These fake emails ask you to provide valuable perso...nal information, including copies of your driver’s licence and Medicare card. Don’t provide the information requested, and delete the email straight away. If you receive a message claiming to be from the ATO asking for your personal information, phone us on 1800 008 540 to make sure it’s legitimate. If your myGov account is linked to our online services, we’ll let you know once your employer has made your income statement ‘tax ready’ - then, it can be used to do your tax return. Recorded phone calls claiming to be from the ATO a...nd other government agencies are trying to trick people into providing personal information. These scammers will tell you there’s a legal case against you, and if you don’t follow instructions and provide the information requested, you’ll be arrested. Don’t follow the prompts, and don’t provide the information requested. We will never send unsolicited pre-recorded messages to your phone, or threaten you with immediate arrest. 08.01.2022 The Tax Commissioner has confirmed that the registration deadline for the April and May JobKeeper payments has been extended to 31 May 2020. While the extra time is very welcome, it will not remove the urgency to determine eligibility for April 2020 JobKeeper payments.
