21.01.2022 Have you been taught to AIM HIGH Learning to aim high is an extremely valuable skill and is not often a skill that is freely talked about in the workplace! TRUTH BOMB - If you want to create your dream career, then you need to act as if you already have it ... You must BE who you need to be, so you can DO the necessary actions so you can HAVE what you want to have. What does this mean? Are you connecting with the person two roles above for a casual coffee to ask questions or shadow them in a meeting and present 1 or 2 slides? Why you ask? This will give you the opportunity to understand the competencies necessary for that particular role, so you can start developing and honing them well in advance. Leading yourself! So you can BE confident and engage, SO you can DO the work tasks and form relationships with employees above your current level and so you can HAVE what you want to have when the time is right. Think about this... if your current manager leaves and the manager above knows nothing about you. BUT if you are having meetings with the manager two roles above, you have a relationship that is built on trust, they understand your value, your strengths and skills that you can bring Knowing your inner wisdom and how you show up and your value can contribute greatly to the conversation. Lead yourself - think, feel and act as you want to be at that level Invest in yourself even when it feels scary and challenging because I know that working with coaches & EXPANDERS is what contributes to results I’m urging you to AIM HIGH! 21.01.2022 DO YOU AGREE? You can only inspire and influence people if you are happy with the reflection in the mirror! Or ... You won’t be a successful leader if you can’t become your own inspiring leader. So it wasn’t until I left my HR BP role and started looking into self-leadership that I questioned why don’t we deliver effective training on how to be a leader of our own lives! We attend the leadership 101 workshops and how to have crucial conversations about how to deliver and structure tough and performance conversations. But will you be able to deliver with impact and be taken seriously if you aren’t a role model and you aren’t seriously leading your own life? After 15 years working in HR I hadn’t linked poor performance to self-leadership I didn’t understand the impact on the importance to be aware of how we show up and understand the beliefs in our unconscious mind HR will only facilitate workshops to teach you how to perform skills and tell you won’t you are doing wrong, they won’t teach you how to lead your life. When individual contributions are promoted to leadership, you are no longer responsible for the results. You are responsible for the people who are responsible for the results. Truth be told I don’t think I would have be taken seriously if I started to ask leaders the following questions: What is your vision? What are your values? Do you understand the impact of your behaviour on your team? And one day I decided no opinion or fear was ever going to outweigh my view that inspiring leaders are missing from most organisations critical thinking is a core value of mine and that includes being self-aware and if I wanted to see change I needed to become the change first That’s why I created THE SELF-LEADERSHIP ACTIVATION COMMUNITY Because if you know it’s time to make a change and you’re COMMITTED doing so, but you feel a little overwhelmed with where to start It’s time to stop second-guessing why you are feeling uninspired with the current leadership and TAKE ACTION become your OWN LEADER No more feeling overwhelmed and burnout a community that we can share our deep desire to become a leader and the obstacles you may face.
