonth See more
22.01.2022 There is a lot that 2020 has taught us about ourselves, our relationships, our passions and our values. As we made our 2019 New Year’s resolutions we had nothing but hope for not just a fresh year, but a fresh decade to make our own. More memories, more adventures, more travel! 2020 however, had other plans. If we could take the pandemic away in an instant we would, but we can’t and so instead we look for the silver lining. From tough times come tough lessons, personal growth... and learning opportunities. What 2020 Has Taught Us To Do More Of.. Enjoy nature more. ... Love our Local area more. ... Being More Kind. ... 22.01.2022 Our minds are always interpreting the world around us, trying to make sense of events. Sometimes we see the world accurately as it really is but often our minds take ‘short cuts’ and our thinking can become biased. These biases or ‘cognitive distortions’ can have powerful effects upon how we feel. Aaron Beck first identified distorted thinking in people suffering from depression in the 1960’s. It formed a central part of his cognitive theory of depression, and later, cogn...itive behavioral therapy (CBT). Distorted thinking has been found to be associated with all types of mental health problems: from depression and anxiety to OCD and eating disorders. Cognitive therapy proposes that thoughts, feelings, and behavior are inter-related and that changing unhelpful thinking can lead to changes in feelings and behavior. . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #MentalHealth #anxiety See more

20.01.2022 If you or a loved has bipolar disorder, you know how important it is to manage mood episodes with bipolar medications and healthy lifestyle habits. Bipolar disorder is a complex disorder that's defined by dramatic or unusual mood episodes of highs and lows. The episodes of mania and depression can range from very mild to extreme in their intensity and severity. There is no specific bipolar diet. Nevertheless, it is important to make wise dietary choices that will help you m...aintain a healthy weight and stay well. These choices include: Avoiding the "Western" style diet that's rich in red meats, saturated fats and trans fats, and simple carbohydrates. Eating a balance of protective, nutrient-dense foods. These foods include fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, lean meats, cold-water fish, eggs, low-fat dairy, soy products, and nuts and seeds. Watching caloric intake and exercising regularly to maintain a healthy weight. Some findings show that those with bipolar disorder may have a greater risk for being overweight or obese. Fish oil can help keep your heart healthy. But some experts also believe that fish oil might play a role in brain function and behaviour. . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #bipolar #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #MentalHealth #Anxiety See more
20.01.2022 Fear is an emotion we have in response to real or perceived threat, whereas anxiety is the anticipation of a future threat. Fear is an emotion we have in response to real or perceived threat, whereas anxiety is the anticipation of a future threat. It is common to experience anxiety when faced with stressful situations. People experiencing an anxiety disorder find that their anxiety gets in the way of their daily life and stops them from achieving their full potential. Anxiety disorders are one of the most common mental health problems experienced by young people. They are characterised by excessive fear and related difficulties that happen a lot of the time, feel overwhelming and interfere with daily life. 20.01.2022 With 91% of young people using the internet for social networking and rates of depression and anxiety in young people having risen by more than 70% in the past 25 years, talk of whether there’s a link between social media use and depression is becoming more frequent. Is social media to blame for the rise in rates of depression and anxiety in young people? One of the commonly suspected reasons for social media use contributing to feelings of jealousy and missing out on experie...nces is that many people only post the ‘highlights’ of their lives online and keep unflattering or real issues they may be facing to themselves. Some people believe that the solution for those who feel negatively impacted by using social media is to just stop using the platforms. However, it’s virtually impossible to do so for some of people, with many workplaces incorporating social media networking into day-to-day business. While social media sites offer an important link to friendship groups and for many just scrolling through their friends’ posts can reduce feelings of isolation, if it is having the opposite effect, it’s important to take action. ‘If someone is finding that they feel down or have a decreased sense of self-worth after visiting social media sites, they should take some time to curate a newsfeed that won’t be detrimental.’ . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #socialmedia
18.01.2022 Have you ever sat down to complete an important task and then suddenly discovered you were up loading the dishwasher or engrossed in the Wikipedia entry about Chernobyl? Or perhaps you suddenly realize that the dog needs to be fed, emails need to be answered, your ceiling fan needs dusting or maybe you should go ahead and have lunch, even though it’s only 11 a.m.? Next thing you know, it’s the end of the day and your important task remains unfinished. For many people, pro...crastination is a strong and mysterious force that keeps them from completing the most urgent and important tasks in their lives with the same strength as when you try to bring like poles of a magnet together. It's also a potentially dangerous force, causing victims to fail out of school, perform poorly at work, put off medical treatment or delay saving for retirement. But the reasons people procrastinate are not understood that well. Some researchers have viewed procrastination largely as a failure of self-regulation like other bad behaviors that have to do with a lack of self-control, such as overeating, a gambling problem or overspending. Others say it's not a matter of being lazy or poor time management, as many smart overachievers who procrastinate often can attest. They say it may actually be linked to how our brain works and to deeper perceptions of time and the self. . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression

17.01.2022 Psychotherapy, talk or talking therapy, counseling, or simply therapyno matter the name it’s known by, mental health counseling can benefit people struggling with emotional difficulties, life challenges, and mental health concerns. Therapy can help improve symptoms of many mental health conditions. In therapy, people also learn to cope with symptoms that may not respond to treatment right away. Research shows the benefits of therapy last longer than medication alone. Medicat...ion can reduce some symptoms of mental health conditions, but therapy teaches people skills to address symptoms on their own. These skills last after therapy ends, and symptoms may continue to improve, making it less likely people will need further treatment. When any type of mental health or emotional concern affects daily life and function, therapy may be recommended. Therapy can help you learn about what you’re feeling, why you might be feeling it, and how to cope. People who feel forced into therapy may feel resistant and find it harder to put in the work needed to make change. Therapy also offers a safe place to talk through life challenges such as breakups, grief, parenting difficulties, or family struggles. 16.01.2022 Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands. As the stress continues, you begin to lose the interest and motivation that led you to take on a certain role in the first place. Burnout reduces productivity and saps your energy, leaving you feeling increasingly helpless, hopeless, cynical, and resentful. Eventually, you may ...feel like you have nothing more to give. You may be on the road to burnout if: Every day is a bad day. Caring about your work or home life seems like a total waste of energy. You’re exhausted all the time. 16.01.2022 This is all a bit surreal really isn’t it. We’ve gone from zero to one hundred in seconds and the whole world has come to a complete standstill. Over the last few months we have ridden the waves of thinking this is one big joke and dismissing how serious COVID-19 is, all the way to stocking up on toilet roll, emptying the supermarkets and now complete lockdown. We have two choices: to face difficulty with optimism or to face difficulty with pessimism. Here are some things to ...remember: It will not be this way forever. This is a difficult time, but it is just that a time. Recognise what you are doing well. It may be tough right now, but you have managed some things really well. Think about the physical, logistical, mental and emotional struggles you may have encountered in the last month, and the good even great way you approached and handled those challenges. Go you! Remind yourself of what is good in your life. Some circumstances right now may be hard to change, or contribute to your feeling helpless. But there are other things in your life that are good and inspire gratitude. Making a list of the good things that you appreciate large or small can help shift your focus in a positive direction. The current situation may be challenging, but we live in an incredible country and we will get through this together. . . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #MentalHealth #Anxiety #inthistogether See more

14.01.2022 Each year we count down to the holiday season. Christmas, New Year, end-of-year school holidays, and forced office closures have us all setting lists of things to do, see and buy. But as joyous as it should all be, the chaos and stress of the festive season can take a toll on your mental health. Some things to do to help are; ... Set realistic expectations. Christmas might not be the fabulous family reunion you hoped for. Plan how you will manage any feelings of anxiety or depression that may arise. Drink in moderation. It may be tempting to drink too much during the festive period, but alcohol can contribute to stress, anxiety and depression. Alcohol may be a problem if you’re drinking to cope. Connect with friends and family. Even if you’re separated by distance, you can stay in touch with loved ones online or by phone. Find low cost ways to have fun. Don’t let money cut you off from your family and friends. If you can’t afford expensive restaurant meals or cocktail catch-ups, organise a BBQ in the park or a party at home where everyone brings a plate of food. Recognising and changing behaviours that contribute to your stress will help you get through the Christmas period. Remember to stay healthy eating well, exercising and getting enough sleep can help you cope with Christmas stress. . . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #Christmas

13.01.2022 Whether you live with mental health challenges or know someone that does, you may know that healing is not a linear path. There are ups and downs and some days feel like you are taking 10 steps backwards instead of forwards. We all have mental health and need to take care of it as we do with our physical health and well being. We all need to take days to care for our mental health and need someone we can talk to when life gets rough or when we have stressful days at work, sch...ool or at home. Or even when we have trouble navigating relationships with our friends, family, or partner. When we aren’t intentional in caring for our mental health, we can be more susceptible to experiencing bad mental health days. Just as washing our hands can prevent us from getting sick - processing our emotions and allowing ourselves to feel what we are experiencing in the present moment can help lessen the number of bad mental health days we experience. It is absolutely okay to have bad days or moments you don’t show up well. We all make mistakes, mess up, or procrastinate. We all know the feeling of not feeling worthy or feeling that we are not good enough. 13.01.2022 As a Mum, it’s really hard to spend money on yourself. Often, there simply isn’t much money left over after buying clothes for the kids, food, mortgage, etc. What little remains you want to save, since soon enough the kids will need new shoes and a winter coat. If you’re lucky enough to have the money, you may not have the energy. Buying takes time and effort. You have to find the time to go to the store or shop online, try things on, perhaps return them if they don’t fit. M...any Moms are simply too exhausted to make the effort. As a result, years go by and one day we notice that we’re wearing clothes that are stained, torn, faded, and perhaps older than our sweet children. It’s hard to feel good about yourself if you don’t have the basic things you need! Self-care isn’t just about going for manicures every year on your birthday. It’s about how you treat yourself every day so you feel nurtured. By not spending money on yourself (even though you spend it on everyone else), you’re sending a message to yourself that you’re not important. 12.01.2022 Do you have a tendency of over-apologizing? Are you the sort of person who blurts sorry! when someone collides with you in the street? Even when it’s entirely their fault? For example, do you apologize for making a perfectly reasonable request at a restaurant? Or seek forgiveness for unpleasant circumstances beyond your control? If those scenarios sound uncomfortably familiar to you, you’re not alone. Saying sorry too much is a common problem (especially among women). Howev...er, over apologizing all the time could mean you’re essentially saying sorry for your existence. Over time this not only undermines your self-worth but also your capacity to manifest an abundant life. Apologizing too much (or over-apologizing disorder) can have a wide variety of background explanations. Some of them are indicated in the personality traits as discussed above. For example, a difficult upbringing, a past of emotional abuse and a naturally high level of compassion for others can all lead to constantly saying sorry. However, regardless of the nuances of your personal life, studies show that there’s likely a root cause of excessively over apologizing. . . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression See more

11.01.2022 For many people, the festive season is an exciting time to connect with others and celebrate. But for others, it can be the most stressful time of the year. For many people, the festive season is a jolly time to connect with others and celebrate the year. But financial issues, family conflict and loneliness can increase stress for people with anxiety or depression in the lead up to Christmas and the new year. If you’re feeling alone or lonely, it’s important to reach out and... talk to someone. Sometimes it’s difficult to talk about what’s going on but it could be as simple as sending a text, a message on social media, inviting someone over for a cuppa or making a phone call. If you’re supporting someone who has anxiety or depression these holidays it’s important to look after yourself too. Occasions like Christmas can also bring up feelings of sadness and grief for people who have lost someone special. If you feel you can, talk about your loved one, share memories and tears. You may also like to spend some time alone so you can think about your loved one. 11.01.2022 Each October, Mental Health Month gives us the opportunity to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing. It is celebrated across NSW, the ACT and Victoria, and is a chance to promote activities and ideas that can have a positive impact on our daily lives and the lives of others. These events and messages are tied together with a specific theme, and this year’s is Tune In. TUNING IN MEANS BEING PRESENT It means being aware of what is happening within you, and in the... world around you. Being present by tuning in has been shown to help build self-awareness, help make effective choices, reduce the impact of worry, and build positive connections. You can tune in to many things: Tune in to yourself What can you sense right now? What can you feel? Tune in to others What might people around you be feeling? How can we connect? 10.01.2022 Everyone needs help during the coronavirus pandemic. From logistical issues, like finding someone to do your grocery shopping, to emotional ones, such as coping with anxiety and depression in isolation, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought to the forefront an experience that can be strangely uncomfortable for many: asking for help. People are hardwired to want to do things on their own and be independent-minded. Asking for help often makes people feel uneasy because it requires ...surrendering control to someone else. Another fear is being perceived as needy. This idea is amplified during the Covid-19 crisis: You may feel that people have their own worries to take care of, so yours aren’t significant. Some people are also afraid that they’ll be shunned or rejected if they ask for help. With practice, you’ll get used to asking for help. Taking opportunities to ask for help in smaller ways when you’d otherwise not can really make a difference over time. For example, speaking up if you need help connecting to a video call, or asking a neighbour to pick up a food item you need on their next grocery run. Another practical strategy is to re frame your request so it’s a conversation, rather than a transaction, she says. It’s not just saying, ‘You help me,’ it’s, ‘I’ve got a problem or challenge and I could really use your help. Let’s talk it through and see what we can come up with together.’ Not only does that feel more respectful to the recipient, but it also allows you to develop a deeper connection with the person who you’re asking for help. . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #MentalHealth #Anxiety See more
09.01.2022 Overcoming a challenge takes strength and courage, so it’s a good idea to show up nourished and well-rested. (Supporters in your corner don’t hurt either.) Here’s how to help lower anxiety naturally. Taking care of yourself is key. Research shows that after a good night’s sleep 7-9 hours is ideal you’re likely to feel less anxious and more confident. Physical activity during the day will help you sleep better, but you know that! Eating real, unprocessed food lean protein..., whole grains, legumes, fruit, nuts, veggies, the occasional piece of dark chocolate! will keep your energy level on an even keel. Fast food and processed snacks (cookies, candy bars, French fries) cause spikes and crashes in blood sugar that can leave you jittery. Research shows that B vitamins have many health and quality of life benefits, and supplementing with B vitamins is gaining scientific traction. . . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #Anxiety See more

09.01.2022 Self-esteem is primarily built upon the value derived from doing the things that get you your desired outcomes. But it’s more than just about doing something. Self-esteem is instead a direct outcropping of how you feel about yourself at any given moment. This is based purely on your actions. How you feel about yourself is heavily influenced by how you think you’re fairing compared to others. In other words, your self-esteem is derived from what you think others think of y...ou based on your results and actions. Given all this, it’s quite clear that self-esteem is not something that comes from within ourselves, but rather something that comes from outside of ourselves and subsequently influences how we feel at any given moment. A high degree of self-worth naturally enhances our self-esteem, thereby providing us with the self-confidence needed to follow through with our chosen decisions and actions. . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #MentalHealth See more

01.01.2022 Thinking about something in endless circles is exhausting. While everyone overthinks a few things once in a while, chronic over-thinkers spend most of their waking time ruminating, which puts pressure on themselves. They then mistake that pressure to be stress. Overthinking can take many forms: endlessly deliberating when making a decision (and then questioning the decision), attempting to read minds, trying to predict the future, reading into the smallest of details, etc. ...People who overthink consistently run commentaries in their heads, criticising and picking apart what they said and did yesterday, terrified that they look bad and fretting about a terrible future that might await them ‘What ifs’ and ‘shoulds’ dominate their thinking, as if an invisible jury is sitting in judgement on their lives. And they also agonise over what to post online because they are deeply concerned about how other people will interpret their posts and updates. Don’t get lost in thoughts about what you could have, would have, and should have done differently. Mental stress can seriously impact your quality of life. An overactive mind can make life miserable. Learning how to stop spending time in your head is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. Like all habits, changing your destructive thought patterns can be a challenge, but it’s not impossible. With practice, you can train your brain to perceive things differently and reduce the stress of overthinking. If overthinking is ruining your life, and if you think you may be spiralling into depression because of your thoughts, it pays to get professional help. . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #MentalHealth #Anxiety See more
01.01.2022 It’s more important than ever to practice self-care on a daily basis. As the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact the lives of people in Australia, the term ‘self-care’ has become increasingly common. There are countless articles on remaining positive, while Instagram feeds are packed with advice on how to stay in a good place mentally during this difficult period. While it sounds straightforward, self-care is a process that requires attention and effort every single day.... So, it’s important to understand the value of self-care and how it can be achieved, especially when access to family and friends is limited. For a variety of reasons, many people don’t do things just for themselves on a daily basis. They might be too busy, too tired, or too focused on others. They may even think they don’t deserve it and feel guilty about focusing solely on themselves. This couldn’t be further from the truth in the current climate, whether you’re working, supporting someone or simply dealing with the new measures. It’s important to understand that self-care doesn’t constitute selfishness. Being selfish limits your ability to give to others, whereas self-care enhances it. By focusing on your own well being, you put yourself in a far better position to support others, which is so crucial as people come to grips with the impact of the coronavirus. . . #mindfulness #mentalillness #mindfullness #selfcompassion #counselling #mental #lifecoach #counseling #psychotherapy #emotionalhealth #counselor #psychologyfacts #psychologytoday #psychological #positivepsychology #psychologist #mind #selfhelp #therapist #psychologytips #clinicalpsychology #emotionalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #depression #MentalHealth #Anxiety See more
