23.01.2022 "If it's painful, then stop doing it." Have you ever been told by physios to stop [choice of sport] for 4 weeks, 2 months, or even 6 months? At Integrated Sports Physiotherapy, we take your injuries seriously, but we also take your passion for sport seriously!... We assess the nature of your pain, evaluate where it is coming from and how we can allow you to continue playing sport in a safe manner. We strive to give you a recovery timeframe that allows inflammation to settle, then returning to gradual sport while doing rehabilitation. In a way, we advocate pushing your limits reasonably. 23.01.2022 Do you have neck pain, shoulder pain, or back pain? It could be coming from the lack of thoracic spine mobility! I.e stiffness in the upper-mid back. With increased screen time (computer, phones etc), we start to adopt a different posture- forward head position and rounded shoulders. This causes increased rounding of the upper back, I.e hunchback. Overtime, it leads to thoracic spine stiffness. ... When one part of the spine is stiff, other parts will have to compensate to create more movement or help to take the load E.g the shoulder (especially for racquet sport players), the neck, the lower back. The video shows thoracic rotation mobility, spinal wave mobility (cat-cow with an added child's pose) and lumbar rotation mobility with a chest stretch. P. S last part of the video sped up x2 . . #thoracicmobility #mobilityexercises #physioclinic #physiotherapy

11.01.2022 We could all do with more stretching Gluteal stretch with a twist (literally - thoracic spine rotation). Thoracic spine is often an overlooked area of stiffness because thoracic stiffness can accumulate for a very long period before someone might feel pain from the stiffness. And often the pain might present in the shoulder or ribcage rather than thoracic spine itself. . .... #thoracicmobility #spinalmobility #doyourstretches #physiotherapist #physioclinic See more

10.01.2022 Knee pain? If you experience pain in the front of the knee but have full bending, straightening and able to do a deep squat without knee pain, then most likely it's coming from muscular compression onto the patellofemoral joint. It happens when muscles are tight due to weakness, and/or being overused. An effective way to self release those muscle tightness is using a foam roller! Always roll the part just above the kneecap, that's where you'll find the quadriceps trigger poin...ts (i.e good pain) Note: foam rolling alone will not get rid of the pain completely, you need to treat the underlying reason for the muscle tightness. P. S Video sped up x2. . . #physiotherapist #physioclinic #foamroller #kneepainrelief #pfps

07.01.2022 Do you often feel stiff despite exercising and stretching? "Excercise" is a very broad and generic term for movement of the body, and often times it's general movement that does not involve specific segmental movement of the body. In other words, whatever is stiff will still be stiff, unless you intentionally move/stretch the specific area of stiffness to its end-range. Physiotherapy can help unstiffen your body through specific joint mobilisation and soft tissue release. We... then teach specific exercises you can do to help maintain the joint movement . . #physiotherapy #physioclinic #integratedsportsphysio See more

04.01.2022 Strength training for muscle and bone health! For those getting older (I.e everyone!), the rate of muscle mass loss after the age of 30 is about 3-5% per decade and this is similar with bone density loss. This means even if you're doing the same activities, without intentional strengthening, you're losing muscle mass that helps with supporting your joints. Our bones also need certain stimulus for growth- walking is not enough! Weight-lifting/strength training is not as intimi...dating as it seems. If you're unsure where to start, book a session with Jamie to build confidence and knowledge! http://integratedsportsphysio.com.au . . #physiotherapyclinic #squats #physiotherapist #preventativehealth #strengthtraining See more
