23.01.2022 The Whaler is all ready for winter: fire pots, mulled cider, and always good tunes ;)

22.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR! My first year of lettering 'properly', and it's been so fun! Having a creative outlet was a goal of mine in 2019 and while I haven't done quite as much as I first imagined, I've done the right amount to keep my heart happy without making it feel like a 'job', so I call that a success! The past week I've been setting up my Bullet Journal for 2020, and this is a quote I plan to look back on regularly. Bring on 2020, I think it's going to be my year!

19.01.2022 Worked on this messy, scrawled style font on a nice piece of Tasmanian Sassafras this week! A beautiful Father's Day present! (Don't worry, Dad's not on social media, I checked!)

18.01.2022 A newbie for this week, you might see it if you're floating around Salamanca this weekend! If you'd like a sign for your venue or event, you can contact me at [email protected]

17.01.2022 Stationery?! Can do!! Whether it's fully addressing your invites to post, or just a playful little name for a gift or card like these, let's talk about what you need!

16.01.2022 In all the chaos that is December I forgot all about this board! I actually really love it

16.01.2022 Aaaand it's over! Thanks again to Hobart Rum Fest for having me a part of your day with a HEAP of sign writing! I hope you loved how they looked as much as I loved making them!

14.01.2022 Weddings It's the perfect time to start planning your signage and stationery for the next wedding season! I'm still working on some gorgeous standard signage but if you have a special vision, get in touch!!

13.01.2022 I've just started playing with watercolours for an upcoming wedding stationery set... and I'm a little bit obsessed right now! Any tips and tricks from seasoned painters out there? I picked up a brush for the first time in about 10 years yesterday...

11.01.2022 Today's window project for the Tasmanian Wine Centre! Another brain bending backwards writing job!! Here's the process from creating the template through to completion!

10.01.2022 This was HUGE for me, even though it wasn't actually being published anywhere. An amazing student at Foundry interviewed me about my In The Meantime journey and being a 'professional creative' (Huh? Me?!). Thanks for thinking of me Amanda Bates and letting me agonise over calling myself an artist of some sort!

10.01.2022 Matchy matchy for The Whaler's festive plans! Hopefully these ones catch your eye from the carpark ;)

09.01.2022 Mirrors = the hardest thing in the whole world to photograph! I had the honour of creating this cute little welcome sign for a dear old school friend's wedding a while ago! I really like its playful bouncy-ness! (It was very weird writing my own name though!)

08.01.2022 Ooph. Winter is rough! I'm finding it hard to be creative, because I really just want to curl up in a blanket covered ball and sip coffee all day! Here's August's Bullet Journal spread, because honestly that's all I've got for you!! Actual new work: coming soon!

08.01.2022 Sometimes I get to work on INCREDIBLY special projects. A little while ago my sister's partner asked me to create these signs, and this is how he proposed! She said yes, but I'm not sure how much of that was yes to the guy and how much was yes to those very very good doggos!

07.01.2022 A fun little welcome sign I made for my beautiful sister's hens day today! Perfectly modelled by the bride (and Mum) to be, and styled by the lovely Belle Events By Sophie & Sarah at their stunning waterside property!

06.01.2022 Gotta love it and when you're at your bartending job and get to spend the whole shift playing with a new menu board instead.

06.01.2022 Who doesn't love some cheap beverages?! Loved stenciling this logo!

03.01.2022 I pretty much always start a new journal in July. I fill the book too much to fit an entire year in it and starting a second at any other time feels weird. It feels especially fitting to start a new journal next month with life slowly returning to "normal" in my part of the world, it feels like the start of the year was pretty much a blurry mess. So, here's to the second half of 2020. It isn't cancelled, but rather, the most important year of them all.

03.01.2022 This one's fresh as a daisy at Customs House Hotel tonight!

02.01.2022 Drew on this big ol' wall for Rude Boy today ready for their upcoming new menu launch! Get on in this week for some finger lickin' goodness!

01.01.2022 I'm a little quiet over here lately, sorry! Right now, I'm chipping away at a whopping 15 signs for Hobart Rum Fest this Sunday! See you there?! (2.5 down... Wish me luck!!)

01.01.2022 Spending my Sunday mapping out fonts for a course on typography I'm studying. I chose to look at 4 female type designers, and their work is so beautiful! .
