25.01.2022 LEADERSHIP: Want to improve your leadership? Focus on these fundamentals. http://ow.ly/79Bo30fEtid
23.01.2022 Whether it's self-leadership or team leadership, set your best intentions this week to be a leader who makes a difference and take action. Have a great week.
23.01.2022 What's driving your leadership performance? As your week comes to a close, I encourage you to take 5 minutes to think about your performance as a leader or team member. I love using iceberg analogies because just as 90% of an iceberg lies beneath the water and therefore cannot be seen, our performance as individuals is driven by those things which cannot be seen by others - our thinking and emotions. Often we are not conscious of these ourselves.... So, take time today to reflect on your performance (maybe a specific situation that occured) and importantly what thoughts did you have which impacted your emotions, behaviour and results. Our thinking can consist of our beliefs, values and "rules" about how things are or should be. Did you think you weren't good enough? Did you think everyone must meet your standards? Perhaps you thought the changes you proposed are obvious and logical (maybe to you). If you want to change the results you're getting then it's your thinking that needs to change. What personal beliefs, values or rules are not working for you? What would be a more productive way to think about the situations you face? Let me know if you'd like support to work through your thinking and improve your effectiveness. #leadership #performance
22.01.2022 Want to increase your level of influence as a leader? Then challenge people. To be a leader people respect and feel they have grown from being around, you have to challenge how they think, behave, perform and the standards they hold. Challenge them to do better, to be better. Be encouraging in a respectful, supportive style and hold them accountable. Growth only comes from stepping outside our comfort zone, so challenging ourselves and others will be uncomfortable but nothin...g great was ever achieved by taking the easy way. Try these challenging questions and actions for yourself and others: - How could you do this or that more effectively? - Ask someone how you can support them better? - What could you do to build a better relationship with a problem person / customer - What is an area of your work you are not happy with and why? What will you do about it? - Give a team member responsibility for a project or initiative to stretch them and don’t micro-manage them - Encourage a team member to take on a secondment or temporary transfer The hard part is taking action of course. So be that leader whom people talk about with respect and appreciate how much they achieved because you challenged and believed in them. #leadership #teambuilding #challenge

20.01.2022 By definition, leadership is about influence. If you need to influence others, you may learn a lot from Aristotle. If you don't know who Aristotle is, then I suggest a little research would be very worth while. For a more contemporary read, I also like Robert Cialdini's work on influence. He has the ability to explain in simple terms why different forms of influencing work. This article captures both writers. Excellent 4 minute read.... #leadership #influence #success #performance #persuasion

17.01.2022 Building your network (I don't mean Facebook) is not about attending as many networking events as you can. Try this approach to conscious networking.
15.01.2022 8 Simple yet powerful questions you can use to help others (and yourself) succeed. This could actually change your life! I use many of these in my own coaching to generate motivation, commitment and action.
13.01.2022 EXPERTS BECOMING LEADERS: Remember Eddie from last week's post? For experts & specialists like Eddie to progress their career, a move into management and leadership is the next "logical" step. For some who have an interest in management and receive development and support, the move is successful and they forge a new career path. For others who are only really passionate about technical work, the move will be a disaster, with or without development and support. Some organisations provide an alternate career path for technical experts where they can be acknowledged and rewarded appropriately. What path will you take? Find out more: http://ow.ly/78gf30i82Oe
12.01.2022 LEADERSHIP: From HBR "research makes it clear that employees and job candidates alike value learning and career development above most other aspects of a job, many managers don’t see it as an important part of their role. Managers think they don’t have the time to have these conversations, and many lack the skill. Yet 70% of employee learning and development happens on the job, not through formal training programs. So if line managers aren’t supportive and actively involved, employee growth is stunted. So is engagement and retention." http://ow.ly/Kw6C30epulP
12.01.2022 BECOMING A LEADER: There is a saying that ignorance is bliss and whilst that may be true in some instances, it does not apply to someone wanting to make a good impact in a new role. Successful transition into a management and leadership role requires technical experts to raise their awareness when comes to areas for development. Putting ego aside, a thorough assessment of strengths and areas for development will provide solid useful input to development planning. This sho...uld also be coupled with feedback for other credible sources. What are your strengths and areas for development? How would others perceive you? Find out more: http://ow.ly/J9c330iwsm7

11.01.2022 Sometimes we can get discouraged when progress toward our goals and dreams gets hard. Just remember, you are right where are meant to be. Your journey will look different to that of others so don't compare yourself. Your path to success will not be straight and that's for good reason. Now, get up, shake yourself off, quit whining and take a step forward! #leadership #goals #success #highperformance #coach

03.01.2022 EXPERTS BECOMING LEADERS: Some of you know Eddie and some of you might be Eddie. I’ve met lots of Eddie’s in my time. Eddie’s an expert / specialist who has been promoted into a management role but is struggling. Specialists naturally have a preference for technical challenges and problems. After all, that’s what they’re good at and it made them successful. However when things get stressful in a management role they, like all of us, tend to do those things they feel com...fortable and confident doing (technical work) instead of managing and leading. Where do you spend your time? Find out more. http://ow.ly/uAOD30i4PXd http://ow.ly/d/7fI8
02.01.2022 The workplace needs YOUR drive, determination and leadership. Why waste years struggling to figure leadership out on your own. Get the training you need to make an impact, but this CLOSES MIDNIGHT 24 August. http://www.intelligentperformance.com.au/events
01.01.2022 Please watch, like & share if you are, know or work with leaders. For many this will change how you see your role as a leader. Simon Sinek Inc. talks about the importance of empathy & perspective for leaders. Look out for: - We all have the capacity to be a leader, not everyone should be a leader and not everyone wants to be a leader... - Love the story about Noah at the Four Seasons Hotel - What does empathy look like? - The "millennial problem" and the impact of Parenting, Technology, Impatience and Environment - It's not about winning or losing - Game theory - Playing the infinite game - Are you Apple or Microsoft? I'm interested in your thoughts and comments.
01.01.2022 HIGH PERFORMANCE FOR LEADERS: In a recent video from Denise and Brendon Burchard a key point came out for me about high performance: "Link being good at what you do to your identity". Meaning whatever you do, do it well even if you are not passionate about it. Expect more of yourself and set higher standards. If you don’t, then you will allow yourself to be average or less.... This is what high performers do. They obsess (in a healthy way) over doing things to the best of their ability and learning how to be even better. You have the choice to be average or extraordinary. Be excellence driven. But remember, things won’t be perfect the first time, so don’t beat yourself up. Focus on continually improving every day. It’s about your mindset and attitude. A powerful driver of our excellence can be other people. As a leader, often we will show up for others we serve, who need or depend on us. Who needs you to be on your A-game today? Why and what do you need to do for them? Try thinking about this each morning. If you connect with your need to serve others every day, you will get focused on action and excellence. #leadership #excellence #raiseyourstandards #supervision #performance #highperformanceteams #success #management
