25.01.2022 The R0 (the number of secondary cases which one case would produce in a completely susceptible population) for COVID-19 in Australia is currently estimated to be 2 - 2.6, almost double of the seasonal influenza virus which is ~1.3 This means that just a little social distancing goes a long way! #flattenthecurve

25.01.2022 Were extremely privileged to be presenting a screening of Against Our Oath in partnership with the UWA Medical Faculty. This documentary provides incredible insight into doctors speaking out against the Medevac Bill. The night will also feature guest speakers and a panel discussion with prominent doctors and health workers active in refugee health both offshore and in WA. We would love to see as many people as possible at this event. The opportunity to watch this docume...ntary and to hear from people experienced in the refugee health sphere is not only thought provoking, but is, we think, essential for medical students and health care professionals alike. Please make sure you follow the link on the event to RSVP.

07.01.2022 Introducing your Interhealth Co-Chairs for 2021 Aidan Lewins and Alexander Armanios!!! We're super excited to be taking over the role of Interhealth Co-Chairs for 2021. Coming off the back of a really tough year for WAMSS, Interhealth and everyone, we're looking forward to the challenge of re-energising Interhealth for 2021. Our predecessors have done a fantastic job of keeping the organisation running during a phenomenally tough year, and we hope to emulate their success in ...overseeing the rebound of the organisation. We're both very passionate about global health and health equality, having been involved in Interhealth last year as project coordinators for the GHSC Project, and an array of other roles in this space. Channelling this passion into the organisation this year will be on important part of setting the tone for Interhealth 2021. It's an exciting time to be Interhealth Chairs, with GHC 2021 taking place in Perth this year, an explosion of interest in the fields of global health and health equality in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. You can definitely expect to see us around with this flurry of activity. If you share our passion for Global Health Equality, feel free to approach us to have a chat about Global Health, some of the exciting Interhealth Projects planned for 2021, or any cool new ideas you might have in this space. We're both super friendly and approachable characters, and always happy to chat.
