22.01.2022 How are you going in the garden? We have had a few apricots, onions going well, cherry tomatoes amazing, some beans are ready to pick. Corn is going well and I just gave them a shake to spread the pollen. Love being in the garden but those weeds and flys are persistent. Wishing you all a happy week.

22.01.2022 Hi everyone, Hope your all well and if your struggling lately then Im sorry to hear this and I do hope things get better. I was surprised that even my long standing orange tree was drooping with last weeks heat; however a small sprinkler left on in the cooler moments and its coming good again.... So blessed to have set up the irrigation with timer switches and double hoses so you can turn on the tap and then it individually turns on the hose line to the dripper and sprinklers. A little planning beforehand to make it easier down the track. Unfortunately with the extreme heat you will lose plants and shrubs its out of your control. Today? What ideas and dreams do you have for your garden? If you need help or advice please email [email protected] or to book in an appointment please call Craig on Mob 0431 909 525 (after 4pm weekdays) preferably as he is working on his clients gardens. Wishing you a safe and happy Friday. Kind regards, Craig, Inspired Gardening Services Mob: 0431 909 525

22.01.2022 Hi everyone, Hope you had a good weekend. It was lovely getting out in the garden this weekend. ... Wow those weeds have sprung up so quickly! However Inspired Gardening Services use a non chemical product and spray directly on weeds to kill just the weeds and the spray is pet friendly however is best to avoid pets walking on sprayed areas and then on your lawn Today I started on building a large shade house for my pot plants, as I like to grow from seed, seedlings or from cuttings. Our neighbours and ourselves like to share home grown crops and in this instance we received some freshly laid eggs from the neighbours hens. We really hope you have a good week and please call Craig from Inspired Gardening Services on Mob 0431 909 525 if you need someone to assist you in all your gardening needs. Inspired Gardening Services also offer services in window cleaning both inside and outside; gutter cleaning or in freshening up your garden with some new plants and ground cover. We also provide irrigation in both new or replacement areas. Pensioner rates apply for our services. Thank you for your continued support. We are very grateful and the best advertising is word of mouth from satisfied clients. Regards, Craig, Inspired Gardening Services Mob 0431 909 525

21.01.2022 Radishes grown in pots from seeds (Cherry Belle) then 4 weeks later picked a few this morning. Great for starting kids off in growing their own vegetables. Can be grown under any outdoor pot plants where there is space and adequate light.... Radishes grown in pots dont seem to get eaten by millipedes or earwigs or other insects. Have a lovely weekend.

19.01.2022 Laying pavers ready for floor of glasshouse. Concreted the sides and the glasshouse is now completed. Sweep sanded the pavers and next weekend start on seed planting preparation.

15.01.2022 Since her death in 1979, the woman who discovered what the universe is made of has not so much as received a memorial plaque. Her newspaper obituaries do not m...ention her greatest discovery. [] Every high school student knows that Isaac Newton discovered gravity, that Charles Darwin discovered evolution, and that Albert Einstein discovered the relativity of time. But when it comes to the composition of our universe, the textbooks simply say that the most abundant atom in the universe is hydrogen. And no one ever wonders how we know. Jeremy Knowles, discussing the complete lack of recognition Cecilia Payne gets, even today, for her revolutionary discovery. (via alliterate) OH WAIT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT CECILIA PAYNE. Cecilia Paynes mother refused to spend money on her college education, so she won a scholarship to Cambridge. Cecilia Payne completed her studies, but Cambridge wouldnt give her a degree because she was a woman, so she said to heck with that and moved to the United States to work at Harvard. Cecilia Payne was the first person ever to earn a Ph.D. in astronomy from Radcliffe College, with what Otto Strauve called the most brilliant Ph.D. thesis ever written in astronomy. Not only did Cecilia Payne discover what the universe is made of, she also discovered what the sun is made of (Henry Norris Russell, a fellow astronomer, is usually given credit for discovering that the suns composition is different from the Earths, but he came to his conclusions four years later than Payneafter telling her not to publish). Cecilia Payne is the reason we know basically anything about variable stars (stars whose brightness as seen from earth fluctuates). Literally every other study on variable stars is based on her work. Cecilia Payne was the first woman to be promoted to full professor from within Harvard, and is often credited with breaking the glass ceiling for women in the Harvard science department and in astronomy, as well as inspiring entire generations of women to take up science. Cecilia Payne is awesome and everyone should know her.

15.01.2022 Merry Christmas to you all from Inspired Gardening Services.

07.01.2022 Thank you Jacqui for your feedback and kind words below, Craig. I can highly recommend Craig. He will be prompt an example, when he says a time, he will be there at that time. He did a great job getting my old sprinkler system working again perfectly. Craig has done a great job of pruning my roses and applying the appropriate spray afterwards to stop black spot. 04.01.2022 Hope you all had a good weekend. Some information to assist you with composting. Our Compost consist of layers including:... - soil at base - grass cuttings - food scraps - couple of handfuls of an organic fertiliser, to activate the microbes in the soil, which helps break it down quicker. Then repeat and build it up in layers. * No meat - as it attracts rodents * No cooked food - our preference * No rose clippings or tomato plants ~ if any disease present then you could possibly transmit it via the soil to another crop or to tomato plants. In our case we have 3 separate compartments so we can turn it from one to the other, to mix it up and help air rate, likewise a rolling compost bin does the same job. If you do not air rate then it becomes a slimmy, sloppy and smelly mess. We actually use a small treated post, placed upright in the middle of our compartments, so we can rotate / stir the compost every now and then to allow air circulation. What we use is a cold compost open to the elements which is slower in winter. You can also use hot compost with plastic over the top, and keep the temperature to 60+ degrees to kill of all seeds. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Craig, Inspired Gardening Services Mob: 0431 909 525

04.01.2022 Hi everyone, So the weather next week is forecast to be mid to high 30s. Please take care of yourself and keep well hydrated (I use hydra-lyte tablets). ... This leads me to my main point with Gardening. Outdoor pot plants (if possible): Keep all plants hydrated but not over watered, please dont water the leaves this includes all pot plants as the leaves may burn. With pot plants clump them together in groups as they will shade each others roots, soil and pots and ensure you have moisture in the saucers to help keep the root systems cooler and help reduce the moisture loss (transpiration) from the leaves. Outdoor Plants: If outside plants are brown do not trim them as this may be protecting the new growth underneath from direct sunlight and heat. Also if you need to shade plants from direct sunlight please use shade cloth for airflow purposes and if the plant is near a fence, then shade the fence as well, otherwise the plant will get massively burnt from reflection of the heat. Watering: Watering needs to be done in the cooler hours of the day to reduce plant evaporation (transpiration); give a good deep soaking (drink) as its so much better than a light sprinkle and you will not need to water as often. Because a consistent light sprinkle of water will give you a shallow root growth, as opposed to a deep soaking which gives a deeper root growth. The deeper the root growth the cooler the root system and the cooler the root system the less chance of death to your beloved plants. I hope this information helps all our followers during the upcoming week in preparation for the hot weather. Kind regards, Inspired Gardening Services Mob: 0431 909 525

02.01.2022 Now the blossoms are opening in the garden is a sign that spring is nearly here. This is the perfect time to give them a good feed as winter gives way to spring. So much work to be done in the garden with the first step to feed everything with slow release organic food. This includes feeding your pot plants with the exception of native ferns. Next add Epson salts diluted form around citrus trees.... Continue to weed around plants as best you can. Any queries please contact Craig or message Inspired Gardening Services.
