23.01.2022 Hot Topic Lawn Growth Regulation what does this mean? Plenty of misinformation out there around when is the right time to put down a PGR (Plant Growth Regulator).... PGR is a great tool that can be utilised year round in various situations. When discussing Primo or equivalent, I have observed it stated that bare or weak or shady spots in your lawn should not be treated, this is frankly wrong. Referring to the manufacturers fact sheet and personal experience, PGR,s inhibit the gibberellic acid production and hence cell elongation. This does a couple of things in that vertical growth is slowed whist plant resources are diverted to root growth and stolon lateral growth. I have seen this work so well, the recovery of bare areas were accelerated at an amazing pace.
