24.01.2022 So you've been able to keep a healthy balanced diet for the whole week, you've stuck to your exercise plan and you feel amazing! But the weekends here and you've been invited to go out for tea with friends. Your starting to stress and your about to say no............ until you remember reading that post on Facebook from that awesome PT and you realize that you can still enjoy that night out with friends (and even a glass of wine) without restricting yourself to only having... a bowl of lettuce. So here's some tips to help you keep on track when eating out. - stay active throughout the day- this will keep your metabolism burning to allow for the extra calories your likely to consume that night. - order a smaller serving- if it's not on the menu then ask for one. - try to stay away from chips, potato bake and anything crumbed. - instead of garlic bread for entree try ordering a small salad or save yourself for the main and use the time to catch up on the latest goss. - drink plenty of water throughout the day and before you head out. Staying hydrated will keep any hunger at bay and will help you make better choices. - THIS IS THE BIG ONE- ENJOY YOURSELF! In our busy lives it's a rare treat to be able to get out and enjoy time with friends. If the garlic bread is to hard to resist and the wine to good to refuse and you've made the decision to have it anyway then savor every moment. And please don't waste your energy on feeling guilty. Tomorrow is a new day, we'll get up ready to go and even more motivated because we had the chance to unwind with the people we love.

23.01.2022 The WORLD is NOT a terrible place it's just that there's SOME terrible people in the world..... Unfortunately all types of media love to glorify bad news it's a logic we have known forever that's why it's important to remind ourselves that although yes really shitty things happen and there are some awful people in the world there are also a shitload of beautiful people and a shitload of beautiful experiences that make this world a pretty cool place to live in..... This past f...ew weeks has shown me joy, kindness and beauty just in little things but enough to know that we can't give up on our planet just yet... my beautiful friend gave birth to another beautiful baby girl, I watch my sons grow into caring, generous and courageous young men, I see retail staff smile at customers who are blaming them for god knows what, I see people giving up their seats so that the older lady can have a rest and I see a dad holding his daughters hand as she heads to school. Sometimes we can become so overwhelmed with what is wrong with the world we forget what is right with it. It's time to switch off the news and live in ignorant bliss with our family and friends. Let's refocus let's live let's love and most of all let's laugh

23.01.2022 Here's some healthy cooking methods to remember next time your in the kitchen! Grilling/BBQ: Little to no oil needed when cooking over direct heat. Great for lean meats, chicken or vegetables. Panfry/ Stir Fry: Use a small amount of canola or olive oil. Great for lean meats, chicken or vegetables.... Steaming: Cook over a pot of boiling water. This method is great for chicken, fish or vegetables with no oil needed. Poaching: Cook meat and/or vegetables in a simmering pot of water or broth. Great for chicken, vegetables or even fruit. Roasting/Oven baking: Cook in oven on tray so excess fat can drip through. Excellent for all meats as well as vegetables and fruit.

12.01.2022 What I stand FOR: I stand for women learning to love themselves just the way they are. I want women to build confidence, strength and to feel empowered through exercise.... I want to teach women to live a balanced and healthy lifestyle. I want to help women to fit being healthy and active in to their busy lives without sacrificing precious time with their families. What I stand AGAINST: I stand against quick fixes. I stand against body shaming and people judging others based upon their body shape. I absolutely hate the idea that you have to be a certain size or shape to be seen as healthy, fit and strong!!!!

11.01.2022 Here’s a mid week session to get you on track for the downhill run to the weekend!!!

11.01.2022 It's 8pm kids are in bed, dishes are done (maybe) and Arrow is about to come on. It's the first time all day that you've had time to yourself. Your tired, no your exhausted, and your looking for something to help ease the tension, there's at least half a jar of Nutella in the cupboard and beside it a block of cadbury chocolate. You tell yourself you deserve a treat after the day you've had and it's ok you'll work it off tomorrow....... Sound familiar....... except I hate to s...ay you won't work it off tomorrow and yes you do deserve a treat after the day you've had but the best treat you can give yourself is health and wellness. I was that tired, no exhausted mummy who found comfort in a Nutella jar and/or a block of Cadbury chocolate once the kids had gone to bed. When I knew it was time to get up and get healthy this was one of the hardest habits for me to break it took time and alot of positive self talk. From time to time I would fail and still now all these years later the call of the Nutella jar can bring me undone. I knew the reasons why I was doing this I was seeking comfort and solitude after a crazy day and that's ok we all need this we deserve it. So I replaced the Nutella and Dairy Milk for a piping hot cup of tea I would take pleasure in not just sipping it but making it too pulling out my favourite cup, getting the tea bag out, pouring the water into the cup and watching the water change as the tea bag lets out it's flavor, I would take in the smell and then once it was ready I would find my favourite spot on the lounge and slowly enjoy my hot cup of heaven. Now I look forward to that hot cup of tea just as much as I once looked forward to digging into the Nutella jar. The reward is a healthier body and mind and that is so worth it.... What unhealthy habit would you like to replace??? Comment below or inbox I'd love to help you.....

05.01.2022 Lessons I've learnt......... My personal journey has taken me on many highs and a few lows. I've had great successes and some pitfalls. To help you on your's I thought I would share with you some things I've learnt along the way. - Take small steps- try not to conquer the world in your first week. Add a little exercise to your day and let it build up over time. Make small changes to improve your diet at first and slowly work at keeping it clean.... - Remove junk food from the house- if it's not in the house you can't have it. When those 3pm cravings hit you'll only have healthy options to choose from. - Play with your kids- get out with the kids, kick a footy, bounce a basketball or play hide and seek. Not only is this a great way to add a little more movement but it's a fantastic opportunity to spend some quality time together.... - The most important lesson I've learnt is to be kind to yourself. There will be days you don't want to exercise or days when you eat the whole block of cadbury. We all know it's not the healthiest of options but we are human. Don't let these days turn into weeks. Forgive yourself, wake up the next day and start fresh. Guilt is an unnecessary emotion move on and keep going !!!!! YOU'VE GOT THIS!!!!

04.01.2022 Here’s some reasons why I love my Garmin (fitness tracker) Accountability This is a big one (1) for those who need a little push out the door to get moving (especially in the morning). Most fitness trackers work with third party apps where you can challenge a buddy to a workout and post your planned sessions to keep yourself accountable to your exercise program. Research has shown that social exercise (whether via a digital support group or live) aids in helping us perform mo...re regular exercise and avoid pulling the cover over our heads to sleep in. Plus, when you do get in that activity, you can share it on social media with your active friends. Motivation Another benefit to fitness trackers is the visual progress you see as you log your time moving including seeing how many steps you take during the day and the motivation that comes with that information. On average, it is recommended that we take ten-thousand (10,000) steps per day to be in the healthy, active category of movement. The numbers allow you to see the reality of your movement, or lack thereof and motivate you to get up and get moving during the day. Plus many of the devices include their own apps where you can visually see when you’re the most active during the day and more. Seeing is believing and data is motivating. Healthy Eating We all know living a healthy lifestyle involves both regular activity and a healthy diet and trackers offer feature a fuel and hydration log to help you keep track of the quantity and quality of your everyday fuel. You can enter your food choices, water intake during the day, and evaluate the quality of your diet to inspire better choices. Goal Setting. One (1) of the key features of fitness trackers is the ability to set goals and achieve them. Whether it is to lose five (5) kilos or increasing your non-exercise activity (general movement in the day), by tracking your exercise, fuel, and sleep, you are hands on in learning what it takes and how to achieve any goal you set. Goal setting keeps you focused on progress and personal fitness evolution. It’s the difference between wanting to be fit, and actively engaging in a plan to live a fit and active lifestyle. Sleep Tracking The quality of your sleep can affect everything from your metabolism, cravings, energy, mood and safety. Many fitness trackers can track your sleep patterns, not only showing you how long you slept, but whether it was a deep or light sleep throughout the night and how many times you woke up. Seeing your daily steps and realising the quality of your sleep is less than optimal can inspire life changing sleep habits, which will improve your life performance. Making exercise a habit

04.01.2022 Here are some points to remember when meal planning: 1. Thing about how many meals you need to plan for. 2. Work out what you have time for go over the planner for the week and work out the days you need to have something quick and easy on hand and the days you have time to put into something that requires a little extra work.... 3. Think about your food mood. Thinking about how certain situations affect your mood in relation to what you eat beforehand will make the recipe selection process faster and meal times easier on everyone. 4. Your budget- a good idea to help you eat better for less is to look around for sales and seek out seasonal produce.

03.01.2022 To an Amazing mum, Before I became a mum I knew it all! I knew that those mums with the screaming kids were obviously doing something wrong. The mums whose kids wouldn't eat anything but chicken nuggets and 2 minute noodles weren't trying hard enough. The mums who turned up late for everything or didn't turn up at all were either lazy or just not dedicated enough. And then it all changed- my bouncing baby boy made his stunning entrance in to the world. I found myself wasting ...the days just looking at him. How could you love someone that you've never met so much from the ,moment you laid eyes on them. I felt like there's no way I could give him everything he needed and everything I wanted to give him and be the best version of myself, I don't matter anymore, I can wait, I don't need to be healthy and fit as long as he is that's all that matters. So blissfully unaware I went through my days with 100% of my focus on being his mum and nothing else. I didn't bother with looking in the mirror, shopping for nice clothes and my scales gathered dust. I turned 26 and at this stage I had 2 amazing boys, a broken heart, poor health and I was dying on the inside. Self pity and disgust was a common feeling for me. I started to hate the idea of going outside of the house not to mention the sinking feeling I would get when trying on clothes. It took a comment from a friend comparing me to someone whom I saw personally as insecure and self loathing (my ex partners now wife) to finally flick the switch. My friend didn't mean anything nasty by the comment she was saying that my ex was simply choosing to be with someone that was quite similar to me, there was no way I wanted to be compared with her ever again. From that very moment I have never looked back! I have found myself again. I know that my boys get so much more from their fit, healthy and confident mummy then the old, tired and depressed mum. I stopped making excuses (there's no time- I will make time- I can't afford it- I can't afford not to- what will I do with the boys- I will take them with me) So I'm telling you for every reason you think you can't is the very reason you should! Now is the time to make the change - You deserve it!!!

02.01.2022 All to often I hear that the biggest barrier people have to taking part in an exercise program is lack of time! I’m going to attempt to help any one out there struggling with time to overcome this barrier so that you can make exercise fit in to your life. Here are some tips:... - For a few days keeps a journal of how you spend the hours in your day, time spent on preparing meals, time at work, time with kids, time watching tv...... after you’ve done this look back over the journal and see if you can find spare time that you can use on physical activity. Ideally you would be looking to find 30 minutes a day but if this is to hard you can spread the 30 minutes over the day- 3 x 10 minute blocks or 2 x 15 minute blocks.... - Try parking your car a little further away from your workplace or when you go shopping so that you will need to walk further. - Instead of sitting down in your lunch break take your lunch with you and go for a walk. - While watching your favourite shows do some form of exercise or hit record and go for a walk instead. - set the alarm 30 minutes earlier in the morning (trust me after a week or 2 you get use to it and your body thanks you for it ) These are just a few tips I can give you to help find time in the day to get some exercise in. Feel free to inbox me or comment below if you have any questions!!!
