25.01.2022 What can we say? We have seen it so many times. How privileged Inscape is to meet these incredible people during their stay at the Royal Hobart Hospital. Inscape Tribute Artist, Alyssa Bermudez created this artwork for Glenn. With so much to face in his life, he is still so generous and kind. Alyssa depicted a memory he has of seeing a Killer whale in Fortescue Bay in the 1980's.... He also makes beautifully crafted wooden toys for is grandchildren, foster and underprivileged children and he treasures his family and beautiful wife, depicted in the white camellia he has given her for special occasions. Thank you Glenn, for sharing your stories and for your huge heart. https://www.alyssabermudezart.com #royalhobarthospital #inscapetas

24.01.2022 Welcome back to musician Hugh Foley to the Inscape/Royal Hobart Hospital Pop Up Music Program 2021! His banjo playing sounded lovely with Declan's guitar playing to create a soothing vibe for people waiting in the admissions area of the main foyer in K block. Your sensitivity to the parents waiting for news of their baby coming out of theatre was appreciated. Thank you #thefoleyartists

22.01.2022 Best wishes from the Inscape family as we celebrate the end of a challenging but rewarding year. #inscapetasmania #inscapetas

22.01.2022 Yesterday Inscape had the first ‘Lullabies for Little’uns’ Pop Up session on the Neonatal Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (NPICU) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH). Inscape musicians Shelley Cusiter and Tiff Norchick played peaceful lullabies to babies, their families and staff. Thank you to Nurse Unit Manager Julie Doran, Team Leader Sam (pictured below), Karen Ford for her support, and all the dedicated NPICU staff who worked this morning. Feedback from everyone was extremely positive; shown by plenty of smiles, verbal expressions of gratitude, and lots of thumbs up. Thank you Shelley and Tiff for the gift of your soothing harmonies to create such a relaxing environment. #inscapetas #inscapetasmania #musicinhospitals

21.01.2022 This morning we give our appreciation to the dedicated staff and attendance of inspiring patients on the Adult Rehabilitation Ward, Peacock 2, at the Repatriation Centre in Davey St. Hobart. Special gratitude to the physiotherapists who gave up their gymnasium and exercise schedule so Inscape musician’s Hugh and Declan Foley could play together with banjo and guitar. An uplifting and pleasurable experience for all. The Foley brothers, great musicianship, the perfect Duo.#repatriationcentre #inscapetas#thefoleyartists

21.01.2022 Thank you, Hilary Nelson, and Declan Foley for kicking off the Inscape Guest Duo Project in RHH K block today. Hilary’s beautiful singing and Declan’s great guitar accompaniment was well received judging from the feedback from people passing by - all positive with smiles, compliments and even a little dancing and applause. To our surprise and delight, a woman brought her mother who is a patient, from the ward to stay for hour and the woman sang along with Hilary for some of the songs.

16.01.2022 On this rainy Monday morning in Hobart, the Inscape team would like to share this colourful collage done by Maxine on ward 2J, the Older Person's Unit at the Royal Hobart Hospital. She created this work a month ago and it has been up on the wall of the room she was in ever since - it is now offering a cheerful sight for future patients staying in the room. Happy Spring everyone!

14.01.2022 This week Inscape installed the 3rd display on the ‘Celebrating Art and Culture’ wall in A block at the Royal Hobart Hospital. The vibrant photos and paintings were created by Artist Luana Towney. Thank you Luana for sharing your beautiful paintings, photography and stories with the RHH community.

14.01.2022 On Thursday, Tribute Artist Jenny Masters illustrated a picture for 92-year-old Leon. It depicts what he loves; being an orchardist in Middleton, his constant companion Toby the dog, Cox’s Orange Pippins (Apples) and the raspberry dessert his beloved Doris used to make for him. #inscapetas #inscape #artinhospitals

14.01.2022 A new Pop Up THS-S venue for Inscape: This week Inscape musicians, Crystal Campbell and Crystal Livermore performed for the patients and staff on the Adult Rehabilitaion Unit at the Repatriation Centre in Davey St. Thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome and for the patients who came along, sang and tapped their toes.

13.01.2022 Welcome back to work Alyssa Bermudez! Today was Alyssa's first shift back since Hobart's COVID 19 lockdown. She created a stunning illustration to celebrate Elizabeth's love of animals, crafts of every description, travelling, Mount Wellington-Kunanyi fossicking and her two chocolate Labradors.

12.01.2022 Inscape Tasmania is proud to be included as one of the 58 Royal Hobart Hospital Services represented in the Bicentenary quilt. Kylie Eastley, Inscape's Communications Officer, designed and sewed our square with attention and love. Thanks Kylie. All the patches are a stunning achievement and the quilt has come together to form a beautiful view of the hospital and the services that it provides.

12.01.2022 Inscape Tas is enjoying working with Tracey Cleaver, the Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH). Today we put up the first of the 'Art and Culture' displays in the A block foyer. The first Artist to be showcased is Emma Roberston who makes exquisite baskets and necklaces. Thank you Tracey, for your hard work, enthusiasm and dedication and to Emma for your talent and openness to showing off some of your creations. We look forward to seeing work from more artists in the near future.

11.01.2022 Last week it was great to make more collages, this time with Edith cutting out and pasting, while chatting about life stories and being immersed in colour and shapes; ‘such a pleasant pass time and a rejuvenating activity’ was one of her comments. #inscapetas #inscapetasmania

10.01.2022 Today Inscape's Will and Annie Parsell enjoyed interacting with staff and visitors at the Royal Hobart Hospital as they passed by during their musical pop up performance in the K block foyer. Photo courtesy of Fiona Loakman.

10.01.2022 How fortunate are we at Inscape Tasmania to meet the most wonderful people in our line of work. Last week Jenny Masters created a celebratory illustration for David. His love of family, his four sons, beautiful wife and grandchildren. Boat building, fishing and his incredible adventures abroad in Alaska. His adventures in Mexico did not make it in the picture...as well as many other wonderful memories! Thank you David for sharing some of your stories with us. We loved our time with you as a patient at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

09.01.2022 Thank you to Crystal Livermore and Crystal Campbell for their beautiful vocal harmonies and guitar playing in RHH K block foyer this week. These two talented musicians created a relaxed and joyful atmosphere for visitors, patients and staff passing by and we have discovered that the sound even reaches departments and wards in C block due to the great acoustics in the space.

09.01.2022 Well it's a wrap for the 'Inscape Guest Musician Project 2020' and a perfect note to finish on with this song. Thank you to Crystal Livermore and Crystal Campbell for this session and to Hilary Nelson and Declan and Hugh Foley for their beautiful and warm hearted performances in the K block foyer at the Royal Hobart Hospital over the last 4 weeks. Thank you.

09.01.2022 This week we welcomed Inscape's three Guest Duos to the Royal Hobart Hospital public spaces for the first time. Thank you to our 3rd Duo, Hugh and Declan Foley. They filled the K block foyer with their unique sound of banjo and guitar; with songs sung by Hugh, adding a fun and individual take on some well-known tunes. It is clear they have been playing together for a long time. Their excellent musicianship and simpatico is special to hear and they have an extensive repertoire, so we look forward to hearing new songs in the next session in a few weeks.

08.01.2022 This week Alyssa worked with a patient on ward 2J, the Acute Older Person’s Unit at RHH. She painted an illustration to celebrate what Terry loves in her life; her beloved animals she cares for on her tranquil country property by the water, South of Hobart. Alyssa got to draw an Alpaca for the first time; she always likes a challenge! Thank-you Alyssa for making Terry’s day. Alyssa Bermudez

08.01.2022 Shelley Cusiter and Tiff Norchick played soothing songs with their usual blissful harmonies and exquisite harp and guitar playing at Whittle ward at the Repatriation Centre in Hobart today. Thank you both, Inscape and the Whittle ward community love your work!

07.01.2022 Last week, Tribute artist Jenny Masters met Pauline who wanted to remember her free spirited days as a Jillaroo in Bundaberg. Her two current day beloved pets are watching on and her love of music and singing is depicted in the cowboy on the left who is playing a guitar. Actually, that cowboy is modelled on Will Parsell, one of our bedside musicians - who Pauline sang with during his visits to ward 2J. This a first for an Inscape team member to be included in a Tribute. As you can see from the photo, Pauline is thrilled with the gift....a few tears of joy just before the photo was taken.

06.01.2022 Inscape now has two re-purposed ECG trolleys for our bedside music program which adds to the custom made artist-made trolley by Nick Maxwell. 3 musicians can be visiting patients on different wards at the same time now! Thank you to Trevor Small from the Bio-Medical Engineering Department at the Royal Hobart Hospital. Here are the trolleys before ward visits started yesterday with Hannah and Jacqui. Photo courtesy of Allied Health Assistant, Barry.

06.01.2022 Alyssa is a published author, visual artist and illustrator who is learning so much from spending time with patients at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

06.01.2022 Inscape illustrator Jenny Masters created a beautiful celebratory artwork for Barbara on ward 7A. Barbara loves the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, her 6 cats, her dear friend Linda, the Beach Boys, the three fir trees representing her family back home in the USA, a yellow rose and the Lyrebird and Whip Bird, which are seen and heard in the Dandenongs. We have appreciated spending time with Barbara over the last 3 weeks and appreciate her love of music and her wonder at all the Inscape musical instruments we have showed and played to her at her bedside. Thank you Barbara and Jenny.

05.01.2022 Royal Hobart Hospital: Celebrating Art and Culture - Display in A Block The Inscape managed Art and Culture display in the A Block Foyer is showcasing the artwork of eight Tasmanian Aboriginal Artists, from September to December 2020. Inscape and Tracey Cleaver, the Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer, are working together to bring photos of these beautiful and diverse artworks from the community into the health care setting. Tracey's close connections with community and appr...eciation of the arts is making this possible. Inscape is excited to use the permanent display wall to celebrate art and culture. Thank you to all the artists who are offering photos of their work for the display. The artists who will be showing their work are Emma Robertson, Luana Towney, Takira Simon Brown, Dean Greeno, Craig Everett, Janice Ross, John Dickson and Allan Mansell. Today Inscape put up Craig Everett's art and stories. Thank you Craig; you are an inspiration. Photographic credits to Richard Tebb, Emma Robertson and Jillian Mundy

04.01.2022 Tribute Artist, Jenny Masters painted a lovely illustration to celebrate some of what Lorraine loves in her life. Her ‘wellbeing’ walking club, growing up in Richmond, sliding down Grass Tree Hill on a wooden paling and riding ‘Nugget’ their draught horse as a child. Judging from the photo taken when the artwork was given to Lorraine, she was very happy, as was her sister who looked on. #inscapetasmania #inscapetas #artinhospitals #jennymasters

04.01.2022 This wonderful illustration celebrates Angela’s love of music, singing and animals. It was Jenny Masters’ first Tribute artwork for a patient staying on a ward in the new K block. #inscape #inscapetas #jennymasters #tasmanianartists #artinhospitals

03.01.2022 Thank you and well done to Tracey Cleaver, Jo Attrill and the RHH teams for hosting a wonderful NAIDOC week at the hospital. The artwork by Janice Ross, permanently installed in K block, the ceremony, decorations, music, and other activities celebrating and acknowledging Tasmanian Aboriginal culture was so great to engage in. Thank you to the Tasmanian Aboriginal community for your generosity and warmth in sharing your culture with us.
