23.01.2022 Globally, women last year would have earned $us10.9 trillion if they had been paid minimum wages for their unpaid work. In Australia men do on average 2.75 hours unpaid work a day and women do 5.25 hours unpaid work per day. ‘On Oct. 24, 1975, 90 percent of Icelandic women refused to cook, clean or look after children for a day. It brought the whole nation to a standstill. Men across the country scrambled to fill in, taking their children to work and overwhelming restaurants. A year after the women’s strike in Iceland, the government passed a bill guaranteeing equal pay for women. Today, women there have one of the highest rates of labor force participation in the world.’ https://www.nytimes.com//04/opinion/women-unpaid-labor.html

19.01.2022 ‘Judith Herman writes: The legal system is designed to protect men from the superior power of the state but not to protect women or children from the superior power of men. I’m sure any survivor reading this will know exactly what she’s talking about. Men don’t abuse women because society tells them it’s OK. Men abuse women because society tells them they are entitled to be in control. In fact, society says that if they are not in control, they won’t succeed they won’t get the girl, they won’t get the money, and they will be vulnerable to the violence and control of other men. It says that if they fail to assert themselves like real men, they will end up poor and alone.’ https://www.theguardian.com//patriarchy-and-power-how-gen/

13.01.2022 Manage your risks of viral dosage with these 4 Ds 4 Factors Driving Exposure Dose 1. Density: How many people are in one place, and how closely? What is the density of your city or of a chosen activity? Volume of airflow directly impacts infection risk and explains why a crowded bar/concert/movie theatre significantly raises risk. While being outdoors may mitigate risk, crowds themselves present an inherent risk, especially if densely packed.... 2. Degree of activity: Activities with loud speaking or intense physical activity all increase the risk of transmission, as seen in infections after choir practice in Washington State, or in group exercise classes in South Korea where a single instructor led to an outbreak of 112 individuals. Singing, shouting, exercising each of these carry additional risk. 3. Duration: Probability of infection is directly linked to duration of exposure. Living in the same house with someone who is acutely ill is high risk, while just a quick pass-by on a street is much less so. 4. Distance: We all know the 6-foot rule but let’s be clear: there is no law that COVID cannot cross 6 feet. In some instances, germs can travel 10 and even 20 feet. Meaning that the 6-foot rule is a useful guideline but no panacea. Putting it all together, a situation in which all 4 factors were high risk would be a HIGH DOSE event, whereas one where all four were low risk would be a LOW dose event. https://medium.com//as-cities-move-toward-reopening-how-t/
