23.01.2022 Your medical treatment and the border FYI

23.01.2022 You might have heard me talk about low level laser treatment (LLLT), I am now offering it as part of your treatment in clinic LLLT is non invasive and the laser I have purchased is the only laser device cleared by the FDA for lymphoedema treatment. The LLLT brings about a photochemical reaction at a cellular level, it penetrates into tissue where it is absorbed by cells and converted into energy and that influences the course of metabolic processes. The LLLT increases lym...ph flow, blood flow and cellular activity. It reduces inflammation and accelerates tissue regeneration. It can be used for many things from arthritis, injuries, bursitis, tendonitis, fibromyalgia, sinusitis, wound healing, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, scar tissue reduction, visably improves the appearance of scars and so much more! For my lymphoedema patients the LLLT will increase lymph motoricity, repair and regenerate damaged lymph vessels, increase macrophage activity and change the thixotropic nature of the tissue ie soften all of those fibrosis congested areas. Oh and did I mention seroma reduction If you want to know more ask me at your next treatment See more

19.01.2022 Safety advisory - Zostavax vaccine People with compromised immune function should not be given the Zostavax vaccine as there is a risk of complications from... infection with the vaccine virus. Sadly, there have been three fatalities associated with Zostavax. Zostavax is used to prevent shingles and to treat nerve pain associated with the varicella-zoster virus, and is included on the National Immunisation Program for people aged 70 to 79 years. While serious reactions are very rare, it is important that consumers and carers are aware of the risks and that you speak to your health professional if you have any concerns. If you become unwell after vaccination, you should seek medical attention and tell your doctor that you have recently received Zostavax. Read more: https://www.tga.gov.au/alert/zostavax-vaccine-1

19.01.2022 This is a pretty good basic overview

18.01.2022 Lipoedema- some times referred to as painful fat syndrome, it affects mostly women. Primarily presents in the legs and can affect the arms, hips, buttocks and abdomen. It’s a controversial subject in medicine and is terribly under recognised, on the flip side we are seeing women being over diagnosed and offered expensive liposuction surgeries to remove the excess tissue. This guide is a great resource, as always I recommend a balanced approach, diet, MLD, compression, exercise and multiple opinions from specialists in the field. https://lymphaticnetwork.org//Lipedema_-_The_Disease_They_

18.01.2022 Hands up if this is you!

17.01.2022 Menopause whether you have gone through it naturally, chemically or surgically induced is a whole new ballgame. Although we are overcome with many physical and emotional changes it comes with the gift of wisdom and an entirely new chapter of growth We are women hear us roar

17.01.2022 This is my go to breakfast homemade granola, buckwheat, quinoa, quinoa flakes, chia, coconut, oat bran, almonds, hazelnut, pecans, cinnamon (loads ), sunflower seeds, pepitas, salt and monk fruit for sweetness all massaged with coconut oil and toasted in the oven packed full of fibre, protein.

16.01.2022 Although a small study this is interesting.

15.01.2022 You are what you drink! These are the replacement filters for my alkaline water filter system. Before the tap water gets into this filter it goes through two larger filters. Removing chlorine, heavy metals, bacteria, microorganisms, colours, smells, fluoride these filters also charge the water with nutrient absorption, low negative ORP leaving the water less acidic. Chlorine and fluoride leach the iodine out of our bodies, iodine is essential for many things most importantly the endocrine system.

15.01.2022 Talk to me about the best detergent to use for cleaning your garments if you have forgotten, most detergents will degregate and shorten the life of your compression

13.01.2022 This is a fantastic development there’s always something new around the corner

09.01.2022 Stay informed of your options, read on below

09.01.2022 It’s not often I read an accurate description of lymphoedema but read this one! It’s 100% on the money! It is vital to get early intervention and education to avoid the life long burden of lymphoedema. I only wish I could see more patients before they reach stage 2. Prevention and education is key

08.01.2022 we have to have an holistic view, yes you may have a joint issue but your pain may be coming from the connective tissue, inflammation within the lymphatic pathways is so often overlooked. You gotta treat it all, structures, musculoskeletal, connective tissue and lymphatic pathways!

08.01.2022 You may of heard me talk about the SIJ - Sacroiliac Joint when it’s cranky it can made you downright miserable there are lots of ways to treat it, one of the most effective ways are using deep lymphatic techniques . Here’s a video that describes the SIJ really well. https://www.spine-health.com//sacroiliac-joint-dysfunction

06.01.2022 Did you know that after just 12minutes of MLD (with a qualified Vodder therapist) you receive a full body systemic effect? It’s true so when you have your treatment and you think only your arm has benefited it’s no so - your whole body has received lymphatic drainage.

06.01.2022 Elevate your affected side

04.01.2022 The consult right before your treatment is so important and helps you to receive the most effective treatment for your body. While it may seem odd if I ask you about your bowels, previous surgeries or digestion everything I ask you is painting an wholistic picture of your body, every answer gives me clues on how to best treat you.

04.01.2022 I love being taught new things! One of my lovely long term patients shared this app with me yesterday it’s really good and I’ve been scanning everything in our pantry all about making better choices and it’s free!

04.01.2022 A really brave lady to speak out about lipoedema, I’ve got it and so have many of my amazing patients, let’s hope this sparks both awareness, compassion and funding. Check out the video of the interview here:~ https://9now.nine.com.au//0cdf3abb-677a-421b-9cde-23caa917

04.01.2022 Prof John is always worth tuning into if you have time. He really ‘gets it’ and he is a really lovely man

03.01.2022 I recently received one of these chi machines. My professor of Lymphology Neil Pillar ran a trial (link below). I have only used it a few times however it makes a big impact in a short time especially on the brain fog and circulation Some benefits are: CHI MACHINE BENEFITS.... Chi Machine Benefits include muscle pain relief, increase in local blood circulation and oxygen via gentle motion of the entire body, energy increase, mental focus, stable back support alignment (used lying flat), promotes lymph drainage (as documented in Australian clinical trials), internal massage, physical and mental release from tension, fatigue and stress, the promotion of deeper, improved breathing, balance of the autonomic nervous system and relaxation. When the machine stops, a unique rush of Chi energy is felt from head to toe. If you want to give it a go, let me know at your next treatment. https://www.chimachine4u.com/chimedical.html

03.01.2022 I thought I would put together this little clip on self drainage of the neck, its really important to stay ontop of your self brushing during this time we are unable to have a physical session. Let me know what you think

02.01.2022 Treatment for lymphoedema and general oncology massage are two very different things! If you are having any signs of lymphoedema like strange sensations, pain, swelling, tenderness, temperature changes, rashes, cording, fluttery sensations, fullness or heaviness please do not see an oncology massage person, see a fully qualified Lymphoedema Therapist your therapist should be able to educate you, provide excercises, provide manual decongestive therapy, measure, fit and supp...ly compression garments, offer adjunct therapy such as ultrasound, cold low level laser and lymphatic taping. It is heartbreaking for me to see patients whom believe they have been getting the right treatment with a qualified therapist but their lymphoedema has progressed and they lost precious time, wasted money and energy by seeing a therapist who does not have the adequate skills to help. The ALA (Australian Lymphology Association) or Vodder Schools International have lists of qualified therapists in your area Knowledge is power See more

02.01.2022 PLEASE SHARE: New locations and times have been added to the contact tracing advice. We’re asking everyone to check the updated locations and times carefully: ...www.qld.gov.au//coronavirus/current-status/contact-tracing If you’ve been at any of the venues at the specified times, get tested and follow the advice on the Queensland Health website about your isolation period. #covid19
