25.01.2022 A non negotiable for us is prepping your skin We take your skin and its outcome very seriously. I feel I need to address this as we have had quiet a few new clients questioning us and trying to push us to do advanced treatments such as skin needling and chemical peels with out the prepping process. ... It's a big NO for us. No matter what other clinics do or tell you, we just won't do it. Our priority is you and your skin and we will never jeopardise it. Imagine putting a roof on a house with out its foundation in tact. You can't! Your skin is the same, strengthen the foundation and your results and outcome are endless. Sorry if it's not what you want to hear, what I can tell you is we will only work with integrity and honesty. So please don't ask us to skip the prepping process, we hate saying NO but we will. There are a few reasons that actually cause those frustrating dark pigment spots we all want gone so much. ... Let's start with stage 1 the activation of the melanocyte cells (what make the colour in your skin): Hormones, UV exposure, post treatment outcomes, genetics and medication. All of these factors send a signal saying hey melanocyte cell can I please have some colour for protection. So pigment isn't all that bad. Something to keep in mind is not all skins are alike. This means post treatment outcomes can vary dramatically. ... Clients that have strong prepped skin may not see a dramatic response on the surface. I can guarantee major responses are happening underneath the skin. The two most common outcomes we see are: Purging- This is where bacteria, dead skin or anything lying dormant under the skin needs to come out. How long does this take to clear up? Tough to give a definitive answer anywhere from a few days to a week or even 2. Shedding- This is where you dead skin is pushed up and starts to flake off. It doesn't happen for everyone (me included ) How long does this last? Anywhere from a few days to a week.
