25.01.2022 Watching the Today show this morning and Ross Greenwood reads out the prediction that interest rates will be 1% higher by end of 2015, Banks arent charities. Their fixed rates will rise when their economists agree with Ross not when it actually happens!!!

24.01.2022 When I was training to be accredited as a broker I spent a lot of time asking other brokers the pros and cons of various lenders. I remember one guy telling me he avoided a particular bank who had really competitive products (thats true) but really slow service and approval/settlement turn around. He referred to them as Bank of Manila. I have my first application with them for a client and just rang the call centre. Judging by the accent, Bank of Manila may be correct!
23.01.2022 RBA leaves rates on hold. I reckon things look a little complicated for the RBA. Our housing sector seems to be gathering steam and the interest rate lever is u...sed by the RBA to slow it down when it feels appropriate. BUT the RBA wants the dollar to fall to help exporters. Putting interest rates up doesnt help there. I guess thats why Glenn Stevens gets the big bucks!

20.01.2022 Do you know what "jointly and severably" means? It means when you sign a loan contract along with other people you are all jointly liable but also the bank can choose to chase you on your own. Why is this important? ... My applicant yesterday has bought a property jointly with his sister and parents and now wants his own home. He only pays a third of the loan so he feels he can afford it. Wrong! All the banks assess him as having to pay the WHOLE payment so he cant afford a loan on his own. Be careful making family loan commitments because they will impact your individual plans.

The message from all was "we want business" and "ignore the advertised rates, call us for a quote if you get a competitor that beats us. Now I am a member of the particular points program and have used the points before. My flight to Ireland still cost me around $1100 in taxes and fees. So this loan has a slightly higher interest rate and when you work out the amount of extra interest and then the fees and taxes, well your flight to Europe isnt exactly free. And the most reassuring thing, I wasnt the only broker who said they couldnt recommend that to clients
