25.01.2022 Surf Life Saving Australia is a fantastic and invaluable beach safety program that runs across Australia. How good would it be to see our beaches become more inclusive so children (& adults) with disabilities can participate?!

18.01.2022 While Amanda from InTeach is on extended maternity leave, and under stage 4 Covid restrictions, she’s teaching her daughter that being in a wheelchair doesn’t stop you from being a normal mum #inclusion #diversity #paraplegic #wheelchair #parentswithdisabilities #futureschoolmum #unicornmum

15.01.2022 Your students are watching how you react to, or interact with, people (and perhaps uncomfortable situations) ... learning how to navigate life in a diverse and ever-changing world. What does your face show them? What are you teaching them unconsciously?

10.01.2022 And this is the problem with the lack of understanding of inclusion. People often make decisions about disability/inclusion without consulting the people who exclusion/discrimination effects.
09.01.2022 Accessing schools as a disabled parent is also difficult and teachers need to be able to include diverse parents. Communicating with teachers and administrators about my children is frustrating, Bonner said. She relies on her computer and other technology to read documents. As such, she needs everything available digitally. Large class sizes make scanning or emailing parents individually less than desirable for educators, but without it, I do not know what is going on i...nside the classroom, Bonner continued. To ensure that she can fully participate in her children’s educational experiences, Bonner has had to advocate for herself and her children. I lay everything out in black and white for the schools, but I make it absolutely clear if I don’t get what I need under the [ADA], I will absolutely take it to a higher authority. That has given me the label of a ‘problem’ parent. I am not looking to be a ‘problem,’ but I am looking to be included in my children’s school experience.

07.01.2022 Maybe in order to create inclusion and true equality, students and teachers need to complete some community service for people like Ann Marie. Schools should have more people with disabilities speak to students, pay them for their time - value their lives. #equality #inclusion... #RIPAnnMarie See more
07.01.2022 This is an exciting conversation that needs to start happening in educational, political & entrepreneurial circles.
03.01.2022 It’s important to talk to children about disability. Children are much more open to people who are different than adults are, so don’t shy away from discussing disability with them. All people are the same on the inside and what matters is what’s in a persons heart, not what they look like on the outside

01.01.2022 Great article about the lack of diversity in children’s books. Perhaps publishers and literary agents should be accepting manuscripts from diverse authors and manuscripts with diverse characters (for adults readers as well as children). https://www.theage.com.au//beyond-the-pale-children-s-book
