25.01.2022 Michael takes you through the finished insulation at this Mandurah home. We installed a Bradford Gold R6 batt after removing the old blow in insulation. With the roof being flat and having a raked ceiling, we had to tile lift around the exterior of the roof. To complement the insulation, we installed Edmonds Windmaster whirlybirds. Whisper quiet, these extract the heat from the roof space. Like lifting a lid of a boiling pot of water, the roof space remains cooler, preventing heat radiating downwards into your home. 24.01.2022 SolarXVENT is a solar roof ventilator that helps reduce the temperature and humidity in the roof cavity. When SolarXVENTs panel is exposed to the sun light, the fan is activated, exhausting heat and humidity. This can help reduce summer temperatures inside the roof, maintain the performance of ceiling insulation and reduce the cost of running ducted air conditioning. 23.01.2022 Its amazing how such a small thing like a sensor light in your home can create a draft. In fact, drafts can account for up to 15% of your heat loss / gain in your home

22.01.2022 Another happy customer!

21.01.2022 The double brick cavity was originally designed to prevent moisture build up on the internal brickwork, thus preventing mould and mildew. It is therefore crucial that the insulation does not allow moisture build up. Whilst neither fibreglass, rockwool or polystyrene will hold water in the material, it is the installation that can create problems. Both rockwool and fibreglass are in fibres and clumps of insulation material. So whilst they dont absorb the water, they can allo...w water to get stuck in the cavity and traverse from the external skin to the external skin. InsulGuard Cavity Shield is a loose polystyrene bead. Due to the spherical nature of the bead, water is pulled downwards through the cavity with gravity. Therefore, it is the only product that wont allow water to get trapped inside the double brick cavity. 19.01.2022 Another happy customer leaving a Google Review!

19.01.2022 Check out Les & Mandys Google Review Our insulation journey began weeks ago when we noticed that our ceiling had dropped 8 inches (20cm) throughout our 5-bedroom home in the Hills. After getting it re-pinned, we were strongly advised to quickly remove the old 22yr-old blow-in insulation. The search began for quotes and time was of the essence! Michael from InsulGuard was quick to respond to our plea for help. Although his quote wasnt the cheapest, we wanted to go... with a contractor who was reputable, efficient, prompt, friendly and who had good reviews and excellent customer service skills. Securing a time to carry out the work, Michael, Ricky and Bernadette all worked hard to ensure that the job was done properly. 6 massive bags of old stale, infested and moisture-laden insulation were vacuum extracted from our roof-space, along with eaten-out air-ducting and 5 deceased Hills critters!! We followed Michaels advice to upgrade to the R5.1 batts and we couldnt be happier with our cosy home. The wood-burning stove now radiates warmth which doesnt escape through the ceiling, and the basket of patchwork quilts for guests to use, are no longer needed. (Nothing worse as a guest than to receive a quilt along with a welcome as soon as you set foot in the house!!!!!) Michael and his team had an incredibly arduous task within our cramped, unhealthy roof-space and we are delighted with the outcome. Not only are we warm and snug, but we feel a great sense of relief knowing that our ceiling and all its contents arent going to collapse around us at any moment. Thanks so much guys for cleaning up afterwards and for your prompt attention, professional expertise, and warm friendly attitude throughout this whole process and ordeal. We also were happy to take your advice and install two Whirliebirds to help with the moisture issues. Great job everyone, and we will highly recommend you to others. Were extremely grateful and wish your company every blessing and success. Cheers, Les and Mandy See more

17.01.2022 From the outside, youre home may look well sealed. It doesnt get wet inside when it rains right? Whilst most homes are normally waterproof, that doesnt mean they are sealed from external temperature changes. Before installing Cavity Shield, we need to make sure the cavity is sealed up. This is because of the small nature of the bead, it can find and escape through the smallest cracks. In this video, Michael shows you how something as simple as around the door can be r...esponsible for our beads escaping, and your heat loss and gain. 15.01.2022 There are hundreds of houses in every suburb with old insulation. Not only is it ineffective as an insulator, but it may also be a fire hazard. Michael from InsulGuard explains how.

15.01.2022 YourHome - Australias Guide to Environmentally Sustainable Homes (published by Australian Government). https://yourhome.gov.au Hear what they say about cavity brick walls ... Cavity brick walls have high thermal mass, but without insulation are usually too cold in winter and often too hot in summer if exposed to prolonged heat wave conditions. If the cavity is insulated, the internal thermal mass (i.e. the internal brick skin) is protected from external temperature changes, and becomes highly effective at regulating temperatures within the home. Insulate existing cavities by sealing the bottom of the cavity if it is open to the subfloor, and pumping in loose bulk material to a measured density. This has been common practice in the UK and Europe for many years, and is becoming available in Australia, usually in one of the following forms: Small polystyrene balls (produced with carbon dioxide) coated in a non-toxic bonding agent are pumped in at regular points around the building. The bonding agent solidifies and locks all the balls in place. Mineral fibres are blown into the cavity either through a series of small holes, as above, or into the top of the cavity if it is accessible. Known as mineral wool, this material is treated with a moisture repellent to keep the insulation and cavity dry. Read more - https://www.yourhome.gov.au/passive-design/insulation

11.01.2022 A not-so common insulation material we come across, vermiculite was used decades ago as a roof insulation. It was commonly chosen for its heat retention properties, meaning it stopped heat transfer through the roof. Unfortunately, it had two main dangers in homes. Firstly, many vermiculite products contained asbestos. Whilst more common in the Eastern states of Australia, it is a known issue with vermiculite insulation. The second issue, as seen in this video, is the excess ...weight it puts on your ceilings. This excess weight can lead to sagging, cracking and eventually ceiling failure. We recommend any insulation older than 10 years be removed an upgraded to prevent ceiling damage and meet building code requirements. 10.01.2022 What exactly are you looking at? This is ants coming and going through the "weep holes" in the brickwork. These holes are a necessity to prevent moisture buildup in your cavity. However, unfortunately that makes them a highway for ants, termites and all creepy crawleys! Stay tuned for our next video once we install a weep hole blocker and start installing Cavity Shield
