24.01.2022 NEW YEAR'S EVE FIREWORKS VIEWING ITC is waiting on information from Lane Cove Council about what measures they will be putting in place for New Years Eve to limit the number of people gathering to watch the fireworks. However the Premier at her news conference today asked everyone to watch the 12.00 am fireworks at home (there are NO family fireworks at 9.00). Many people watch the fireworks from Manns Point, Linley Cove or Longueville. This leads to gatherings which would ...exceed the outdoor gathering rules. Stay at home or go to a venue that has the 4 sq m rule in play. Make sure you book any venues as they will have limited capacity. A reminder that St Ignatius' College, Riverview grounds are CLOSED for NYE
21.01.2022 NSW Police have charged a teenager for allegedly making a hoax call/email to North Sydney school. They do not think the teenager was responsible for the original threats. However details were released about the arrest to show how serious they are taking matters. The Police stated: Today’s arrest is indicative of the seriousness of making such threats, with the offence carrying a maximum penalty of up to ten years in prison. The NSW Police Force and the Department of Educ...ation are committed to the safety of students and staff and will act swiftly to any threat to harm any member of any school community. Cybercrime Squad detectives have charged a teenage boy over an alleged copycat threat, as investigations continue into threatening emails received by schools across NSW last week. On Tuesday (27 October 2020), more than 20 high schools across Sydney received an anonymous email which outlined threats toward the school. The following day (Wednesday 28 October 2020), more than 10 high schools in regional NSW received a similar email. On Thursday (29 October 2020), a threat was received by a North Sydney school, which was inconsistent with those received earlier in the week. Police were contacted and the schools enacted their emergency response plans, which included evacuations, causing significant disruptions to students and staff members. Local officers, assisted by specialist police, conducted extensive searches at each of the schools, and no items of interest were located. Detectives from the Cybercrime Squad established Strike Force Rolum to investigate the circumstances and origins of the emails. Following extensive inquiries, Cybercrime Squad detectives executed a search warrant at a Southern Sydney home and arrested a teenage boy, about 7am today (Wednesday 4 November 2020). During the arrest, the boy allegedly spat on an NSW Police Force civilian employee. Several electronic devices, including computers and mobile phones, were seized and will undergo further examination. The teenager was taken to Kogarah Police Station and charged with use carriage service to threaten to kill, use carriage service to make hoax threat and common assault. Police will allege in court that the boy sent threatening emails and made a threatening phone call to a North Sydney school on Thursday 29 October 2020. He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Wednesday 25 November 2020. Cybercrime Commander, Detective Acting Superintendent Gordon Arbinja, said investigations under Strike Force Rolum are continuing. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances and origins of the other email threats which we believe are separate and unrelated to the North Sydney incident, Det A/Supt Arbinja said.

Luckily one local Darren Simpson has an excellent reputation. Darren is the man behind Multistyle Painting & Decorating. https://inthecove.com.au//meet-darren-simpson-of-multisty/

16.01.2022 NSW Health has just released the following press release - make sure you show this to your kids!! Santa Claus is coming to town (no quarantine required)... The global COVID-19 pandemic will not impede Santa or his helpers’ entry into NSW on 24 and 25 December, thanks to an extra-special essential workers exemption granted by the NSW Minister for Health Brad Hazzard. Mr Hazzard has written to Mr Claus’s North Pole address to say he and his elves and nine reindeers are not required to complete a 14-day isolation in hotel quarantine after their sleigh crosses the NSW border. This exemption has been shared with NSW Police to ensure Santa is able to travel freely and safely across Australia’s most populous state. Mr Claus, I understand you have significant magical powers which allow you to travel the world safely without transmitting COVID-19, Mr Hazzard writes in the letter. I am aware you have safely delivered presents to children in Australia during previous pandemics and as a result I am confident you will take the necessary precautions to keep our community safe. Accordingly, this exemption will include the following precautions: All presents will be delivered after bedtime to minimise contact; You and your elves maintain 1.5 metres physical distancing should you encounter others; If you are unwell, you get a COVID-19 test and isolate right away; You and your elves must wash your hands regularly and carry hand sanitiser; Wear a mask if you or your elves are ever unable to maintain physical distancing. A spokeswoman for Santa Claus confirmed receipt of the special exemption and said Santa and his helpers were only too happy to comply, having secured a jumbo supply of hand and hoof sanitiser to last their journey. After a challenging year, Mr Claus wants this Christmas to be the best yet, she said. Santa’s advice to the NSW community is to stay safe and look after each other as you reflect on how blessed NSW has been in keeping COVID-19 at bay.

12.01.2022 WARNING Further to our post earlier this week about a car having its window smashed and broken into in a Lane Cove apartment block. We have been contacted by a resident from a Lane Cove North apartment block who told us they received a notice from their body corporate that 2 men were seen on the apartment's CCTV in the garage. They were looking for unlocked cars and did take a few things from unlocked cars. A good reminder to always lock your car and remove any valuables. It's always a good idea to double check you have locked your car, as some Insurance companies deny claims if they find you have left your car unlocked. If the car is stolen and they eventually locate the car they will do forensic studies on it to see if the car was unlocked.
