20.01.2022 The Community Connections Preventing Isolation in Seniors project, is a wonderful initiative funded by the NSW government that recently came to fruition in Port Stephens! This saw students from three local primary schools creating cards and artworks to give to seniors in the community illustrating what they are grateful for and why they love their community. These designs were transferred onto calico bags which were filled with items donated by local businesses. Around 125 bags were recently presented to our Activity Centre team in Raymond Terrace so they could be distributed to our clients and other seniors within the local community.

14.01.2022 Despite being 88 years young, John is still a joyful participant at the Muswellbrook Wellness Centre. The team at the centre discovered his love of music when one day they found him tightening and restringing the many drums at the centre. He then began playing for staff and clients showcasing his many talents! Growing up in Holland, music was a huge part of John’s family’s life - all the children began to learn instruments from a young age. He began playing the drums at 18 years old and before long even joined a 20-strong band! He emigrated to Australia with his wife and daughter in 1962. Music remains a huge part of John’s life. The music at our Activity Centre creates a sense of fun in a social setting.

11.01.2022 One of our clients Henry, recently visited the Raymond Terrace Activity Centre and was surprised at how much he could be involved! Activity Officer GG explains, he was happy to be out and about but didn’t think he’d be able to participate much now he only has eyesight in one eye. I reminded him how amazing our Paralympians are and how nothing stops them, so he had a go at the diagram activity we were doing with matchsticks and he was happy to complete it. Well done Henry!

07.01.2022 Our client Carmel, loves to keep herself busy and celebrated her 90th birthday with our Support Workers throwing her an afternoon tea to honour her special day. Every morning when her care team visits, she tells them she’s very grateful that integratedliving come and help her otherwise she says she would stay in her PJ’s all day, every day. She loves to do puzzles, colouring-in, and cognitive therapy exercises with her carers. She also loves to listen to music in one of our cars Glen Miller Orchestra is her favourite.

05.01.2022 One of our clients, Danka, loves to bake and in large quantities at that! integratedliving even assisted with buying her a new mixer to alleviate some of the shoulder pain she experienced when cooking. It takes the hard work out of doing what she loves! The mixer has allowed her to continue to keep in touch with her culture. Danka is pictured here cooking Macedonian Maznick.
