22.01.2022 Anyone doing a side hustle out there that you’re writing marketing copy for? As I’d say with most things that are hard, why not get expert advice. Here’s a free class with comms guru @marieforleo
21.01.2022 It's Friday. Imagine this. Your boss calls you into their office this afternoon and tells you to pack up your desk because they have to let you go. They thank you for all your hard work and dedication but unfortunately, the situation is non-negotiable. Now... after the initial shock, if the thought of losing your job has you feeling relieved or excited, it might be time for you to start thinking about what's happening for you at work. My advice is, if you're out of sync with... your current job, do not wait to do something about it. People waste years suffering in their jocks unhappy at work. I've worked with quite a few. In time, their productivity at work usually falls anyway, sometimes dramatically, as if asking to be fired, but they won't quit themselves! Do not wait to be fired in order to think about what career changes you need to make. Take responsibility for your work and life needs! If this is a lingering thought for you this weekend, be proactive, not reactive to your current reality. If you want help with this, share with me where your heads at. As a career coach, for anyone who follows @purposebuiltcareers I'm happy to run a free 45-minute career strategy session that will help you get clear on your next 1-3 progress steps. DM me on how to book in for this!
18.01.2022 Who else find it hard to fit in the extra pursuits we’d love to do but keep putting off as there’s other things that continue to demand your attention? (Even though you know it would be deeply meaningful and great if you could make time for it!) I recently discovered @sideprojectsessions who are a posse committed to creating time and space for people to do their side projects. Together, side by side IRL. Cool idea right? My side project right now is nurturing a creative ...pursuit. I’m not sure what is going to stick long term but right now I’d like to explore and get comfortable doodling and drawing on my iPad. I reckon I’m going to get along this Sunday. People do a variety of side projects from artistic projects to writing CVs to doing some study. If you have a side hustle idea, you might even like to bring that along to progress in it. If anyone wants to try this out with me, FYI the venue is @pathhunting in Brunswick East.
17.01.2022 My intention for this week: Create space for spontaneity Intention questions: How can I have room for life routines and business as usual plus also create space for spontaneity and surprises?... How many ways can I get my need for new adventures met today? Have you got an intention set for your day or week? 16.01.2022 There is much yearning and emphasis our sacred days of time off. Holidays, weekends, retirement. Where we can do me time and enjoy ourselves. This of course, for our modern lives makes sense. Weekend vibes have a special energy reserved for special time with family, friends and time on our own. But if you find yourself, like many others do, trying to pass each week as speedily and painlessly as possible. And feel drained at the thought of your days at work, your Mon-Fri s...log, there’s work that can be done. Perhaps challenge yourself to make your life more balanced and fulfilling so you can look forward to your weekdays as well as your weekends? The way you live your life is your message, your legacy, your life’s work. Today’s post has been sparked by legend @leelinchinofficial and her retirement is death statements after her resignation from the ABC. Thanks LL! . . #challenge #weekendvibes #work #career #purpose #goals
15.01.2022 Here's me interviewing and chatting with Casey Onder a fellow career coach from across the seas in Cleveland USA. In this 18 min conversation we talk about: Casey's story and her own career change from management consulting to what she does now Career stuck states - why it happens and a way out Looking at career change as a game or a creative act... A perspective on when to quit your job How taking "the next step" can be a catalyst for people working on their career Share in the comments - why you think people get stuck in careers they don't want? *And if you're personally wanting a next step to getting unstuck, send me a FB message - I have a free resource to send you!
15.01.2022 Job interviews are a conversation between you and a potential employer to work out whether you’re qualified for the role, a good cultural fit and the best of a bunch. Score highly on all three and you’re flying high in the sky. . The key to getting hired goes beyond being good at your job, but being able to comfortably yak and impart great stories about how valuable you really are. With practice, anyone can become superb at this. Many of my clients have gone from fumbling/...awkward to owning it in a couple of sessions. It’s inspiring to hear the difference the ultimate - finding out they got the job. . For anyone preparing for job interviews at the moment, shine bright like a and good luck! Know you’re better than you think you are and you got this! . . . . #interviewprep #pigeonsofinstagram #jobsearch #careerchange #weekendwork #careerdevelopment #careercoachmelbourne See more
14.01.2022 My office vibes today. To make space for quality time I’m only working half days while visiting my brother in Sydney this week. Kicking this week off at a fairly laid back pace. Today started with a park visit with Remy then observing a digger (his latest obsession) on the side of the road for a dog year followed by a massage where a sweet but insanely powerful Thai lady walked on my back and a 30 degree yoga session at @bodymindlife Now after some work ...admin and two more coaching sessions I’m off to the movies to see The Farewell. Today is a good day #allyouneediswifiandgrandparents #flexiblework #sydneylife#careercoachmelbourne

13.01.2022 Your fulfillment and happiness is a process and an ongoing journey, not a destination.
12.01.2022 I'm speaking at a business networking event next Wednesday morning about "5 Common Reasons People Get Stuck During Career Change". I'll share real-life examples of people who overcame their career pickles and how they did it. At this meeting, you will also hear from people from over 30 different industries and occupations ranging from videography > osteopathy > property > plumbing > finance > professional organising. It's a real eye-opener for people wanting to learn about different industries and you can ask me to introduce you to specific people you want to network with. Send me a msg if you'd like to come or know more about this event. I'm speaking next week, but the event runs every Wednesday morning 7-8:30am ongoing.
09.01.2022 Right now, you might be someone who is feeling unlucky to be at a career crossroads while other people have "made it" and cruised into incredible and fulfilling roles without much hardship or fuss. Please know that this simply isn't true. Doing a loop de loop to find career happiness is more commonplace than you think. Here's an excerpt from writer David Epstein's book Range studying this: "Todd Rose, director of Harvard’s Mind, Brain, and Education program, and computational... neuroscientist Ogi Ogas cast a broad net when they set out to study unusually winding career paths. They wanted to find people who are fulfilled and successful, and who arrived there circuitously. They recruited high fliers from master sommeliers and personal organizers to animal trainers, piano tuners, midwives, architects and engineers. We guessed we’d have to interview five people for each one who created their own path, Ogas told me. We didn’t think it would be a majority, or even a lot. It turned out virtually every person had followed what seemed like an unusual path." In sum, the people out there doing aligned and fulfilling work, mostly worked hard and navigated twists and turns to find it. With work, you can find it too. Give me a if you're feeling like you're at a crossroad right now with something in your life? Is there a career or life decision that continues to take your focus?

08.01.2022 Some people walk around with their flag at half mast. Half zombied, half alive, with jobs made tolerable by caffeine and work snacks. How are your energy levels this week? Could you use a check-in if you're dead or alive inside in your work? Tune in today for a career health check by checking out this blog post.
07.01.2022 It's almost the end of the work week. Are you just hanging in there or feeling alive and well? Here's a quick read about how using your strengths at work keeps your blood pumping and hormones happy.
05.01.2022 Happy Monday. For those in Melbourne or south of Melbourne, was getting out the door in today's wind chill a little brutal for you? Post work idea: Take the opportunity to run a really hot bath tonight and channel this baby eating strawberries in a sink.
04.01.2022 We're all weight lifters. We mentally or physically use our strength and muscles to get A WHOLE LOTTA things done week in, week out. If you sat documented all the things you'd be exhausted thinking about it. Without deliberate reflection, I’m definitely prone to doing weeks of work and feeling overworked and unsatisfied. Whatever progress, it doesn’t ever seem enough. Today I wanted to ask, how often do you celebrate all the work you're getting done!? For most peop...le, probs not enough. If you're currently feeling like you're on a treadmill rather than winning gold, spend a couple of minutes running through these three steps. Notice. How many ways did I add value to someone or something this week? Why is that important to me? Don't be stingy. If you're questioning whether the particular win you're thinking about is big enough to celebrate REMEMBER that every win counts, no matter how big or small. Otherwise, the days run into months, months run into years and your marathon feels like a slog. And don't wait for others to reward and celebrate you. It's usually not in their job description or KPI to do so. Create a culture of celebrating. Trial setting up the habit of celebrating the big and small wins across your team. Set up rewards to commemorate and honor people's work. A reward can look like a group email to everyone recognising someone's win or sharing your own win and why you feel proud. It might also be going for a drink together or booking in a treat to celebrate. Because you're worth it! TIP Whatever you focus on grows, so if you focus on your own and everyone's successes, it gives people specific feedback that they're on track, brings on good juju and motivation that has a powerful effect on how well we do at work and in our personal lives. OK, well done, we're done! Enjoy celebrating all the little and big things. See more
04.01.2022 Midweek reminder for the people who like things to be perfect. Sometimes seeking perfection takes you in the opposite direction you want to go. Your waiting for a perfect time or the perfect standard achieved might be expending a whole lot of time and energy that you really don't have to spare. Would it be better to give yourself a 10/10 for progress than spending years painstaking trying to get a perfect for perfection? And would it be true that your standard of ...perfection (the perfect time, perfect person, perfect thing) potentially doesn't even exist so you might be chasing an unobtainable ? Perfection is the enemy of done. Productive leaders prioritise progress over perfection and do whatever it takes, however unideal or messy. So if you like things getting done, prioritise progress over perfect*. Give me a in the comments if you're prone to perfectionism. *Unless you're doing brain surgery. Then you should probably aim for perfect every time. **And if you're considering a career change and keep sitting on it waiting for the perfect time, here's a nudge - if you're alive and breathing, the perfect time is now. DM me if you want advice around a good place to start. #prioritiseprogress #keepgoing #careercoachmelbourne #career #careerthinking #careerpaths #careerchange #itsnotbrainsurgery See more
03.01.2022 Anyone feeling flat and needing some support today? I just got off the phone to a new client who is feeling extremely burnt out from staying in a career more than a few years too long. The daily grind (if it feels like a grind) can really hurt if we leave it too long. He started the call much like this flattened hedgehog with the energy of a lead brick but within 30 mins into the coaching call I could tell he had let off a massive pressure valve and felt lighter, brighter ...and very relieved. This is because we: - Clearly defined and understood his challenge - Set a time frame and pathway for his solution - Set aside the precise resources he needs to succeed Sometimes all we need is a clear vision and some basic steps in order to solve our problems. I’m glad I could be there for someone like him today. #careersatisfaction #careercoachmelbourne #burnout #coachingsession
02.01.2022 I saw 10,000 porcelain birds fly in the air last night - a flight made possible by an artists vision and many painstaking human hours spent hand tying thin thread to each of the birds delicate wings allowing them to be dangled with aerodynamically accurate precision up above. The result is breathtaking. The starlings representing the life force qi of the terracotta warriors makes visible what was previously invisible 2000 years after these warriors were buried in their emper...ors tomb. The remarkable remains of a legacy left long ago. What is unimaginable is imagined and made possible by the artists of the world. 02.01.2022 It's natural to want a change in our work, but a lot gets in the way of finding a new gig. Watch this illuminating School of Life video if you feel even 1% unsure about your next career steps at the moment. As a career coach, I talk to a lot of people when they're feeling really stuck in their planning and thinking. They certainly then do go through a process like this (with me supporting) to get clarity and tune in to their next calling. I can attest it's not easy BUT it's WORTH IT. And don't do it alone. And this week I'm giving away a free career strategy session to someone who'd like help in their search for more fulfilling work. I promise you'll walk away with actionable steps and feeling clearer and more productive in your career search. DM me if you'd like to get this free session.
