24.01.2022 I love coaching people online This is from one of my girls who has been smashing her workouts since covid shutdown. Online offers individualised sessions focusing on personal goals, and daily accountability to keep you on track. So grateful to have the opportunity to coach my clients in this way. #onlinecoaching #getresults #accountabilityforsuccess #personaltrainer #onlinecoach #fitness #intelligentlifestyle
23.01.2022 Starting is often the most daunting part of any process or goal. I always advocate constant progress not instant perfection! Just start. Do the things you know how to do safely. Then ask for help and refine the process, learn new skills, expand your knowledge and carry on! #fridayinspo #goals #starttheprocess #personaltrainer #ptlife #fitlife #intelligentlifestyle
22.01.2022 Beautiful morning to be out with my superstars doing some bridge to bridge laps! @l_oyston and I ran 10km and the other girls did the 5km lap. Congrats to my Melbourne girls Chrissie and Emma who smashed their goals in the 5km and 10km runs at the same time and Megan who did a walk. So proud of all my team. We enjoyed a coffee in the sun after and dialed in the Melb girls. #teambonding #community #personaltrainer #ptlife #fitlife #running #teamgettogether #smashinggoals
22.01.2022 Sometimes when you least feel like training the most amazing things happen! I’ve been crazy tired all week. It was a struggle to get to work this morning. So when I finished with my clients I sat on the bench for 10minutes contemplating if I was going to train or go home. I decided to do a short session so that at least I do something and then go home and crash. So I started. And then I was chatting to one of the guys training near me who was interested in how I was approac...hing my pullup trainingstrict pullups have been a goal of mine for a little while. He asked me where I get stuck. I told him that I was probably too fried to even get to that point but that I would try and show him. And just like that I pulled out a clean strict pullup! We laughed and I jumped around with excitement and then I tried again. And I pulled out my second strict pullup! I tried for a third later to get it on video but I was too greedy it appears! haha. Moral of the story, the best thing you can do when you don’t feel like training is just start. You never know, you may have the best session ever! #goals #achievinggoals #personaltrainer #ptlife #fitlife #gettingshitdone #intelligentlifestyle See more
19.01.2022 I remember the first time my old coach taught me how to do kettlebell swings. Oh the 8kg KB felt so heavy! Deadlifts were no different. First time on the 20kg bar and my back would hurt, slamming 6kg balls would make my heart race so fast I’d have to break for a minute to recover. I was relatively weak. Upper body especially. I could never help with anything that involved lifting anything. Moving house? Forget it, someone else had to come in and help, my clothes and shoes w...ere as much as I could do! I hadn’t trained properly other than running for about 5 years and it was showing! Fast forward to now and even though there’s been numerous interruptions to my training where I’ve had to back track a bit, I am now swinging 28kg KB’s like it’s nothing, deadlifting 70kg with double overhand grip (I used to have to switch to mixed grip at 50kg) and am quite useful when it comes to helping lift heavy things! I caught myself giggling today as I was swapping between 28kg swings and 15kg slams and not needing any rest in-between, remembering where I started and how far I’ve come. And smiling at my goals of where I want to go and knowing that I will achieve them. There’s no better feeling than feeling like you’ve accomplished something you couldn’t do before! #everydaystrong #fitandstrong #fitlife #ptlife #personaltrainer #notweakanymore #goals #kickinggoals #intelligentlifestyle See more
18.01.2022 Virtual MDC done. 10km, 2 laps bridge to bridge. Not quite the same without the crowd and atmosphere but I was channeling a virtual crowd and finish line! Was hard for me this year, having not run 10km since November, being injured and only getting back into running a couple of months or so ago with strict instructions from my Physio. Had to let go of my ‘I always do a PB when I do this event’ expectation and take it for what it is at this point in time. I was hoping to stay ...under 1.05 not even knowing whether that was possible. Got in at 1.05.15. A good 9 minutes slower than my best but all things considered, not too bad. The advantage of being a virtual event this year is that I got to pick when to do it and so I looked at the week forecast and picked the nicest looking day! If you would still like to contribute to the save the boobies fund, link is below. Thanks to everyone who has donated. I am always so appreciative of the support I get every year. This is my pet event and I can’t wait to do it again next year hopefully in its proper form. Much love. #mdc2020 #virtualmdc #savetheboobies #fuckoffcancer https://fundraise.mothersdayclassic.com.au//mothers-day-cl

17.01.2022 Anyone else suffering from post covid shutdown frustration? I trained fairly consistently through shutdown. I have plenty of gear at home. But the one thing I didn’t have access to was a bar to hang from and train pull ups. 3 months of no pullups and an extra couple of kilos and today’s session was frustrating to say the least. I’m completely fried. So I’m going to spend the next hour cursing the progress I’ve lost and then I’m going to get on with it. Work hard to get it bac...k. Get my nutrition back on point. Remind myself of what I tell my clients...progress is often not linear. We hit bumps along the way. As long as we don’t let the bumps become mountains then it’s ok. Life happens. Some things we can control and some we can’t. What we can do though is pick ourselves up and get back on track. If we spend too long looking back then we put up a barrier to move forward. #wednesdayinspo #ptlife #fitlife #personaltrainer #postshutdownfrustration #getonwithit #gymmypt #intelligentlifestyle See more
16.01.2022 Covid put a stop to traditional Floriade this year but the team put on a great alternative. I was privileged to be featured in this year’s Floriade Reimagined festival and was asked to provide a couple of simple at home workouts. I was full of hay fever grossness when I did them but they were fun and I hope to do more soon :-) Check them out here: https://floriadeaustralia.com/event/mobility/ https://floriadeaustralia.com/event/fitness-at-home/ #floriadereimagined #athomeworkouts #personaltrainer #fitnessathome #everydaystrong #springincanberra #whoelsegetshorridhayfever
16.01.2022 I don’t believe in changing my goals because of Covid, so whilst the Melbourne half marathon on October 4 is unlikely to happen, I am still training as though it is. And on the day I will take myself to LBG and do my own race. This means I have to show up and train regardless of whether I feel like it or not. Like today. The fog looked like it wasn’t going to lift so I rugged up (I did whinge about it!) and went out for my run. 3km in the sun started breaking through and it turned into a glorious hour of running. Goals keep me accountable and ensure I keep doing what I need to do. It’s how I get shit done. #goals #halfmarathontraining #ptlife #fitlife #runningtowardsmygoals #showuptogoup #intelligentligestyle
15.01.2022 I am nothing without my amazing clients! These two superstars have been with me for 3 years and have achieved some incredible results. I am so grateful for these two. They show up week after week and work hard, do the work in between sessions and are generally all round awesome girls I am privileged to train! Happy 3 year anniversary Rachael and Lisa! 07.01.2022 My favourite kind of session is one that challenges me and leaves me room to grow, that makes me work hard and sweat, and that celebrates my body and all it can do, all in one go! The perfect blend for progress and satisfaction. Even though I still have a way to go to my goals, I love to look back and remember where I started, and feel good about how far I’ve come. It’s a journey I’m proud of and one that is ever evolving. I am so much stronger physically and mentally than I have ever been. Discipline to train is more than just physical transformation. It’s personal growth at its very best. #personaltrainer #fitlife #ptlife #personalgrowth #challengeyourself #intelligentlifestyle

02.01.2022 No one likes to admit their weaknesses. It’s not cool...or something! But if you identify and face up to your weaknesses, you can train them, you can turn them into strengths, they will complete you and make you a more balanced individual. Whether you are training for a specific sport, or training to be a healthier you, training out your weaknesses will help your body function better and help you reach your true potential. #turnweaknessintostrength #reachyourpotential #healthyliving #personaltrainer #ptlife #fitlife #gymmypt #intelligentlifestyle

02.01.2022 One of the things I hear the most during sessions is oh but Nik it’s easier the other way! My response is always, ‘you don’t pay me for easy’! I’ve talked before about training out weaknesses. We have to take ourselves out of our comfort zone, to feel vulnerable, to open ourselves up to learning a new skill, and face the reality that we might suck at first. But when we succeed, the feeling is so much better than just doing something that we could already do over and over ...again! This pic is me in the middle of relentlessly practicing cartwheels this morning! I suck at them! Like I’m actually embarrassed to be doing these in public! But I put my headphones in, pretend no one else exists and drill! It’s the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been in the gym, but I want to be able to do these and handstands, so I need to practice what I can’t do. I can’t wait to be showing you the look-what-I-just-did-video! Comfort zone...get guidance out of it! And reap the rewards! #comfortzone #uncomfortableisgood #growthinlearningnewskills #isuckatcartwheels #ptlife #fitlife #goals #intelligentlifestyle See more
01.01.2022 As a PT, I’m not superhuman, I am not motivated 100% of the time. I struggle just like the next person. What I do have is the mental resilience and capacity to get shit done when I least feel like it. I make a habit of showing up every day and fulfilling the promises I have made to myself. Today I woke up tired. I had 3 morning sessions with clients and then went back to bed. Isolation is getting to me and I struggled with motivation for the rest of the day. It took me til...l 5pm to start my session. Wednesday is intervals day. 7 rounds on the rower would have done the time but once I got going magic happened :-) 10 rounds later I was glowing with sweat and feeling amazing. Total of 5k on the rower, 100 squats and 50 side plank rotations per side. Nice little workout for a day that I didn’t want to get out of bed! I always tell my clients to remember how good they feel after they do the workout. Make showing up the habit, the rest follows once you’re there! #wednesdayinspo #personaltrainer #ptlife #fitlife #isogym #getshitdone #showingupisthehabit #intelligentlifestyle See more
