25.01.2022 7 years ago today, Gabrielle Harris embarked on a journey of a lifetime. With her extensive experience in management consulting behind her, she set forth to find new ways of connecting and engaging employees. This passion and drive lead her to found the creative management consultancy that you see today - Interchange. There were so many management consultancies dotted all over the world that were trying to tackle culture change in quite a sterile and process-oriented way. I... had a realisation that the heart, the emotive piece was missing. Culture is all about getting individuals to want to make a shift. You need a whole group of people wanting to do something differently. Without that, your success is limited. I wanted to see if it was possible to bring together a creative way of shifting culture, whereby emotion was at the forefront and the process was the thing that sat behind it. So, I thought I would try that, and see what happens, and here we are, 7 years later. Gabrielle Harris, Founder and Managing Director of Interchange. Happy Birthday Interchange, here's to many more. #ManagementConsulting #HumanResources

Have a read of our latest article so you can nail the re-onboarding process after COVID-19. #RemoteWork #Leadership #ReOnboarding #Onboarding #COVID-19 #RemoteTeams #ReturningToWork

25.01.2022 With the return to normality on the horizon, episode 7 of The 2pm Project couldn’t have come at a better time. Joining the usual crew last week to discuss the re-onboaring process, was Organisational Psychologist at Transitioning Well, Rachael Palmer and Head of Land Systems Division, Major General Andrew Bottrell. Throughout the episode, our experts gave us some great advice to help manage the re-onboarding process, including to: Use this time to revisit your organisation’s... values. Times have changed and your values should underpin the decisions made during this time. What is really important to your organisation and how does that tie into your strategy? Spend time with each of your team members to discuss how the isolation experience has affected them. Don’t make assumptions about how they might feel as everyone copes with things differently. Find out what support measures can be put in place now and for when they return to the workplace. Notice the balance between affirmation and advice. Is the person asking for help to solve a problem or do they just need a listening ear? 23.01.2022 With Australia starting to move away from their panic stations and Victoria waving goodbye to the second wave of the pandemic, leadership and culture have never been in sharper focus for the business world. As an organisation that works in the culture and leadership space, it is important to walk the talk. It has been remarkable observing just how well the Interchange team have been able to lean into the challenges that COVID-19 has presented us with. We pivoted quickly, rem...ained focused on our clients' new needs, while navigating our own, all without losing our signature energetic and creative nature. All of this could not have been possible without our strong, connected team and our genuine, clear and empathetic leadership. Thank you, Gabrielle Harris, for leading us through this time with such care and thank you to the rest of the team for always walking the talk! #ManagementConsulting #HumanResources #Culture #Leadership

21.01.2022 Episode 9 of The 2pm Project was jam-packed with all of the entertainment and insights you could possibly hope for. Some key takeaways from the episode were:... That speed must trump perfection when managing a crisis The ‘new normal’ will likely include a lot more flexible working options Businesses are likely to de-risk their supply chains and onshore parts of their workforce. Our impact on the environment has become gleamingly obvious with pollution and waste reducing in conjunction with isolation. Sadly, next week is the final episode of The 2pm Project. 16.01.2022 New Blog Article! Leading Through Screens: How to Successfully Lead a Virtual Team - https://bit.ly/2V5F7H7 The way we live and work will never be the same following COVID-19 I don’t think that’s breaking news to any of us. 14.01.2022 Last Friday, on The 2pm Project, our resident Interchangers were joined by expert guest, Professor Anne Bardoel from Swinburne University to discuss the benefits of flexible working arrangements and how to handle the fast-paced, deep dive into it so far. If you happened to miss the show, here are some key takeaways from Professor Anne Bardoel, Gabrielle Harris and Dr Melissa Giles: 1. Flexibility will offer you control over how you connect to the workplace. It can help you be...tter balance your family needs and also give you the opportunity to start work when energy levels are at their best. 2. Research has shown that those organisations that do offer flexible working arrangements have more engaged, connected and motivated employees, while also reducing absenteeism, presenteeism and staff turnover rates. 3. If you are leading a remote team during the COVID-19 lockdown, don’t shy away from vulnerability. You may feel the need to put on a brave face in front of your team, but if you're transparent about your experience and feelings during isolation, you will boost your team connection and help to alleviate feelings of loneliness and anxiety. If you missed the show and now have major regrets, don’t worry because we’ll be back again this Friday! Topic to be revealed tomorrow so stay tuned.

11.01.2022 Last weeks episode of The 2pm Project brought us a very robust conversation around what it’s like to lead through a pandemic. Interchange Managing Director, Gabrielle Harris, WesTrac NSW and ACT Chief Executive, Greg Graham and Seek Australia and New Zealand HR Director, Rebecca Supierz, shared their experience and gave us some valuable insights on the topic. Some key takeaways from episode 6 were to: - Respond to a crisis in a way that reinforces your company values - Harnes...s and encourage the skills and abilities of your workforce rather than simply direct them. - Analyse and discuss what you’ve learned from this experience and what you may take from it to improve your organisation beyond the constraints of the pandemic. We also enjoyed an amazing musical performance by Patrick Carrick from Columbia Valley Drumming. 11.01.2022 Last week's episode of The 2pm Project delved deep into the health and safety space, shining a light on the necessary considerations when managing a crisis like COVID-19. Providing their expertise and lived experience, we had two incredible guests joining the Interchange team - Head of HSE at Liang O’Rourke, Richard Coleman, and Head of HSW at Woolworths NZ, Ben Sheidow. Some key takeaways from episode 8 were:... There is a clear overlap and interplay between mental health and physical health. They both must be deeply considered when trying to improve employee wellbeing. As a leader during these transitional periods, be there to support your teams, but don’t be too directive. Allow and empower your employees to be part of the solution. When we do return to the centralised workplace, don’t become complacent. Continue our hygiene practices and remain physically distancing. 11.01.2022 With all that COVID has presented us with this year, it is downright inspirational to see the leadership teams of some of Australia’s biggest companies dedicate considerable amounts of time to reflect and prepare. Over the past 3 months, we’ve had a 70% uplift in projects to help Executive teams work through the alignment (or creation) of their purpose, strategy and culture. These are big concepts to tackle and it’s not easy work to do, especially given the virtual engageme...nt. Despite that, it is super rewarding work and we are beyond grateful for the trust that leading brands have placed in us to help shape Australia's future. #ManagementConsulting #HumanResources #Culture #Leadership

11.01.2022 Throughout the chaos of 2020, did you use your organisational values to guide you to safety or did you cast the compass aside and veer off the beaten track? Have a read of our latest blog article and find out just how much weight your organisational values hold.... https://interchange.com.au/blog/valuable-values/ #ManagementConsulting #HumanResources #Culture #Values

11.01.2022 We’re at the point in our COVID-19 journey where the idea of going back to work doesn’t seem so far-fetched. But what happens when we get there? Will operating from our centralised workplaces feel just as foreign as working remotely did in the beginning? This Friday at 2pm, Organisational Psychologist at Transitioning Well, Rachael Palmer and Head Land Systems Division at Capability Acquisition & Sustainment Group, Andrew Bottrell, will be joining the team to discuss how this transition should be managed and what the re-onboarding process should look like. 08.01.2022 During Melbourne’s lockdown, we have stepped up to the plate and continued to (safely) produce the creative assets that support our award-winning programs. Lockdown has rendered it impossible to assemble our regular production team in Melbourne, meaning that we had to find new ways of producing our work. Thankfully we’ve been lucky enough to have the assistance of feature film director, Michael Joy (‘Men’s Group’, ‘Smoke Between Trees’) to produce our films in NSW. Together..., we created an incredible set of films targeting ‘Mental Health’ and ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ within the construction industry. We are enormously proud of the films and the powerful, positive change this project will ignite within the construction industry. #ManagementConsulting #Culture #HumanResources #Creativity #Diversity #Inclusion #MentalHealth #Wellbeing

07.01.2022 New blog article The Biased Virus: How COVID-19 has shone a light on gender inequality - https://bit.ly/3fMeb6F When it comes to ruining the things we love, COVID-19 takes the cake. It's taken our social lives, our stability and most of all - our sanity. Although it has stomped through society like an angry toddler, leaving nothing but destruction in its wake, it has impacted some demographics more than others. In this case though, we're talking about one demographic in p...articular. Women. If there is one thing this virus has done though, it has highlighted our need for action in regards to gender equality. In our businesses, in our personal lives and in our society. Check out our latest blog article to see why. #GenderEquality #COVID19 #ManagementConsulting #Leadership

06.01.2022 Although the remote working environment came with some challenges, we managed to swing it in our favour and use it to our clients advantage. We recently ran a series of online forums for a client in the service industry, with the intention to learn more about their culture. The online environment was perfect for this intention as we were able to speak to participants from all corners of the country, allowing for robust discussions and a diverse bank of perspectives.... These discussions have gone on to inform a much larger project that is going to transform the company into a customer-centric powerhouse. #ManagementConsulting #HumanResources #Culture
