24.01.2022 At IPC, we practice optimal hygiene and cleanliness at the best of times and adhere to the infection control guidelines set by our registration board. This protocol is something we take seriously and in the current state of affairs, will be amping up our efforts even more. If you are attending the clinic for an appointment in the coming weeks, we encourage you to follow the national guidelines concerning Coronavirus. If you are unwell, display flu like symptoms or have come into contact with someone who is suspected to have the virus please let us know. We will cancel or reschedule your appointment. Stay safe and look after each other!
24.01.2022 It’s exactly 4 weeks til Christmas...but who’s counting! If you love spoiling your loved ones (as we do) a gift voucher to IPC is the perfect present. Cross a few things off your Christmas to-do list and get in touch to organise one
23.01.2022 Today we re-open to start off our new year. We realise the privilege we have being able to come to work without the immediate threat of danger and continue to pray for rain in the areas of Australia that desperately need it
23.01.2022 If you’re someone who checks in with your feet regularly, you’ll be no stranger to the many trigger points on the sole of the foot. If you’re new to this, we encourage you to get comfortable with the uncomfortable that is a trigger point (tight spot). There will be some discomfort when working through each trigger point so remember to breathe. Deep diaphragmatic breathing will help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing you to further benefit from this exercise. What are you waiting for...get your ball and start rolling!
22.01.2022 The humble tuning fork is one of our essential instruments. Podiatrists use vibration to measure proprioceptive function...ie. how well your nerves are working, in particular those responsible for spacial awareness and balance. This is particularly important for anyone with a neurological condition or anyone at risk of nerve damage (eg. people with Diabetes)
22.01.2022 Christmas is just around the corner! Don't forget to give your feet a little TLC this silly season
22.01.2022 Feet are a part of the body we often feel embarrassed about. It is common for us to apologise for their shape, size, appearance, the state of the skin, the nails...basically anything we can find fault with. It’s our goal to help you embrace every ‘fault’, every bead of sweat, irregular nail, or bony bump on your feet. If you ask us, perfection is boring!
21.01.2022 After much deliberation, I have decided to make the conscious decision to temporarily close IPC. Whilst podiatry is still considered an 'essential' service by the government at this stage, I feel we have a social responsibility to look after everyone, slow the spread of COVID-19 and lead by example. I feel this is 100% the right decision as we are only at the beginning of what is to come and what we do now will impact us all further down the track. I am particularly concerned... for the many at-risk individuals in our community, not to mention the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers who are working tirelessly to help us stay alive and well! For those of you who have appointments booked for the coming weeks, I have put you on a priority list and you will be contacted to rebook your appointments first when we re-open. We look forward to seeing you back in the clinic when it is safe and appropriate to return. In the meantime, please look after yourselves and your loved ones, and please stay home! Michelle See more
21.01.2022 Have you ever experienced a sharp shooting pain in the front of your foot? This may be what’s known as a neuroma and commonly occurs from irritation or compression of a nerve. There are many causes and treatment options. If you’re experiencing similar symptoms it’s worth having them assessed by a podiatrist!
19.01.2022 The simple act of walking has more benefits than we acknowledge. Getting into nature and away from our screen is just one of the many. It’s also important to give our minds time to wander...who knows what wonderful ideas may pop up or what wisdom we may download!
18.01.2022 Water is essential for life! The quality of the water we drink is something worth considering too. That aside, our skin needs water for hydration, as do our joints and fascia. If we are dehydrated, problems can arise in these areas (ie. cracked heels, aches and pains) so don’t forget to sip water frequency throughout each day.
16.01.2022 After a short break, we are back in business. We look forward to helping you (and your feet!) get through the journey of 2021
16.01.2022 As the world around us transitions and transforms, taking care of one’s self has never been more important. By showing ourselves love through gestures of care and nurturing we then emanate this to the people around us. Our feet are often forgotten about, so these masterpieces need a little more TLC from time to time so we can keep moving forward. Self massage, warm baths, time spent barefoot and stretching are some simple at home methods. And obviously we are here to assist with more thorough treatments.
15.01.2022 When it comes to maintaining your body, your feet are no exception! They, like any other body part, are susceptible to stress (both emotional and physical) and need regular TLC. So here’s a little encouragement to include your feet in your self care routine!
15.01.2022 At IPC, our goal has always been to change the way you think about your feet. We want you to love your feet as much as we do! And, we want to help you avoid problems not just now, but in the future, which is why we believe prevention is the best cure. We’re here to help you put your best foot forward, not just for today but for the rest of your life!
15.01.2022 We’re big fans of the warm weather but with it brings an array of foot related issues. Dry skin from barefoot walking, athlete’s foot from increased sweating, warts from increased use of public pools. Let us help you prevent (and treat) these problems so you can enjoy what’s left of summer!
15.01.2022 People often present to us seeking treatment for symptoms that are related to a weak immune system. Warts, infections, pain/inflammation and skin conditions to name a few. If no effort is placed on supporting the immune system, improvement may be limited. We work alongside and refer to many other practitioners who can help address underlying immunity issues. It’s part of the holistic and integrated approach we take!
13.01.2022 Despite Melbourne’s temperamental weather, the change in season can have an impact on the feet. As the weather (slowly) warms up, we transition from boots and trainers to sandals and bare feet. Some of us also fall victim to our guilty conscience and feel the need to make up for increased winter couch time by suddenly pounding the pavement. These rapid changes may increase the chance of foot and leg pain. If you need a little assistance, we’re here to help! @lndr
13.01.2022 One of our favourites
12.01.2022 For those who have not yet met our senior podiatrist Loretta, let us introduce her. An integral part of the IPC team, Loretta is passionate about all aspects of podiatry. She has over 13 years podiatry experience and has worked with the very young to the very old. Outside of her podiatry career you can find Loretta participating in fun runs, chasing after her 1 year old daughter and listening to her fave Ed Sheeran. We couldn’t be more happy to have Loretta on our team. Find her in both our Camberwell and South Yarra clinics!
11.01.2022 Shout out to the top of the foot and the front of the leg! The calf and sole of the foot seem to get all the attention but these aforementioned areas are so often neglected. Both play a vital role in our everyday movements so remember to show them a little love, whether that be with via massage or gentle stretching!
11.01.2022 As many of you are aware, this past week has seen the easing of restrictions for allied health providers and we are no longer limited to seeing ‘urgent’ cases only! If you live outside the 5km radius, you are still able to attend health and medical appointments. Look forward to seeing you soon
11.01.2022 Tomorrow IPC reopens with reduced hours! We hope everyone has been coping and keeping well in isolation. We have taken this time to embrace a slower, quieter pace of life and are adjusting to the new ‘normal’ as best we can. We have extra hygiene measures in place for everyone’s safety. We look forward to seeing you (and your feet) at your next appointment!
10.01.2022 And just like that we’re finished for another year! We’re grateful to everyone who’s been part of our year and wish you a safe and happy holiday season. We’ll see you on 6th January to kick off the new decade!
08.01.2022 They told us so
08.01.2022 In honour of International Women’s Day, I thought I’d reflect on Elizabeth Gilbert’s address at the Business Chicks breakfast last week. To quote her, the most relaxed person in the room is the most powerful. So, this IWD let’s acknowledge those that are going 100 miles an hour but also those who have made a conscious decision to take the power back and operate from a place of relaxation! Thank you to the amazing women I aspire to be like and those I’m lucky enough to call friends, colleagues and clients. Michelle x
08.01.2022 Times are tough at the moment, there’s no denying it! I’m the first to admit that it’s hard to keep my chin up with everything that’s going on around. I’m grateful I can continue to practice and really feel for the small businesses who have been forced shut or severely impacted. One thing that brightens my day is being able to see my patients and help them. I love the stories we share and the chats that come along with each appointment. Your smiling faces make a difference to each day and I want to truly thank you for all your support this year! Michelle x
06.01.2022 A good reminder heading into the last week of work before Christmas and a new decade!
05.01.2022 We are excited to introduce the newest member of the IPC team, Vish Rajkumar! With nearly 6 years experience, Vish enjoys all aspects of podiatry. She is friendly, welcoming and takes a thorough, patient-centred approach. Vish is aligned with the IPC ethos and excited to be part of the team. Having recently moved to Melbourne from Perth, Vish is enjoying exploring Melbourne's cafes and welcomes all recommendations for great coffee! Vish will be working across both IPC clinics so book your appointment now.
05.01.2022 The IPC team is a special group of podiatrists who are committed to helping you and your feet! We pride ourselves on going the extra mile and take a 360 degree approach to your foot health
05.01.2022 We are commonly asked if we treat other parts of the lower limb in addition to feet and the answer is yes! The joints above the feet are just as important and do not work in isolation. The foot, ankle, knee and hip work very closely with each other. Whilst our scope of practice only allows us hands on treatment from the knee down, we have many great practitioners we refer to for above knee assessment and treatment
04.01.2022 When did you last replace your runners? If you use your shoes for the gym, walking, brunch dates...pretty much everything, you will have probably clocked up a few kilometers without even knowing. We recommend changing your runners roughly every 6-12 months. When it comes to finding the right shoe for you, comfort is everything. If you’d like more advice, get in touch. We're here to help you get the best out of your feet
03.01.2022 This week all restrictions have been lifted for allied health practitioners which means we are back practicing as usual Due to delaying and rescheduling many appointments over the last few months we are rather busy (as you can imagine). We apologise for the wait and are doing everything we can to see you as soon as possible!
03.01.2022 Let’s talk about corns and callus...the hard skin that builds up on feet. It’s a very common complaint and can be quite painful for some people! Skin will often thicken in areas exposed to more pressure. This pressure can be the result of a pair of shoes, a person’s foot type, activity or occupation. Podiatrists are one of the very few professionals who can use scalpel blades to remove corns and callus...it’s actually illegal for nail salons to do this!! If you’re wanting to give your feet a little TLC (and also want it done safely) we’re here for you!
02.01.2022 Due to the back log following lockdown and now the usual Christmas rush, we are fully booked til the end of 2020. We have a waitlist, which as you can imagine is very long, so if you are after an appointment it is best to book a time in the new year as that way your appointment will be guaranteed. You can leave a note if you book online to be added to the waitlist and we will do our best to fit you in! Thank you for your patience x
02.01.2022 This week we celebrate 5 years in business! What a journey to date...setting up one location in Camberwell, expanding to a second location in South Yarra, taking IPC to Byron Bay for the Studio PP retreat, co-hosting workshops, forming long standing relationships with likeminded individuals and businesses, closing our South Yarra space and now a pandemic! I’m so grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey and look forward to what the future holds! Michelle x
02.01.2022 This quote was gifted to me when I first launched IPC and I have come back to it multiple times over the last 4.5 years! Michelle x
01.01.2022 How often do your feet come to mind? Do you think about them when you’re not seeing them? A little tip from us - include a foot check in your morning and evening ritual. It’s always good to know what state your feet are in!
01.01.2022 At this time of year, you’ll see us hanging out in viparita karani. This yoga pose is extremely beneficial in activating the parasympathetic nervous system (cue rest and digest). It also supports the lymphatic system, helping to reduce swelling and puffiness in the feet legs. Why not try adding it to your end of day routine!
01.01.2022 Did you know a quarter of the body’s bones are in your feet? Don’t you think they deserve a little love? As Foot Health Week is now in full swing, there’s never been a better time to appreciate just how important our feet are
01.01.2022 This week we sadly say farewell to our South Yarra space. Due to road closures and overwhelming construction, our lease at Studio PP - Health & Wellness Center has not been renewed. We are in the process of looking for alternative options around the area and hope to find something soon So as of 17th February we will be practicing from our Camberwell clinic only. This space is located at 1160 Toorak Road within The Health & Wellbeing Studio We thank you for you understanding and patience during this time!
01.01.2022 Today was our last day for 2020! What a year! We’re grateful to everyone who’s been part of the journey and look forward to seeing you all again on 5th January. Wishing you a safe, happy and healthy holiday season
