24.01.2022 On my memory feed today and so I watched this interview again, even more relevant at this time - there is a sense of hope and allowing, addressing the underlying shame that goes with anxiety and depression. We can all influence the way we are in our world, simple living, being strongly and deeply connected with a few, slowing down, practicing an attitude of gratitude rather than wanting more. If you can get hold of a copy have a read

24.01.2022 Practicing what I suggest to clients and taking time to create some calm in my current workspace - playing "Atmospheres" by Deuter, drinking jasmine tea from a china cup and saucer, orientating my home office to see the trees from the window and wearing some Meditation Oil. How are you practicing self care?

11.01.2022 Traditionally people have thought of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as being something that only those in the military or emergency services suffered wit...h. The reality is that up to 70% of adults will experience a serious traumatic event in their lifetime and 20% of those will go on to develop PTSD. At any one time, up to 8% of the population is suffering with symptoms of PTSD. PTSD is an anxiety disorder and can occur as a result of exposure to death, injury, violence or serious threat to either yourself or a loved one or someone significant to you. It can develop after even one event such as an armed robbery, assault, bush fires or a car crash. It can also occur even from repeatedly hearing about these things or watching vivid traumatic scenes. Complex PTSD (cPTSD) is the term given to a series of events or a prolonged or repeated event, such as bullying or sexual abuse, usually in childhood or early adulthood and the symptoms can be even more extreme and enduring. Symptoms of PTSD develop as a result of biological changes to the brain, which the person has no control over, such as poor memory or extreme emotional reactions. There are therapies available that help with PTSD such as NLP, EMDR and DBT and even simple things like exercise and meditation are hugely beneficial in helping to settle the nervous system. This is one of the areas currently where there is a lot of research and medical trials, particularly in regards to neuroplasticity and "rewiring" of the brain. If anyone you know has experienced any kind of significant trauma, please understand even if they are withdrawn or avoidant or always cranky, they are doing the best they can and encourage them to seek some professional support with a therapist or group program.
