24.01.2022 Dealing with, but also battling against the West and it's cultural hegemonies, @nowjooyoung adeptly and sensitively employs figures and calligraphy drawn from Korean visual and performance culture to envelop us in a realm of imagery and poems. Weaving through doorways you cannot enter, I wonder perhaps if there may be no better gatekeeper than the artists who seeks to create alternate realities. . : @melbournefilmstudio : @beatricefrgabriel .... . . . . . . . #art #inkonpaper #calligraphy #monashada #painting See more

20.01.2022 @sarahaelhay an echoing sea. focus on the unseen parts that are obscured by everything else. Opaque paint is used as a collage medium to cut out elements of interest. This work follows on from an exploration of lyrical abstract painting as well as an experimental collage practice. I work intuitively with the expressive qualities of the liquid medium and its flow. The use of ultramarine blue responds to my emotional connection to this colour, and to its sea associations. Like a beachcomber, the sea of blue provides me with the images if I just pick them up. - Sarah Elhay

18.01.2022 One of our most riveting artworks yet, and such a delight to turn upside-down, inside-out, over-under or maybe if you predee, strewn across the room at opposite ends of each other. Working elegantly in its malleability, meaning seeps into every crevice and nook of the space and itself. An exquisite moment of not knowing comes before the excitement of uncovering meaning, toppled together nicely in poetry. * A sensitive reflection of society woven through the threads of @lhots...alhotse's intricate works, neatly boxed up before we realize one of those threads is metaphorically our own. Whether you find yourself within them or not is okay, perhaps so long as you take with you the gentle reminder that you are not alone, and that in one way or another, you and I - we, are connected. 17.01.2022 Sometimes 'aesthetic' is a dirty word in contemporary art, but @till.cole gives us all the reasons for why it shouldn't be. Thoughtfully exploring material to their most minute detail, less has never been more, and in the best way possible. Here, materiality sits itself in what it means to look, to really look and appreciate an object for what it is; but it also transcends intimately looking into touch and smell (Belgian chocolate, to be precise!) revealing that the beauty of... a work truly is in the details . : @georginapynta : @beatricefrgabriel . . . . . . . #art #sculpture #glass #chocolate #materiality #contemporaryart #monashada #minimal #rock #aesthetic @ Intermission Gallery See more

14.01.2022 In a maze of mirrors, how do you see where you end and your reflection begins? @siannhope disorients the viewers through play of light projections and reflections. We lose a sense of self within the room and ultimately the world. Just like a mirror maze, Hope blurs the lines between our self identity and the identity imposed by the public. : @jessicatanto.art : @melbournefilmstudio ... #art #videowork #gallery #artistsoninstagram #mirrors @ Intermission Gallery See more
