19.01.2022 Piriformis syndrome (PS) is described as a number of signs and symptoms of pain associated with the piriformis muscle (PM). Pain, numbness and tingling in the buttock are indicated with variable involvement with the sciatic nerve. PS can cause severe lower back pain due to the entrapment of the sciatic nerve, which can be caused by either the anatomical variation and contact of the sciatic nerve to the PM fibres or commonly the hypertrophy or inflammation of the muscle itself.... The outlook for PS sufferers is generally positive. Once the symptoms have been addressed, most individuals may and can resume back to their daily activities.
