24.01.2022 Check out this delicious chicken stir fry. We combined and modified a couple of recipes to make a healthier meal that the whole family was happy with. We swapped chicken thighs to a breast, added broccolini, chose 'light' varieties of soy and oyster sauce, left out the sugar in the marinade and used a non-stick pan, which meant less oil required to stir fry the chicken and veges! For full recipes and exercise tips, join our mailing list at http://eepurl.com/TqfXz

23.01.2022 Catalyst has been doing an outstanding job over the last few weeks showing us just how important exercise is in the treatment of so many medical conditions. This episode was one of my favs - exercise therapy for cancer. One of the best things about being an Exercise Physiologist is that we get to prescribe a "medicine" to our clients that has no ill side effects and empowers them to take control of their own health and happiness. Better yet, new research is showing that exercise-medicine may double your chance of survival and cause your own body to attack the cancer - amazing! Have a watch :)

23.01.2022 Well done to all those who are participating in the 2015 MS Walk & Fun Run today. Exercise can help manage many of the symptoms of multiple sclerosis, such as fatigue, and has shown to improve balance, strength, posture, mood and concentration in people living with the disease. Exercise right - exercise with an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and feel the difference. #exerciseright #multiplesclerosis #mswalk #msaustralia #exerciseismedicine https://register.mswalk.org.au/2015-MS-Walk-and-Fun-Run-//

23.01.2022 Its #ExerciseRightWeek2017! Exercise can be daunting, especially if you are carrying an injury or living with a chronic condition such as arthritis or diabetes. Exercise Physiologists are the allied health professionals to prescribe you safe and effective exercise to improve your management and symptoms, better your outcomes or simply improve your health and fitness. This week (or whenever!) feel free to ask us your health and exercise related questions, either on this page, in a private message or an email - we would love to help you. Check in at the clinic and on our page throughout the week for advice and promotions! @exerciserightaustralia

23.01.2022 So, definitely not promoting Coke Zero but look at all that sugar in the Coke!! #illhaveawaterplease #suprisedbutnotsuprised

23.01.2022 Everyone needs to understand this, including health professionals (even the ones doing the imaging!)

23.01.2022 It's EXERCISE RIGHT WEEK! I'm going to start it off by sharing with you all my favourite page on facebook - The Moderation Movement. These guys promote and teach mindfulness, among other things, and offer the most sensible health advice that we can all benefit from in one way or another. There is so much info out there promoting diet and exercise that fails to target what's most important - our health and happiness. If counting calories and punishing yourself at the gym to achieve your desired physique leaves you miserable and a slave to your program, is it really the best thing for you? Like these guys for your daily dose of the important stuff!

22.01.2022 Theres a lot of really great advice and thinking happening in this article, whether you love Juddy or not!

22.01.2022 Why is it that if we perceive ourselves to be overweight, we tend to start labelling some foods as "bad" or "unhealthy" and feel guilty if we just have a taste, but if a thin person eats the same food (perhaps even in a greater quantity), we dont associate it with the same language/thoughts/feelings? ......Because #crazy. Good read, as always.

21.01.2022 I feel so lucky to be in a profession where I get to help people better their health and happiness. One of the best aspects of my job is that I get to work with heaps of different types of people, each who have their own goals, but who will all benefit from using exercise as a therapy/medicine. There certainly isnt any repetition in my job, with each client requiring an individual intervention. Unfortunately, a lot of people (including GPs) dont know about Exercise Physiologists and how they can help people who are living with, or are at risk of developing, chronic diseases, injuries, illnesses and pain. This link offers a great explanation of what an AEP is and how were different from Physiotherapists and Personal Trainers. - Eliza #exerciserightweek2017

21.01.2022 Exercise Physiology stems from the overwhelming evidence that supports the use of exercise as a medicine in the treatment, management and prevention of many complex and chronic diseases, injuries and illness. Our specialties: * Musculoskeletal injuries & pain - lower back pain... - hip/shoulder pain/instability/stiffness * Postural & biomechanical correction - muscular imbalances - poor posture - poor movement technique * Type II Diabetes * Overweight & obesity * Pre & post orthopaedic surgery * Cardiovascular disease - high blood pressure * Osteoporosis * Poor mobility * Pre & post natal See more

21.01.2022 Struggling with lower back pain and have had no success with core stability training? Join us at Re-Creation Burwood East Health Club this Wednesday 2nd July for IOEP's FREE seminar - AN EVIDENCE-BASED APPROACH TO IMPROVING LOWER BACK PAIN. We will discuss the research and assumptions surrounding core stability training and offer a holistic solution based on current best-practice, motor learning and training principles. This seminar is sure to spark a lot of conversation about how lower back pain is currently managed in the industry, so don't miss out!

21.01.2022 Happy Heart Week! You can reduce your risk of a heart attack by improving your cardiovascular and metabolic health. Did you know that just 4 mins of moderate intensity exercise can lower your blood pressure? Plus, you'll feel fantastic for it...

19.01.2022 That's a wrap! Thank you to all of my brilliant clients for making 2016 so great. Wishing all of you and your families a Merry Christmas and a new year filled with heath and happiness! This amazing creation was handmade by the beautiful Anna - it did have a door too, but I ate it already thank you, Annabanana xx

18.01.2022 Happy Winter! Includes our top three winter moves to get your blood moving, a delicious chicken stir-fry recipe and news about our FREE seminar at Re-Creation Burwood East Health Club in July!

18.01.2022 Hot cross buns for breakfast - delicious! Happy Easter, folks x

18.01.2022 Our next raving fan - Kat - who is currently 33 weeks along with her second bub (who is giving his big brother a run for his money with how many times he can kick his mothers insides during a gym session!). This pregnancy has been quite different for Kat in terms of her pelvic stability and the exercises weve prescribed. She is doing a great job at using exercise as a therapy to improve her pregnancy niggles, stay strong and feel confident about labour and the post-partum p...eriod again. While she doesnt always feel like exercising, this super-mum has made it a priority and knows that she always feels better for it. Pregnancy isnt a time to necessarily improve your fitness and strength, but to try and maintain your strength and function for as long as you can is crucial - get an Accredited Exercise Physiologist on board and #exerciseright. #exerciserightweek2017 See more

18.01.2022 I’d be so upset if someone did this to me (.....or if the Easter bunny delivered white chocolate , let’s be honest). HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE! Take advantage of the sunshine today (to sit in and eat chocolate, of course ). Easter tip - to avoid over eating today, avoid going into any social events starving, as you’re more likely to eat mindlessly and end up over-full and uncomfortable. Enjoy your Easter eggs slowly in your mouth and tune in to just how delicious they are to increase your satisfaction and will better be able to recognise when you’ve had enough

18.01.2022 Lovely article! Weve completely lost touch of the reasons why we need to exercise and often forget to listen to our bodies to determine what exercise, if any, is best for us on any given day. Great tips to heal your relationship with exercise and to stop using it as a punishment (or worse still, feeling guilty for only doing a "light" session... ) #healthateverysize #exerciseright

17.01.2022 This is great....it has sparked some really interesting conversation since it was posted yesterday. The crux though; "obesity doesn't happen overnight" - perfect.

17.01.2022 The 1st of Feb marks day one of Feb Fast. We're aiming to give SUGAR the flick for the month (fructose/fruit and lactose/milk are allowed) - what will you choose? Good luck! http://febfast.org.au/whyitsgoodforyou/

16.01.2022 Flourless and sugar-free breakfast muffins! Oats, almond meal, linseed, apple, natural yoghurt, eggs, cinnamon and stevia - delicious :) #febfast #bircherinamuffin

15.01.2022 Great tips! For those who have lived in your "active wear" today, change into a different outfit and see how you feel #onestepatatime

15.01.2022 Meet Greg and Albert, the father-son duo to beat! Anna was our first raving fan from this beautiful family, initially referred by her GP for diabetic management. Soon enough, she was able to convince her youngest son, Albert, to join in and not too long after, her husband came along to see what all the fuss was about - theyve both been regulars ever since. Anna, Greg and Albert do a little bit of everything - interval training, strength training, balance training, abdominal strengthening - its always varied to keep them motivated and challenged. Only two more family members left to convert! #exerciserightweek2017

14.01.2022 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwd-wLdIHjs My fav video explaining pain. What is it and how do we fix it? He actually runs out of time to explain the second part of that question BUT the answer is EXERCISE, of course. Exercise has a great capacity to de-sensitise your nervous system to reduce your pain, it just needs to be individualised to you - we can help.

14.01.2022 To celebrate #Exerciserightweek2017 we're giving away a 90cm foam roller! To enter the draw, take the QUIZ below!

13.01.2022 1 in 3 women struggle with incontinence when they exercise post partum. 1 in 2 women are diagnosed with rectus diastasis (abdominal separation) immediately post partum. All women experience structural changes to their posture during pregnancy to make more room for the growing bub. Unfortunately things dont always spontaneously resolve themselves in the post partum period, but an individually tailored exercise program can help. Rehab yourself with the advice from an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. @exerciserightaustralia

13.01.2022 Some great tips here - The first was my fav ;-) ...enjoy the sunshine and your loved ones today (a literal translation: avoid xmas shopping at ALL costs)!

12.01.2022 Our super mum-to-be, Kat, still training hard and enjoying the benefits of regular exercise (even at 37 weeks!!). Kat worked hard before she fell pregnant to correct her muscular imbalances and improve her postural and functional strength, which she has diligently maintained throughout her entire pregnancy. Obviously we had to make some modifications along the way, but being pregnant has not reduced her ability to exercise, and so it shouldn't! We're so pleased with what you've achieved and can't wait to work with you after the birth of your little person :)))

12.01.2022 Who can relate? I believe that the non-diet approach to eating is the way to go...so many people have such overwhelming anxiety about their weight and their struggle to lose it. Food is such a big part of our lives - the fact we need it to survive probably has something to do with why it is also the centre point of many of our social events. But anxiety can be crippling and trigger a cascade of events in your body which can make weight loss even harder on a diet approach. Of all the things we have to be anxious about in this world, I dont think that we need to let delicious, glorious food be one of those. Have you tried intuitive eating - how did it leave you feeling? Like The Moderation Movement says, its not a switch you can just flick...Im still practicing too.

11.01.2022 Sit less, walk more - the key to a long and healthy life...oh, and make sure you eat well too!

10.01.2022 Its never too late to start!

10.01.2022 Thats a wrap! Thank you to all of my brilliant clients for making 2016 so great. Wishing all of you and your families a Merry Christmas and a new year filled with heath and happiness! 10.01.2022 Quick! Will disappear at midnight tonight...

10.01.2022 Would you or someone you know benefit from seeing our AEP? Tag them below so they can take advantage of this great offer, which will only be available for the remainder of #exerciserightweek2017. Share, share, share (and tag)!

10.01.2022 This video made me laugh a lot - so many great one-liners!

10.01.2022 ...and so is your mentality! To optimise health, we need both sides of the coin: mindful eating and enjoyable exercise. Mindful eating will eliminate "cheat meals", an extremely negative notion which unfortunately then becomes a negative experience with exercise too. Scientific research suggests that its healthier to be slightly over-weight-and-fit than lean-and-unfit. Thats why it is SO important to find the right type of exercise for you, your stage of life, your medical conditions and your niggles. Look after your health and happiness by exercising right and eating mindfully #exerciserightweek #mindfuleating #mindfulliving

09.01.2022 It's Exercise Right Week! Do you know how to exercise right? We all know physical activity is important, but do you know how to exercise right for who you are? If you suffer from an underlying condition or injury, or have recently been diagnosed with a chronic illness, getting expert advice is important. Visit www.exerciseright.com.au to find out just how an Accredited Exercise Physiologist can make a difference to your life.

08.01.2022 M O T I V A T I O N. If I waited til I was motivated to exercise before I started exercising, I would never exercise. Let us help you to overcome your barriers to exercise and find you a type of exercise that you enjoy (or dont find intimidating) and then just DO IT - dont wait for the motivation. The motivation to keep going and challenge yourself will come throughout your workout once the endorphins kick in, which wont take long! Tell yourself that youre just going to knock off 10mins of exercise - at the end of the 10mins, if you feel like it, keep going. If you dont feel like it, stop, and be happy about the 10mins you did do. You will be surprised at how often you feel like doing more. Getting started is always the hardest part Happy Easter [Edit: have just added some tips to just do it in the comments ]

08.01.2022 Thanks to the pooch for the excuse! Youll feel happier out in the fresh air and sunshine #perfectwintersday #feelinglucky #dontforgetyourpoobag

08.01.2022 https://www.tamethebeast.org/#tame-the-beast Be brave and have hope, because it is possible to tame the beast. This is a great new education space which aims to communicate hope and give people evidence-based direction to guide their recovery from pain. Have a watch of the animation on the main page - there are more great resources available within the site too.

07.01.2022 You can use your foam roller for much more than just rolling out your IT band (side of your thigh). These three roller exercises are great for most people with tightness in their lower back or sacroiliac joints, particularly if the curve in your lower spine is quite exaggerated when you stand.

06.01.2022 And the winner of our #exerciserightweek2017 quiz is......

06.01.2022 Looking forward to present to the Deakin University Psychology Society - DUPS tonight about the benefits and types of exercise to better manage stress, improve memory and productivity, and to stay fit and healthy during their exam period. #exerciseright #T1 #exams #selfcareworkshop #ESSA

05.01.2022 Snapped at 4:50am (). Junior state swimmer, Tiana, doing her rehab exercises before she gets in the pool. Shoulder impingement is very common, not only in swimmers, but in anyone who uses their arms in repetitive ways or in prolonged positions (think hairdressers, electricians, basketballers, office workers, tradies....the list is endless). Passive therapies, such as massage, have their place in rehab, but you need to include an active therapy, such as clinical exercise, to restore balance to the muscles and optimal mechanics to the joint. Thanks for the pic, Tiana - looking forward to seeing you in a fortnight to progress your exercises! #exerciserightweek2017 #tokyo2020 #rehab #waytooearly

03.01.2022 Thank you to all those who came along to the seminar last night and stayed to ask so many questions and share your experiences with the group. I'm confident you now understand that your back pain is far more complex than purely your "core" and we need an individualised approach to treat every dimension of our pain, including our mind! #exerciseismedicine #backpain #exercisephysiology #strengthtraining

03.01.2022 So lucky to be able to help people become confident to exercise right and bridge their gap to better health! Have a read about what Exercise Physiologists do and spread the word. Together we can change the status quo and use exercise as our medicine! #exerciseright #exerciseismedicine http://www.exerciseright.com.au/what-is-an-accredited-exer/

02.01.2022 Far healthier than a chocolate biscuit to get you through your coffee break, but also a yummy lunchbox snack for kiddies! In a food processor, combine 1 cup pitted dates, 1/2 cup almonds or almond meal, 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 tsp coconut oil and 3 tbsp cacao powder. Roll into small balls and coat in coconut....will take you 5 mins!

01.01.2022 Meet Antonietta, 86yo: in the last 12months, she has successfully increased her bone mineral density, reduced her blood pressure, improved her arthritic knee pain and has gained heaps of strength! Antonietta exercises with us twice per week, using a variety of cardio and strengthening machines, as well as completing her home exercise program prescribed by our Accredited Exercise Physiologist. She was initially very hesitant about exercise, having not participated in any exercise or sports over her life, but now she is a raving fan! #exerciserightweek2017
