08.01.2022 Good things come in threes 3 is the number of checks we do on every coffee lot before we send them out to you . 1- Offer sample: ... Initial quality assessment of lots that are still at origin and available for purchase. The lot offered is often still sitting in parchment. . 2- Pre-shipment sample (or PSS): Coffee we purchased based on the offer sample, has been milled and is ready for export. We want to make sure the quality of what is about to be shipped matches what we were offered in the first place. . 3- Arrival sample: Sample taken once the coffee has arrived into our warehouse, and compared to its PSS. We need to know if anything has happened in transit (any sort of damage in the container eg: or ; or even coffee swap during stop-over! ) . This is not the end of our QC program though- 3 months after arrival and every 3 months after that, we check our spot coffees to know exactly how quality is holding up as to ensure that what we offer you is what you get ! . 08.01.2022 This incredible woman is Catalina Eikenberg, Head of Sustainable Business at our sister company Neumann Kaffee Gruppe. Catalina leads the Sustainable Business Unit, which is responsible for the group’s sustainable sourcing strategy, NKG Bloom. . Prior to joining us, Catalina worked extensively in Latin America and went on to overseeing NGO programs aiming at tackling poverty in Colombia. A woman of many talents, she’s also a certified Yoga teacher who’s fluent in French, ...Spanish, German and English! . Under her direction, the NKG Bloom program aims at promoting traceability and giving coffee farmers in developing countries access to finance, inputs and education, so that can run their farms at full potential and ultimately improve their livelihoods. . Currently working in four countries (Uganda, Kenya, Mexico and Honduras) NKG BLOOM aims to reach 300,000 coffee families in 10 different producing countries by 2030 ! .
