22.01.2022 If your results and success depend on your ability to connect with people then this development program is for you. It's derived from the learning's of many prominent thought leaders in social psychology and explains in depth why we behave, react, get emotional and do the things we do on an everyday basis.
22.01.2022 I find leadership fascinating...recently in the sporting arena we have seen the low point of Michael Clarke, the Australian cricket captain in losing the ashes series to England and the sacking of one of the Brisbane Lions favourite sons in Michael Voss. They are leaders of very talented, technically skilled men in their chosen sporting arena, yet they have not fulfilled their potential. So how does the leader, coach or captain make the difference between being part of a win...ning or losing team? I believe it is more than self belief, focus and natural ability. Successful leaders know how to communicate with each individual on their team in a way that not only inspires and motivates them, but demonstrates to that particular individual that their leader understands them probably more than they understand themselves. He or she takes the time to understand the maturity and development of the team members thinking around success and how to achieve it. A classic case in point was demonstrated in the movie the Blind Side. Based on atrue story, the understanding came from Sandra Bullock explaining to her adopted (rather large) American footballer son that protecting the quarter back was like protecting your family. You do everything you can within the rules to prevent him getting hurt. He went on to be one of the most prolific defensive players in the NFL. It all goes to show when you know the right buttons to press, anything is possible in the field of endeavour.
18.01.2022 STRUCTURAL TENSION - The Discipline of Personal Mastery The Structural Tension Model is deceptively simple. Its power and weakness lies in its simplicity. You only need to be clear of 2 things vision and current reality today. When you have identified vision from current reality, you perceive the gap. The gap produces the structural tension. However, if I have a vision that is not grounded in current reality (CR), the vision is not realistic. There is no tension as it is no...t grounded in current reality. The other way it can happen is to be too grounded in Current reality. If one is too mired in CR, the vision does not appear real. You need both (vision and current reality) to create the tension.

17.01.2022 What I Think I Know By Tim O'Brien Have you ever stopped to think about what you feel you have learned about life? I just did. You know what? It was harder than I thought it would be! Not because I don't have opinions, I have plenty of them. It was the idea of certainty that got me. I feel strongly about much, but I found, certain about little. So, here is my list of what I feel certain about in life....Continue reading

14.01.2022 I recently came across an article in Time Business by Margaret Heffernan that shared the secrets of people who are very productive. I was a little surprised at a couple of the habits so I thought I would share them with you. According to the article it boils down to four things. 1 These people have a life. The article suggests academic research keeps showing external commitments are highly correlated with high achievement. 2 They take breaks. From what I understand when... you get tired you can quickly become rigid and narrow-minded and a quick break may be all that is needed to get those creative, productive juices going again (more on that later). 3 These people have often worked in different industries. While this makes sense to me I was surprised to see it on the list. Having a diverse background allows you to see different frameworks and approaches. 4 The final attribute these people have great outside collaborators and networks. What the article really suggests is productive people have very wide, rich resources to call on. The secret to productivity isnt the latest tool or being better organized, its having a complete life. 06.01.2022 Over the past couple of weeks I've come across the common theme of people telling me they don't have enough time. Perhaps your the same...you feel overloaded and often work late, or maybe your days seem to lurch from one crisis to another, leaving you stressed and demoralised, never getting to today's activity. The common answer I frequently hear is "I wish I had more time" So let's explore that notion for a moment... HEY PRESTO the business fairy grants your wish and you n...Continue reading
06.01.2022 Stephen Covey's bucket list... A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2" in diameter. He then asked the students if the jar was full? They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open area...s between the rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The students laughed. The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. "Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognise that this is your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - things that if everything else were lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else, the small stuff. If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal. Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand." But then... A student then took the jar which the other students and the professor agreed was full, and proceeded to pour in a glass of beer. Of course the beer filled the remaining spaces within the jar making the jar truly full. The moral of this tale is - no matter how full your life is, there is always room for a BEER with friends!

02.01.2022 A bit of sound, simple logic from Russ Davis at the Small Business Development Centre: There are only four fundamental ways to build your business these are what all business growth strategies stem from. You need to GROW:... Your customer base the number of customers of the type you want; Your transaction frequency the number of times they come back and spend; Your transaction value the amount they spend on each transaction; and Your profit margin the amount of profit you make on each transaction. The compounding result of achieving each of these is dramatic; a 10% improvement to each element will increase your sales by 33.1% and your profit by a whopping 46.4%.
01.01.2022 The real goal of networking is to help other people. Yes, it would be nice if they helped you out as well, but networking is a twoway street. And your side of the street is all about helping others, not asking them to help you. Asking for favours should only become a possibility once you have learned more about the person and provided value to them. Its far more important to understand their needs before you tell them about your needs. Your goals should not be on the forefront of your mind. Youre trying to develop a relationship with someone, which means you should be thinking about them. Its your job to understand the people in your network, where they are coming from, and whats important to them.
