14.01.2022 SAFETY TIP RCD's require ongoing testing to ensure there effectiveness and functionality, they come equipped with a test button which allows the occupants to conduct a check of the functionality by simply pressing the button. once the button is pressed the RCD 'should' trip by design, which disconnects the power for the applicable circuit. Once the RCD has tripped return it to the up position which will once again provide power to the circuit. If during this test the RCD fails to trip then you should contact a qualified electrical contractor to investigate the problem. RCD's are a safety device there to protect people from electrical shock and should not be overlooked.
