25.01.2022 5 HACKS FOR A STRESS-FREE CHRISTMAS! While the festive season is a cheerful one, it is also a stressful one. From family to finances, time pressure to expectations, there are so many reasons why Christmas may make us feel anxious, worried or stressed. That is why we have compiled a list of our top tips to bring the merry back to Christmas! 1. BUDGET - Worried about finances? Then sticking to a budget for gifts and celebrations is the solution. We recommend making a list of ...all of your regular monthly expenses and planned expenses (eg - holidays or parties). Subtract this from your monthly budget and use this figure as a guide to how much you can spend on the festive season. 2. REACH OUT - Speaking up can be hard, but silence is harder. Reach out to family and friends for support over the festive season or seek help professionally. If you choose the professional route, our lovely therapist Margo has a few booking available and offers free 10 minute consultations for new customers. 3. LET GO OF EXPECTATIONS - No two families are the same, which means no two Christmas’s are either. Let go of the picture-perfect expectation of Christmas and be realistic about what the celebration will look like for you and your family. 4. AVOID OVERINDULGING - Stress leads to a range of coping mechanisms, many of which are not helpful. Overindulging in rich and unhealthy foods or alcohol may feel like a short-term solution to festive stress, but we can promise it does more harm than good. From feeling bloated to hungover, sad to sluggish, overindulging will cause you more stress in the long run. 5. TREAT YOURSELF - Take some time out for yourself to relax and de-stress. Listen to a motivating podcast, read your favourite book, meditate for 10 minutes or book yourself a relaxing treatment such as crystal reiki. Our fabulous practitioner, Jen, still has a few bookings available for her calming crystal reiki sessions. Have any other hacks for a stress-free Christmas? Share them below! #christmas #stressfree #destress

24.01.2022 Did you know this shocking fact? On average, men live six years less than women globally. Six whole years. And what’s worse? Many are for largely preventable reasons. In honour of Movember, the month dedicated to men’s health awareness, we have compiled a little list of actions that we all can take to lead longer and healthier lives!... Keep connected - Spend time those who make you feel good. Laugh, share stories and have fun. Move your body- Walk to work, go for a morning run or take an afternoon bike ride. Anything to move your body and release those ‘feel good’ endorphins. Reach out - Speaking up can be hard, but silence is harder. Be willing to accept the need for help, both professionally or from a loved one. At the same time, being there to listen to someone is equally important. Don’t forget to check - Get to know your nuts. Check them regularly and seek medical help if something’s doesn’t feel right. Take out time for self-care - Self-care is equally important for men as it is for women. Set aside time each day, even if it’s only 10 minutes, to do what you love. Read, listen to a podcast, meditate or go for a long drive. Ask the Doctor - At 50, discuss prostate cancer with your doctor and see whether a PSA test is right for you. If you have a family history of prostate cancer or if you are of African or Caribbean descent, visit at 45. Fuel with food - Nourish your body with the right foods. Ensure your diet consists of plenty of vegetables, fruits, proteins and healthy fats. Know any other actions we could add to the list? Share in the comments below! Want to learn more? 16.01.2022 What is cupping? Have you ever seen someone with strange circular marks lined down their back? Then it’s most likely that they have experienced a cupping treatment. Cupping is an ancient form of Chinese medicine that works to encourage the flow of blood and Qi, resulting in the elimination of pathogens and toxins from the body. Cupping does this by creating a vacuum inside special glass cups which are placed directly onto the skin. Is it painful? Quite the contrary. By work...ing to remove toxic substances from the body, this form of Chinese Medicine works to both reduce pain and promote healing. Whilst you may be left with bruise-like marks on your skin for a few days, we think the healing benefits are well worth it. Limited bookings remain before Christmas! Book with our excellent Chinese medicine therapists, Hannah, Nicolette or Danielle, to experience cupping today. Have you tried cupping before? Share your experience below! #cupping #chinesemedicine

12.01.2022 Have you hopped on the band-wagon of this health trend? Celery juice, the miracle juice that sent the world into a spin. 12.01.2022 Did you know this about Chinese herbs? Chinese herbs are a powerful way to restore energy imbalances in the body and treat a wide range of health conditions. But did you know that there are several different forms in which you can consume these healing herbs to best suit you and your lifestyle? Raw Herbs: Quickly absorbed into the body and easily tailored to suit your needs, this is one of the most efficient forms of taking Chinese herbs. Simply boil the raw herbs and dri...nk the decoction liquid remaining. However, for those with time constraints or sensitive palates, this form may not be right for you. Granules: Raw herbs are concentrated and powdered for quick and easy use. Simply dissolve in water and drink. However, due to the amount of processing involved in their production, they tend to be more expensive than raw herbs. Tincture: Raw herbs are steeped in an alcohol solution for several weeks, removing the need for any boiling or dissolving. Simply consume by placing a few drops on the tongue. However, formulas in this form may be less tailored. Patent Pills: Traditional herbal formulas are processed into pills for convenience. Quick, easy and tasteless. However, patent pills are less potent than raw herbs and formulas may be less tailored. Have you tried Chinese herbs before? We would love to know which form worked for you. 10.01.2022 Sore back? This could be why... With the workplace now at home for many of us, it can be hard to balance work life with home life. The ease of whipping out our laptop and clocking on whilst still wrapped up in our cosy pjs has seen many of us staying in work mode for longer than usual. As a consequence, this means sitting down at our desks for longer too. Unfortunately, this isn’t so good for our back. Sitting down, particularly when we slouch over our screens, can put exce...ss pressure on our back, shoulders and spinal discs. This is why we often feel achy and stiff after a long day of work. Think this could be you? Our excellent Osteopath, Jessica, can help. During consultations, she will provide a hands-on approach to treat back pain, including massage and manipulation. She will also be able to suggest ways you can relieve discomfort at home during the workday, such as through simple stretches and regular movement. Bookings are filling fast! Relieve your back pain by booking with Jessica TODAY. #soreback #osteopath

03.01.2022 SLOW DOWN AND READ THIS 2020 has been a challenging year, to say the least. And now, as things slowly start to reopen, we face yet another challenge... OVER SCHEDULING. More work, more meetings, more family time and more social activities. This on top of Christmas being right around the corner, and you have yourself an equation for disaster. But how can you avoid over scheduling? Here are our top tips: 1. Prioritise- Grab out a notebook and pen and write down your top 5 val...ues (eg - family, work, money, time, food...) and compare it with a list of commitments you’ve made. If a commitment doesn’t match with one of your top five values, ask yourself: Is this a really a priority? 2. Limit procrastination - How many hours do you spend on social media each day? How long do you spend binging Netflix? Could you make better use of this time? Short answer: YES. 3. Know when you are most productive - Are you a morning person, straight out of bed and ready to work? Or do you kick in later on, pumping out work in the afternoon? Know when you are most productive and schedule your workday around it. 4. Plan your day - Every night, take 5-10 minutes to plan the following day. From the moment you wake up to the moment your head hits the pillow, schedule yourself times to get all you need done. Be sure to leave 15-20 minutes between each activity to ensure that your plan is realistic. Have any other tips that work for you? Tell us below! #overscheduled #busy
