25.01.2022 In accordance with the latest situation in Victoria, NSW health recommendations, as well as our own association recommendations our Chiropractors will now be wearing masks during all consultations! We are still very much open and, as we have been this entire time, are still advising all patients to stay home if they or anyone in their family is unwell in accordance with all NSW health recommendations. Be smart, be kind and be safe everyone ... https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//P/isolation-guidelines.aspx
25.01.2022 This is an absolutely ground breaking finding in the field of premature birth! Its unfortunate that it took a pandemic for the world to finally correlate a link between a mothers health, wellbeing and ability to rest with the likelihood of pre term birth but now that the initial findings are there hopefully this can bring about some huge changes in the treatment of expectant mothers

23.01.2022 REAL TALK Returning to the gym is a big change for your body, and you will definitely feel it!! Heres some tips for easing yourself back into training, to g...et the best results and avoid injury Reduce your TRAINING VOLUME for the first couple of weeks! (if you usually train 6 days a week, try starting with 3-4 days with a break in between) Focus on RECOVERY! start every session with a gradual warm up, and finish every session with a cool down and stretch. Prioritise good FOOD and SLEEP! Try to get at least 6-8 hours of QUALITY sleep each night, and eat foods that will nourish and fuel your body. TAKE IT EASY. My advice is to always leave the gym with a little bit left in the tank, this way youre not exhausting yourself and youll reduce your chances of getting injured. IF YOU NEED HELP, ASK! See more

18.01.2022 Can you relate? Lately, I've been struggling with 5 of those 6 so one thing that's been helping me is to take 30 minutes a day to do something JUST for me.... I lock the kids out of my bedroom with strict instructions to knock only if someone needs to go to the hospital -- and then I read a book, write in my journal, or just go hog-wild on my secret chocolate stash and watch stupid animal videos. Even if all you can manage is 5 minutes, a break to recharge can make a world of difference! (via maisiesghost on IG)

17.01.2022 You know whats better than saying "this food is good for you"? Tell them what foods do in their body! Why do I keep sharing this message? Because we keep selli...ng our kids short labeling foods and good/bad, healthy/unhealthy. Here are some examples of messages I like for different ages: For 2-3yo kids I usually break it down by color. Although its not 100% accurate, its a good framework to get started. Red: gives you a strong heart Orange: helps you see in the dark Yellow: helps your body heal cuts Green: gives you super powers to fight off sickness Blue and Purple: Give you a strong brain White: gives you energy For 4s and 5s you can start being more specific - like carrots and sweet potatoes help you be able to see in the dark. Clementines help your skin heal cuts. Broccoli helps your night vision, your skin heal, AND your bones be strong. For 4s/5s and 6s you can introduce the idea that some foods do a lot of things in their bodies and some foods do a few things. For 6s and 7s you can introduce the concept of vitamins and minerals - tell them HOW carrots protect their night vision (via vitamin A). Learn about the body. For 8s and 9s - learn even more about different things in foods. And so on. All the while, model the way you want your kids to eat in your home and serve them the balanced diet you want them to eat. Thats more powerful than anything you could ever tell them. If you need help getting your child to try new foods, my free child eating guide From Stress to Success - 4 Ways to Help Your Child Eat Better without Losing Your Mind is in my bio @kids.eat.in.color #kidseatincolor See more

14.01.2022 Have you seen the newest research on pelvic floor exercises? We are normally told to do pelvic exercises in the postnatal period as carrying and birthing a ...baby puts a lot of pressure on our pelvic floor. The study The effect of antenatal pelvic floor muscle exercises on labour and birth outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis was released just last week shows that antenatal pelvic floor exercises may shorten the second stage of labour (the pushing or birth stage) and may help reduce perineal trauma. Find the overview here: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00192-020-04298-1 : unknown - please let me know if you know who to credit

07.01.2022 With masks making an appearance in NSW shops, cafes and supermarkets from tomorrow ... I figured its probably a good time to let you all in on a fe...w key tips, from a nurse... to keep you safe in a mask FIRSTLY: Your homemade fabric masks are only good to wear for a maximum of one hour .. once soaked with moisture from your breath they no longer provide you any protection .. the droplet particles from a virus can easily pass through your mask once it becomes damp. Once you take it off DO NOT toss it on the front seat of your car or hang it from your rear vision mirror... everything your mask touches is contaminated... dont hang it in front of your car air vent to dry!!... youll just spread the germs everywhere!!... Got It Remove by pinching the elastic sides, never grab the front of your mask and carefully place it into a zip lock bag or washable laundry bag, so you can toss it straight in the wash when you get home. Hang out in direct sunlight until completely dry before wearing again... SECONDLY: The Blue surgical masks you see nurses wear ... They are good for 4 hours continuous use, as they have an impermeable membrane that takes longer to become soaked in moisture but must be disposed of directly after use ... this does not mean throwing them in your handbag for later on... youve just spread the germs to your bag and all of its contents.... get it THROW THEM IN THE BIN!!! LASTLY: N95 respirator masks ... these are in extremely short supply... every hospital in Australia is hiding these under lock and key!!! ... they are our Just try me masks... they will provide 8 hours of protection from airborne droplets they need to be check fitted and are tight and uncomfortable to wear .... but if you are diagnosed with COVID-19 Or caring for someone with COVID these are the masks you should be wearing to protect yourself... Again they are disposable... THROW THEM OUT!!!.... And Dont forget.... Use hand sanitiser before and after removing your mask .....Before touching anything else!!!

06.01.2022 Are you newly pregnant? Do you know someone newly pregnant? We've put together this quick list of habits that we think every expectant mother should know right ...from the start: 1. Start settling to sleep on your side from early on. Side sleeping is proven to reduce the risk of stillbirth, and the earlier you start the habit, the better. 2. Don't compare your baby to others. Every pregnancy is unique - just worry about your bub and no-one else. 3. Diet is important. Don't smoke or drink alcohol in your pregnancy, and work on healthy eating choices (fun fact: what you eat in pregnancy can form your bub's taste preferences). 4. You may not be able to feel them yet, but your baby's movements are extremely important. Monitor your baby's STRENGTH of movements, your baby's PATTERN of movements, and your baby's FREQUENCY of movements. Your baby's movements will get steadily stronger and stronger up until your due date. If at any point your baby's movements change out of the regular pattern, get checked out immediately by your care provider. For more information, you can track your entire pregnancy over at stillaware.org. . . Tag your pregnant friends to let them know!

04.01.2022 So excited to finally launch our Birth in the Time of COVID-19 survey. Please share widely. We have a QR code that will take you straight into the survey or use... the link below. I am working with an amazing national and international team on this including the amazing Professors Sue Kildea and Suzanne King who led the Queensland Flood study. This survey is in a league of its own and we hope many women answer it across Australia and will do the follow on surveys too. Are you pregnant OR have given birth since March 2020 (during the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia) AND are you willing to share your experience by completing this survey: https://surveyswesternsydney.au1.qualtrics.com//SV_8A1eQ6p Hannah Dahlen and her research team are conducting a research project (through Western Sydney University) into womens experiences of being pregnant, giving birth and parenting during the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia. We have already conducted in-depth interviews and we are keen to learn more by releasing this survey. It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Follow the link and add your voice to this study OR pass this on through your Facebook networks. All completed surveys where an email address has been provided will be entered into a raffle where 100 women will receive a $30 voucher
04.01.2022 URGENT RECALL OF COLIC MEDICINE The Therapeutic Goods Administration has issued an urgent medicine recall of Infants' Friend Oral liquid in the 100ml bottle. Th...e medicine is designed to assist babies suffering from colic but the TGA says it contains levels of chloroform that exceed the tolerable daily intake at the recommended dose. 01.01.2022 YOUR POSITIVE BIRTH Preparing for a positive birth requires a willingness to look within, to look beyond the fear and open the mind to new possibilities. In the... Calmbirth course couples are guided from this place of uncertainty to discover new understandings about birth based on the latest evidence. They are assisted to realise and then develop their own inner abilities such as relaxation, breathing and visualisation to support the birth process. Partners are supported in developing a toolkit of skills to support their birthing partner. And through this process it is amazing to see how fear can be replaced with confidence and that birth can be experienced as a calm, joyful and empowering experience.
