There are some great resources that can help you navigate this journey, with our c...ommunity and your network being a key part of this process. 24.01.2022 A beautifully written article will resonate with so many here in our community ... it talks not only to the separations happening in this current environment, but also the closeness we have despite the physical distance... "For people whove always lived near their relatives, it might seem like my family isnt close. I have two siblings, and at one point we were all living at least 3,000 miles away from our parents. But families like ours will recognize that our inclination... towards distance is a kind of closeness in itself: by going away we were being unoriginal, following in the footsteps of our parents, who themselves both were immigrants when they were young. When you grow up with people who are out of place, sometimes theres nothing more comfortable than being somewhere you feel foreign. My siblings and I had confidence to seek adventure in far-flung destinations because we knew that our parents had flourished when they migrated and because we knew that we could always go home." #expatlife #expatriate #globalstories
23.01.2022 There are six actions Insync founder Margot Andersen says returning expats must consider before and upon returning home after living abroad. "While I have ultimately rebuilt my career and do not regret my decision to return to Australia, there are many things that I wish had considered and planned for prior to loading all my worldly goods into that shipping container," writes Insync founder Margot Andersen. "Doing so would have helped me prepare more effectively both socially... and professionally." The need for strategic career planning upon the return 'home' to Australia after living abroad has never been more vital. #globalstories #returnedexpats Read more: https://www.insyncnetworkgroup.com//homeward-bound-managi/

22.01.2022 Living overseas often brings that sense of literally having the whole world in your hands ... or at the very least at your fingertips! Be it work opportunities, travel options and lifestyle choices, somehow it all just felt bigger and diverse! For many returning home, (especially at this time of Covid) it can feel like the world just got a whole lot smaller and harder to navigate. If you are one of the many Aussies returning home at this time, contact us to learn how we can help you connect and resettle both personally and professionally. #expatlife #expat #repat #repatriate
22.01.2022 Everything that this article talks to is why Insync Network Group was started.... To connect returning Aussies with those who understand the return journey and who can share networks and support to navigate what often feels like a closed market. Australia has much to gain in welcoming these talented individuals home, if we can be open to exploring ways to leverage the knowledge, experience and networks returning expats bring. #welcomehome #repatriation #expat #expatlife ... https://www.afr.com//covid-19-trigger-for-expats-to-come-h

17.01.2022 And we are live! Our new podcast Boomeranging: Expat to Repat is here. https://bit.ly/38aTz7Z In our first series you will will hear from six Aussies who have returned from all corners of the globe and successfully navigated all those 'invisible challenges' of career, family and friends. Join me in this first episode as I chat with Bryce Corbett - a journalist, communications specialist and published author. ... Bryce was finishing up a two-year working holiday visa as a journalist in the UK when he applied for a job in Paris he never thought he would get. He returned to Australia 10 years later with a wife, two kids and a dangerous obsession with cheese. He describes the first few months of the return, after 12 European winters, like ‘walking around in a daze’; and realising that to a large extent his CV had hit ‘pause’ as far as many employers were concerned. I have no doubt many of you will relate to the story of his return regardless of where your adventures took you! We'd love to hear your feedback and what resonated most for you! And of course if you enjoyed it, please subscribe on all your favourite platforms. #expat #expatriate #repat #repatriation #expatlife #returninghome

14.01.2022 Reducing the lag time upon #returninghome means having a plan to re-enter the Australian market after working abroad. Many recent repatriates may have found themselves returning upon very short notice, without the opportunity to map out their next move. If you are one of the Aussies who have suddenly found themselves on Australia shores, contact us to learn more about how we can help you re-settle both personally and professionally. Whats your global story?
14.01.2022 Hearing stories such as this is heartbreaking and one that I know we as a community empathise with. Repatriation is hard at the best of times, let alone when we feel as though we have no choice. If you are in this situation or if you have friends who are, please share our community details and stories with them. ... Whilst it is no doubt a difficult time to return 'home', knowing that there are people here who understand the situation - many of who are also navigating the same path - and who can share insights and networks helps with the transition process. #community #repat #expatlife #globalstories #globalcareers

14.01.2022 "Home has never felt so good." An interesting perspective on #returning to Australia from abroad from Robert Gottliebsen in The Australian. He writes: "For the first time in a generation Australias expat community is starting to come home and they are crowding quarantine facilities. And why wouldnt they come home? We are a country with low COVID-19 infection and death rates and hidden potential."... Are you currently abroad, and in light of COVID-19, are considering returning home? Or, have you recently returned? How do you feel about being 'home'? We would love to hear your thoughts. https://www.theaustralian.com.au//66d017f11b194b55ed29aeb1

10.01.2022 New York was the City of Dreams for Jane Hollman when she got home, Melbourne was her nightmare. How many of Insync Network Group followers have returned to Australia only to find local recruiters don’t know what to make of their international experience? After Jane Hollman spent five years working in senior HR roles for major multi-nationals in New York, she returned home to Melbourne to be blatantly told that her New York experience wasn’t relevant. ... I wish Jane’s story told in our latest podcast was unique but it’s not, I hear it a lot. To help people in this situation, I have also written some tips for how you can mitigate the risk. Would love to hear from you if you have had this experience. expat #expatlife #repat #repatriate #returninghome

07.01.2022 Social distancing does not have to mean disconnection. 06.01.2022 I had many ‘woe is me moments’ and my identity took a hit. For a while I didn’t know who I was without the autocue and bouffant hair! Nicole Webb, journalist, author and repat was looking forward to some down time when she and her husband moved to Hong Kong and later Xi'an in China. Little did she realise just how much her identity was shaped by her work. Determined to find ways to leverage her twenty years of media experience she set about creating the classic portfolio ca...reer whilst also shaking off the 'trailing spouse' tag - a term she is not fond of. She recently published her book 'China Blonde' about her family's experiences but you can grab a glimpse into her story here: https://bit.ly/2J3olph Nicole is also joining us at our upcoming Virtual Wine on the 01st December as our guest speaker so be sure to reserve your (free) spot here https://bit.ly/2HqWRcp #expattorepat #repat #expatlife
