14.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW a woman has three types of oestrogens - oestrone (E1), oestradiol (E2) and oestriol (E3)? Oestrogen is not only a vital part of a womans reproductive health but it also supports our cardiovascular health, new bone growth and communication with body fat. These oestrogen hormones have influential control on a womans fertility and her ovulation. Oestrogen lays the lining of the uterus ready for contraception on ovulation days, and is also responsible for b...roadening a womans hips and increasing fat storage on her thighs and buttocks. Excessive oestrogen levels (in relation to progesterone) can cause fluid retention, and sometimes make a woman feel uncomfortable with the way she looks. One tip for healthy OESTROGEN balance is to eat a healthy serving of Brassica Veggies daily. These include broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and brussel sprouts for example! #immunehealth #immunesupport #naturalmedicine #nutritionist #dietician #naturalliving #mindfulNess #breathe #mentalhealth #psychologist #pschychologistofinstagram #healing #naturalfertility #mindfulliving #happyhealthylife #chemicalfree #foodmatters #familylife #healthylifestyle #healthandsafety #community #mooloolaba #wellness #organic #lovelife

14.01.2022 Before the pandemic, one in five Aussies experienced mental ill-health every year. But with the coronavirus pandemic and unfolding uncertainty many of us ...now experience, may exacerbate anxiety and depression in some people, and contribute to the onset of new mental health concerns. So what should you watch out for in yourself or loved ones? Mental illness results in physical changes in your body, as well how you think, feel and behave... ANXIETY Will increase your heartbeat and/or butterflies in the stomach People might think theyre unable to cope, and can often feel scared, restless, or stressed out You may avoid people or withdraw, or find yourself being easily agitated, aggressive or resorting to substances DEPRESSION Common physical changes include changes in sleep, appetite or energy Therell also be changes in mood, motivation or enjoyment. Some people might have difficulty concentrating or experience hopeless thoughts You may find yourself withdrawing from people or activities, taking to substance use and having a poorer performance at work Its important to note, that many people (without mental illness) will experience some of these feelings and behaviours during the pandemic - and that is normal, in the short term. However if you find that the symptoms continue to persist longer than a couple of weeks, its important to seek help. Our team of experienced and dedicated psychologists are here to help you. 13.01.2022 All of us at @integrated_wellness are deeply concerned about the welfare of our families, individuals and teens in the wake of the #COVID19 pandemic. Unfortunately we are not alone in being witness to a rise in anxiety, depression and the effects of isolation and loneliness Just last week the Brain and Mind Centre at the University of Sydney said the consequences of skyrocketing anxiety and depression, coupled with the long-term psychological distress caused by unemployment ...and its myriad side-effects, will see suicide rates jump sharply. The predicted increase of suicides is 25 per cent each year for the next five years, Professor Ian Hickie, co-director of the Brain and Mind Centre at The University of Sydney, said. Thats 750 extra deaths by suicide a year. Its an enormous number. It will be a massively bigger death toll than COVID. National surveys of anxiety and depression both via the Australian Bureau of Statistics and (academic) studies show increasing rates of psychological distress since the pandemic began, Professor Hickie said. Initially, I think there was a high degree of anxiety about health but I think the deep and ongoing anxiety is about peoples economic future. If your mental health or that of someone you love is being impacted by uncertainty, disruption and disappearing optimism our team @integrated_minds is here to help you. Our psychologists are passionate about helping people live a happy and more meaningful life, and are equipped with the professional therapies and non-judgmental ear to support your wellbeing. 13.01.2022 Do you suffer from the symptoms of IBS or experience bad bloating? If yes, FODMAPS is something to consider. So what exactly are they?... FODMAPS is an acronym for Fermentable Oligosaccharides Disaccharides Monosaccharides Polyols Sorbitols or small carbohydrates, which are poorly absorbed by the small intestine. FODMAPS are found in foods such as wheat, barley and beans among others and are generally osmotic, meaning they draw water into the bowel causing gas, bloating and diarrhoea. For this reason, people with IBS often improve on a diet low in FODMAPS. Gluten and other grains can also be a problem, so it's best to chat with an experienced naturopath or dietitian who can help to distinguish between different foods and reactions. They will also help you heal your gut, dial down inflammation and improve your nutrient absorption so you feel your healthy best. See more

11.01.2022 For many people, the concept of self-love might bring up images of tree-hugging hippies or cheesy self-help books. But many psychology studies attest that self-love and compassion are key for mental health and wellbeing, keeping depression and anxiety at bay. Most of the time, when were being too hard on ourselves. We do it because were driven by a desire to excel and do everything right, all the time. This entails a lot of self-criticism, and that annoying inner voice ...that constantly tells us how we couldve done things better. Studies have shown that perfectionists are at a higher risk of several illnesses, both physical and mental, and that self-compassion and being kind to yourself might free us from its grip. A favourite tool among our team to help keep these thoughts at bay is mindfulness. Our team of psychologists also use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to help reframe those persistent and unhelpful thoughts or behaviours. What are your favourite ways to nurture #selflove and #compassion? See more

Something that were often asked about is accessing Mental Health support and working with our clinic partner, @Integrated_minds and team of dedicated psychologists. So today we thought wed shine a light on MENTAL HEALTH CARE PLANS... A Mental Health Care (MHC) Plan is a plan that your GP writes about treating and managing a mental health condition. It connects you with psychologists like us and enables you to receive rebated sessions through Medicare, with the vision to make professional help more accessible to everyone A MHC Plan requires a doctors diagnosis of mental illness or a mental disorder, including anxiety and depression for example. If your mental wellbeing has been suffering, but you have not been diagnosed, you will need to see a GP for eligibility. A MHC Plan referral from your GP enables you to claim a Medicare rebate of $84.80 for a general psychologist or $124.50 for a clinical psychologist per session. If you are not eligible for a mental health care plan, you may be eligible for a Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan. With an EPC plan, you will receive a rebate of $52.95. These amounts are set by Medicare and please note that there may be a gap to pay, dependent on the psychologists fee. Does that help answer your questions around Mental Health Care Plans?

05.01.2022 Christmas is the most wonderful time of year! Isn't it? For many, it can actually be incredibly stressful and difficult, and perhaps more so for those who suffer from mental health issues. Depending on your family circumstances, loneliness, isolation and money concerns can all come into play, compounded by poorer nutrition choices and indulging in excessive alcohol. ... To stay more sane and mentally healthy this Christmas, try these: Stick to your budget. Plan ahead and stick to your set amount. Say NO where you need to. Whether it's attending another function, being around people that trigger you or preparing food for others, know your boundaries. Avoid crowds and the stress of finding parking. Shop early, over your lunch break, order over the phone and collect or buy online. Share the load. Cooking and expectations can be stressful enough, let alone for large numbers of family. Delegate dishes and share the responsibility. Positive expectations. Christmas can amplify the stresses and cracks that already exist in relationships. Avoid talking about subjects that cause you tension. Everything in moderation right. Yep - food, alcohol and Christmas parties. Try to opt for fresh fruit and vegetables where possible and maintain regular exercise. Remember everything you have to be thankful for and be kind to yourself during this time. Give. Even better if you volunteer for an hour at a soup kitchen or give to someone less fortunate. After all, what is the true meaning of Christmas? Tag three friends that could benefit from these ideas!
