17.01.2022 Introducing Jermain, a loyal member of Intersport Tamworth and a passionate advocate for indigenous culture wherever he goes! My name is Jermain Walford, I am 22 years of age, born in Dubbo and now live in Tamworth. I am the coach of the under 13s North Tamworth Bears and work at Intersport Tamworth. I play a lot of touch football locally, at the representative level and contribute a lot of my time towards creating opportunities for myself, the youth and the community. One o...f my goals is to represent and promote Intersport because not only is it my place of work but being a sport store and having access to equipment is one of the biggest bonuses you can have. As sport is a major part of my life, I aim to encourage anyone and everyone to remain healthy and stay active. I'll be celebrating NAIDOC week this year by playing in the National Indigenous Touch Knockout held in Dubbo, representing Tamworth Touch and Euraba. I will also be sharing my knowledge and love for my culture through marching and promoting our beautiful flag. NAIDOC week to me is one of the most important weeks on the calendar as it's an entire week set out to celebrate and recognise our Indigenous Culture. To me it shouldn't be a one week thing, it should be promoted and talked about all year long, as it is represents the first people on this land our ancestors. If you are unsure about the true meaning behind NAIDOC week, I highly suggest you to do your research, ask questions and learn more about Aboriginal Culture. It will open your mind and wow you!! This is and always will be Aboriginal Land. I've got many inspirations, but one of my biggest was a young man who sadly lost his life but will forever remain in my heart. His influence on myself and the whole community was unreal, his dedication towards his Culture, Sport and Dance was out of this world.
