24.01.2022 We are living in crucial times, where the search for equity, equality and self-determination around the globe sometimes seems so hard to reach. A year ago we changed our name to highlight that a huge part of what we do is offer peer support to everyone in our intersex community, acknowledging the diversity between who we are and the words we use to talk about our bodies. And that means, we are here for you, especially throughout these turbulent moments. We are here to listen to your stories, to provide you with all support and material needed to make sense of intersex - in body, time and space. From IPSA we will continue to be there, giving space for your voice, to find others and build community. https://isupport.org.au/
22.01.2022 Advocacy, Advocacy, Advocacy! To be able to freely exercise our rights for self determination and for this to be communicated within institutions of health and justice, advocacy and activism has been a central part of what we do over the years. With members and activists of our communities we have produced strategies and a consortium to help with the creation of policies and protocols that can secure the rights and wellbeing of intersex people. These strategies are informed by the lived experience of our members. Policies done by and for the intersex community. Here is a photo from January 2020 of one of the Darlington gatherings, a consortium of intersex-led organisations and individual community leaders making the change we want to see. 20.01.2022 Thinking about the importance of symbols, in today’s video we wanted to share the thought process that was behind Morgan Carpenter’s creation of the intersex flag - an image now used to represent intersex people everywhere, away from misconception or stereotypes. To quote Morgan directly it symbolises our right to make our own decisions about our own bodies. While the purple circle came from the idea of wholeness, the 2002 documentary "Yellow for Hermaphrodite" featuring intersex activist Mani Mitchell inspired the choice of yellow as a background color - a reclaimed golden horizon of celebration of diversity. 17.01.2022 A great day to Wear it Purple 28 August to show support for queer youth. Purple is a fashion choice we can really get behind as the intersex colours are purple and yellow! Wear it Purple has a simple message: You have the right to be proud of who you are. Who you love and how you define yourself does not change that.

13.01.2022 We come from all different nationalities, cultures and walks of life, bringing with us a myriad of life experiences. However, in all our differences, one shared experience is the discrimination caused by a lack of understanding by the wider community. Moving towards a more caring and thoughtful understanding, the Darlington Statement is an amazing starting point for sharing knowledge www.darlington.org.au/statement. It sets out the priorities and calls by the intersex human rights movement of which we are part of: human rights and legal reform; health and wellbeing; peer support; allies; and education, awareness and employment.

08.01.2022 In this week's video, intersex activists Morgan Carpenter and Dr Agli Zavros-O share early personal experiences about the difficulties intersex people face from childhood and continue to deal with when entering broader society. They also touch on the importance of hearing each others' voices to communicate our bodies and rights, all to help present and future generations to feel supported and with access to necessary information. Communicating these issues was one of the focuses during the production of the Darlington Statement, a key stone document which incorporates the need to address change to secure health access and self determination for intersex people at all levels of society, governments and institutions. Let’s read it, share it and learn together. https://darlington.org.au/statement/

04.01.2022 Being intersex accounted for years of struggle at school, fear, anguish and depression. But with knowledge, I’ve slowly grown to accept and embrace what makes me different. I’ve built self-confidence and developed strategies to transcend my limitations, says Paul. https://independentaustralia.net//lgbti-i-is-for-intersex-
