19.01.2022 Something I realised a while ago was that as woman we can’t compare. Especially when it comes to body image. I always hated my shoulders- they are big and wide and often don’t fit into tight jackets!! But a few years ago I realised what my shoulders can actually do for me!! And then I focused on them! Along with creating strong legs and glutes!! Why as woman do we have to compare ourselves to those who can manipulate lighting and angles!! Be you! Love you! Fitness Australia is calling for the removal of unnecessary COVID Marshal restrictions in h...ealth and fitness facilities before hundreds of metro and regional businesses go broke due to the increased costs and financial pressures associated with employing marshals during all operating hours. Most 24/7 gyms across NSW can no longer afford to operate 24 hours. They have been forced to reduce operating hours to ensure they can meet the COVID Marshal requirement. 09.01.2022 Wanted to say hello to all and to everyone new who might be following along! Thought I’d share again a little of my journey. I was diagnosed at 21 with type 2 diabetes- yes at a young age, but looking back I can see it had been underlying for years!... I didn’t really change my lifestyle because of it- and for many years I just lived feeling run down and tired- and especially overweight. It wasn’t until I had 2 children and ended up having to live on medication and injecting myself with insulin up to 4 times a day, I decided enough is enough. Drs told me it couldn’t be done- I felt I could do it and reverse this condition. I put in the hard work. My body became my experiment with food and exercise. I found what worked and I created a lifestyle. Mindset was often the hardest part- and still can be! Once I was finally rid of all medication- my then dr asked me if I had come to gloat! Yes I proved him wrong. He told me I never had to come back!! If you’ve gotten this far- I write all of this to say this! I know what it is to live unhealthy and overweight- I know what it’s like to eat in secret and to make yourself feel better- BUT I also know what it’s like to live with my body fueled correctly! And if I can- you can! I know have new goals! And I’m ready to smash them!! 09.01.2022 !!! !! Lifting weights has a greater capacity to burn fat. Lifting weights is going to give you the body composition you want- meaning a leaner and defined body shape. ... It gives you stronger bones- this means it keeps osteoporosis at bay It helps with our hormone regulation. Which means if you have a hormonal issue like insulin resistance or thyroid problems- this is for you!! Reduces the risk of heart disease Reduces risk of injury because we are creating a stronger core and body around that core! Improves our mental health and can be our stress release. Here’s why!! Muscle and fat have different energy requirements. Muscle actually burns more calories than fat. 1/2 kg of muscle burns 10 cals a day. Where 1/2kg of fat only burns 2 or 3 cals. Ladies!! Don’t be frightened to hit the gym and build some muscle ( your body won’t bulk like a man) - it will help metabolise fat and define your body.
