23.01.2022 EMBRACE ALL VERSIONS OF YOU How many hats do you wear? ... Mum? Wife? Aunty? Business woman? Sister? Student? Best friend? How about any of these! Needy? Independent? Strong? Loving? Seductive? Fun? Reserved? Bitchy? For woman, seasons are inevitable. We go through so many emotions and rightfully so. Our bodies are designed to prepare us for birth! Hormones fluctuate in and out, eb and flow. We believe we need to fight these settings and only pick one or 2 hats to wear cause how dare we attempt to be all and do all. RIGHT? Learning and understanding about the seasons a woman goes through is and should be necessary for us and for our men. 23.01.2022 WHY YOUR 8 WEEK CHALLENGE DIDN'T WORK! Alright, we have all been there, let's be honest..Yep putting my hand up ... Started a 6/8 week challenge with high expectations of smashing goals and dropping the extra padding we are carrying We push hard, eat in a deficit, never skip a training session and the result shows at the end..BUT Come 4 weeks after the challenge is over, the weight piles back on and we are left pulling out our hair wondering why it didn't work TRUTH BOMB It did work...kinda... It worked to help you lose weight It worked to drive you to get to gym and do the hard yards It also worked by teaching you how important consistency is So why didn't it work? Ask yourself this! Do you have a firm understanding of macros, calories, how to track, how to reverse diet, how to navigate social outings, why you have a bad relationship with food? Do you have sound knowledge of how to lift optimally and with solid form, know what is meant by progressive overload, understand why you need to rest and recover or what TRUE HIIT is? 21.01.2022 YOUR BUILDING BLOCKS Protein...the bodies building blocks. ... When it comes to the fitness world, this is the most pushed macro that is "AN ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE" For a good reason too. It is the key nutrient to helping your muscles to grow and is found throughout the body from tendons to cellular structure, your immune system, to even your hair. Protein is made up of amino acids and there are 9 essential AA that our bodies need that can only come from our food However, here are some facts people in the fitness world don't tell you about protein Your body only uses what it NEEDS, so eating more doesn't mean better You don't need a protein powder to get adequate intake. Our food is more then sufficient & over consuming is simply more calories, not greater absorption You won't loose more weight on a high protein diet. MOTIVATION HAS SEASONS Motivation ebs and flows - just like tides come and go Its not all sunshine and daisies - sometimes its grey clouds and barron trees It is a natural occurrence You won't always feel like doing it - but you CAN get it done You will justify WHY you lost motivation - But you don't need to justify shit It happens...Even to the best of the best So what can you do? Here are MY 3 top tips to regaining your motivation and getting back into the swing of things BUILD ON SMALL WINS Start small, maybe it is getting a 20min walk in everyday, or having dinner at home every night. Could be simply making your damn bed every morning. Whatever it is that you can acknowledge as a win and is a small task..DO IT and then DO IT AGAIN and then ADD to it. Build up on the small stuff until it is a big win FOCUS ON THE BENEFITS & NOT THE DIFFICULTIES Getting in the gym is hard, we know that, but exercise also releases endorphins, endorphins make you happy and happy people just don't shoot their husbands. REMEMBER YOUR WHY & SIT WITH IT Right, there was a reason why you started in the first place. Think back. What triggered you to set your goal? How were you feeling back then? Are you still feeling that way about that goal now? If the answer is NO, then sit with it! Why doesn't it appeal any more? What has shifted? 18.01.2022 REMEDIAL VS RELAXATION I often am asked what is the difference between what I do and what a standard massage does... ... Put simply, remedial massage is a clinical massage. We treat individuals that have musculoskeletal injuries, high levels of tension resulting in chronic pain and we can provide rehabilitation exercises to help you avoid further pain. We will use a combination of modalities (in my case dry needling, myofascial cupping and IASTM) tailored uniquely to each client on the day of treatment. No 2 treatments are exactly the same nor should they be. We ask questions and perform any necessary orthopaedic testing to help determine what we will treat and how. A relaxation based massage is exactly that. The use of light to med pressure to evoke a sense of relaxation. There generally is a "routine" of certain massage strokes used and primarily involves the whole body. Both are amazing when done properly. 15.01.2022 HOW TO GROW YOUR GLUTES There are 3 key things needed to grow your glutes... ... 1: EXERCISE AND EXECUTION Bigger stronger glutes can help increase your squat, but it's not an exercise used to GROW your glutes. Along with the correct exercises, you need to execute the move with precision.. otherwise there is no point doing them 2: PROGRAMMING For maximum growth, you need to hit your glutes several times a week, not just the one time sis. Including variations in tempo, weight and reps to help target all gluteal muscles. 3: EAT Hate to break it to ya, but to grow you need to eat. While you don't need a huge surplus, you do need one. And I'm not talking from 0 to 100 in one day, but rather a controlled and gradual increase in your calories to avoid excessive fat gain yet gain optimal muscle growth. After a period of time in a surplus, you can drop into a small deficit and reveal all your hard work. This application isn't isolated to only the glutes. You can use these principles for growing any muscles that you desire. Yes, you can be on a "diet" (oosh I hate that word) and still eat a burger...or cake..or pizza, chocolate, cocktail, hell enter in any vice you may have here How? I am sure you have heard of it. It's called flexible dieting or IIFYM ( if it fits your macros) It's not rocket science, but it does take a sound understanding of food on a functional level Especially to do it right The principal is simple though. 09.01.2022 CARBS ARE YOUR FRIEND Carbohydrates are not the enemy. They serve a very important purpose in your bodies day to day functioning ... They are our primary source of fuel and provide energy for our brains and muscles. Yes protein and fats can be used, however, carbs are the most efficient. We can break up carbs into starch and sugars and both group have their own benefits. Which I'll discuss in another post cause ooosh so much to consider. Some facts you may or may not know about carbs The brain, nervous system and red blood cells, must have a constant supply of carbs to keep working There is NO scientific evidence to suggest that you shouldn't eat carbs after a certain time. It simply is a preference GI or glycemic index, is simply a tool used to rate the quality of carbohydrate of a carb rich food. While low-carb diets are extremely popular as a weight loss tool, it isn't the reduction/elimination of carbs that is dropping the fat, rather the overall reduction in calories, meaning it isn't the king of diets many claim it too be (there are other benefits to low carb that should be promoted over weight loss) So to sum it up...I LOVE CARBS See more

06.01.2022 WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU LIKE? I used to hate the way I looked ... 05.01.2022 DOES YOUR PAST DICTATE YOUR FUTURE? I don't know who I am talking to here but have you done something in your past that you aren't proud of? ... I know I have! We all have! Some of us have done worse things than others. But, does the "thing" you did, define who you are? It shouldn't. Do you struggle to get past it, or do you feel like you are constantly reminded of it? Understand that what you did in your past, doesn't mean that you are that person! You are greater than your misdeeds You are an ever evolving, ever leaning being. 03.01.2022 EVERYTHING ACCORDING TO GOALS! When it comes to nutrition and trying to understand it, let's be realistic. Unless you have committed to a career in the field, you will never REALLY get the full understanding. Even the best dieticians and nutritionist I know, consistently need to upskill because there is always something new that needs to be learnt. The human body is complex as hell and WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT from how we look to what we like to eat. So why do we try to "fit"... a diet that works well for someone else? I am going to suggest something a little different. Instead on focusing on a new restrictive diet or lifestyle diet, how about you focus on your goals SURROUNDING nutrition, and you figure out what YOU like. If your goal is to lose weight, then know that a calorie deficit will be key for you. If your goal is muscle gains, then more food is needed to help supplement your growth. If your goal is simply to live life, then eat what you please, when you please, without having to explain yourself to anyone. Understand that your GOALS are YOURS, and the path to them is unique to you. And don't forget, "Food isn't rational. 02.01.2022 TO DO LIST OR SCHEDULING Do you have a "to-do list" or do you schedule in everything that needs to be done? ... On the surface they almost seem the same, however, there is a vast difference especially when applying it to individuals For me, a chronic procrastinator, I use the schedule method. Put simply, I have a list of things I need to get done but I schedule those tasks in for allocated times. I sit focused on the job at hand and once my time cap is up, I move on to the next job, noting that I still need to get things done within that task if need be Why? Cause it's alot easier to accomplish more. 02.01.2022 HOW MANY EXCUSES WILL YOU MAKE BEFORE YOU CONCEDE??? * * Question for you? ... How long are you going to put up with your own excuses for not doing something before you give up? I have always found it so interesting that when something is too HARD, we give up, and generally it is only after a short period of trying Why do we not do the same when it comes to our excuses? For example, I put off changing my career path for yrs...and I mean YRS, before I finally gave up I finally resolved that my misery was only going to be relieved when I took the plunge When I did, I wondered why I took so bloody long to make the switch. The excuses I was using as to why NOT to do it were, excuse my French here but, bullshit! So why do we torture ourselves with not doing what is going to BENEFIT our life yet we are so quick to give up the potential good stuff cause it gets just a little too hard?
