25.01.2022 Kids need to poke, touch, feel, bang and discover for themselves! Our science workshops include loads of hands-on activities.

24.01.2022 Using air to push. Wind Sail Cars ready for Push Pull science incursion at Epping Views PS.

22.01.2022 Today's kinder kids investigated which objects let light shine through using torches at Goodstart ELC Burnside. These objects let light through, and changed its colour!

22.01.2022 Today's Kinder kids loved investigating motion with magnets. Especially dropping a magnet into the tube and 'rescuing' it using the pull force of magnets sliding up the outside of the tube. The children enjoyed watching the magnet inside the tube move as they slid the other magnets on the outside of the tube. Magnets are cool! #scienceforkids #funscience

22.01.2022 Fizzy Science! Today's Inquisitive Kids used pipettes to add vinegar to bicarb soda with food colours. This classic chemical reaction was a Bubbly, Fizzing Delight! Using the pipettes provides a satisfying experience of cause and effect. #kidsscience #scienceisfun

20.01.2022 Scientific inquiry is about having an idea, having a go, trying something out, and learning from what happens.

19.01.2022 These Year 1/2 students are using marble roller coasters to experiment with motion, gravity, kinetic and potential energy. The loop-the-loops were a big hit! This activity is part of the Push, Pull and Motion workshop. The foam roller coasters take lots of teamwork, observing closely and making adjustments to the height and shape of the ramps to get the marble to roll successfully through the track. Fantastic science skills were in practice - predicting and testing, and getting hands-on experience with motion science. #scienceisfun #kidsscience

19.01.2022 Year 1 students exploring Light. Shining a torch at the CD makes rainbows! Each student has a whole tub of science materials to investigate the properties of Light. #scienceisfun #scienceforkids

15.01.2022 Sorting (classifying) things is science. In session 1 of the Little Bang Discovery Club, todays kinder kids noticed what was the same or different about these dinosaurs. We sorted by colour, by number of legs, and by long/short neck.

12.01.2022 Today's Inquisitive Kids explored forces and motion by launching ping pong balls with balloon cup poppers (aka marshmallow shooters). We experimented launching heavy rubber bouncy balls as well as light ping pong balls to discover how weight impacts motion. This activity is a popular part of the Push, Pull and Motion workshop. #scienceforkids #funscience

12.01.2022 Gooey Oobleck behaves as both a solid (under pressure) and a liquid (when released)!!! Make your own Oobleck with 2 parts cornflour, 1 part water. #scienceisfun #scienceforkids

12.01.2022 Today's Inquisitive Kids experimented with bubbles! They explored how big, how many, what shapes, and what colours they could create? The best part - if you dip your finger in the bubble mix you can touch the bubble without it popping!

10.01.2022 Kid scientists love using pipettes and test tubes. Today's kinder kids added coloured water to vegetable oil. See the green balls of water! Oil and water don't mix, so we get a 'lava lamp' effect. Great fun. #scienceforkids #scienceisfun

09.01.2022 Raining cloud in a jar! Awesome weather science with Warranwood PS students.

08.01.2022 Catapults! What kid doesnt love exploring potential energy with a catapult? In this Push Pull and Motion workshop, some kids experimented to find the best position and amount of push force required to launch their Pom Pom over a chair. Others arranged a starting line and compared which catapult could launch the greatest distance. Always a much loved activity.

07.01.2022 Great kindergarten science. Sorting objects requires making choices about which objects go together and why. Some of today's kids sorted groups by colour. Others made groups by type - animal or popsicle stick or foam shape. This activity is part of the Little Bang Discovery Club session 1 (of 4).

04.01.2022 A classic and worthy experiment known as 'walking water.' This is a great way to engage kids in the scientific method by observing, predicting and testing - How can we get the water to move to the middle cup without lifting the outside cups and pouring it? Will the paper towel bridges work? How do they work? What can you see happening? And what colour might we get in the middle cup if we have blue and yellow in the outside cups? Today's Inquisitive Kids were ecstatic to show me their discovery...the water in the middle cup went GREEN!

03.01.2022 A tornado in a bottle = endless fun! And also good experimenting, as the kids need several attempts at tipping, shaking and swirling the bottles to find the way to produce the tornado. #scienceforkids #scienceisfun

03.01.2022 Learning about lightning with the help of a plasma globe! Always a favourite moment in the weather science workshop. #scienceisfun #scienceforkids

03.01.2022 Today's inquisitive kinder kids took the light science further - exploring the light reflections from a mirror ball with a torch, they found they got better reflections when they tucked the mirror ball into a dark wooden cubby and could watch the light bounce around all surfaces within the space. They were very excited! #scienceisfun #scienceforkids
