24.01.2022 . Breast Cancer Awareness Month . . . This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it focuses on Raising money to fund breast cancer research as well as educating every woman out there about your breasts and when to get checked . ... . At INSPIRE we are strong supporters of breast cancer awareness and research. . . . Normally at INSPIRE we would show our support through running our Pink Pilates sessions, however, this year due to the current environment we are saddened to say we won’t be able to run them. . . But that won’t stop us!!!. . . . Instead of our pilates sessions, for the rest of October INSPIRE will be doing a breast cancer and Lymphedema education series to help spread awareness and education about the condition. . . In addition to the series we will be posting the link to the National Breast Cancer Foundation donation site so help raising funds for research, because every little bit counts. . . . 22.01.2022 Time to check yourself out in the breast way possible. . As a woman it is so important to understand and be familiar with how your breasts look. .... By being educated and aware of our breasts and the symptoms of breast cancer is such a powerful tool for women to have in order to detect cancer early. . . . But what we found is that a lot of women don’t necessarily know how to conduct their own breast exam at home, so we thought we would gather the information for you and show you just how easy it is to check yourself out. . . . So feel away ladies. . This post will be outlining how you should be examining your breasts at home in order to help catch things early so please scroll right on this post and share to friends to help increase the rate of breast checks within women. . . 22.01.2022 . . At INSPIRE we are trying our very best to get back to treating all of our beautiful ladies. . .... . It is also very encouraging to know that our guiding body, The Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) feel the same as we do at INSPIRE. . . . This APA believes that allied health treatment, which includes physiotherapy, for clients trying to meet extremely narrow criteria is causing distress and potential long term harm to patients. . . They are therefore calling on the Victorian Government to help ease the restrictions to enable physios to treat patients who need their care who may not fit the current criteria of essential. . . As physiotherapists and as human beings we know that we need to take a proactive and at times preventative approach to our health, and by delaying care it can lead to worse health outcomes. . . . We at INSPIRE know these current restrictions have put us in a really difficult position when deciding who we are allowed to see. . . We want to work throughout this period to provide you all with the care and support you need and to give you the reassurance that we at INSPIRE and our governing body are pushing for change for you all. . . . As well as this Anna and Olivia attended a pregnancy update course over the weekend run by the Women’s Health Training Associates. . . . 10.01.2022 Christmas with the INSPIRE team.. . . This Saturday we were extremely grateful to celebrate the year with each other at the INSPIRE Christmas party. .... . . Following a glamorous limo ride into the city the team went for an afternoon drink and nibble at Transit bar followed by a cocktail course at Eau Die Vie where we learnt how to make 3 yummy cocktails. The gin Aviator came out as the clear overall favourite. . . . We then moved on to a beautiful dinner at chin chin where we got to enjoy each others company, talk about the year that was and how grateful we were for not only the team we are in but the clients and community we have. . . . We are so grateful to be able to experience a great night in the city and we can’t wait to come back in 2021 with bigger and better things so watch this space. . . . 08.01.2022 . Breast Cancer is the most common cancer for women in Australia and New Zealand. . It occurs when abnormal/ damaged cells grow in an uncontrolled manner and a tumour is formed, with most starting in the milk ducts. .... Going in to get your breasts checked increases the chances of early detection and diagnosis which ultimately means a better survival rate. . But when should you get your breasts checked? . . You should book in to see a doctor if you notice:. . Any new lumps. Changes in the shape of your breast. Changes in colour of your breast. Changes to nipple. Discharge from nipple. Dimpling of breast. Persistent breast pain. Persistent nipple itching/rash. . . It is important to note that there are normal breast changes that occur throughout your life that you should be aware of when checking your breasts. These normal changes in Breast tissue are affected by hormonal changes in the body during your menstrual cycle, pregnancy and lactation. . . 1 Prior to your period your breasts can become sensitive and tender lumpy. So the best time to conduct your check would be a few days after your menstrual period as the breasts will be less swollen and tender. . 2 For those experiencing menopause you can experience Increased breast discomfort so checking yourself should be done at start or end of month. . 3 It is also important to note that women with breast implants still need to do regular checks. . . 05.01.2022 Time to take cont-ROLL of your upper body aches and pain.. . . Is there anything the foam roller cant do?, its basically an at home physio that sits in the corner of your lounge room . .... . At INSPIRE you may have seen our physios and our admin team use the foam rollers throughout the day to help stretch out and feel our best.. . These quick and simple roller exercises of Rachel's are great if you: Sit at a desk for long periods of time . Drive frequently Regularly get tight in your upper back, neck and shoulders regions . . . . Set Up. . 1 Sit on one end of the roller and slowly the rest of your spine back along the length of the roller so your head is supported at the other end. . 2 You may need a small cushion/ folded towel under your head if your chin is higher than your forehead once you are lying down. . 3Have your feet planted down on the floor roughly hip distance apart or wider if you feel unsteady. . . 03.01.2022 Pec stretches. This is an extra strong stretch for your chest muscles. Make sure when your elbows come out to the side that they are in line with your shoulders. Once again make sure you keep your ribcage relaxed and maintain a neutral spine. .... . . 02.01.2022 Arm openings. You should feel a stretch in the front of your chest and possibly down your arms Make sure your rib cage stays relaxed and doesn’t flare when you open your arms out . . .

02.01.2022 Scissors. You may feel a stretch in your arms, shoulder blades and down the side of your body. Maintain a neutral spine, you should always have a gentle curve in your lower back but make sure that doesn’t increase as you take your arm over head. . .
