25.01.2022 We need a foundation like this in Australia. Bringing last wishes alive for our older Aussies would be an incredible gift. Hmmm I'm thinking of starting another foundation (in my spare time of course). https://www.facebook.com/nicolle.miller//10210575880936336

23.01.2022 I’m loving the inventive ways providers improve their residents quality of life. Well done MACS! https://www.facebook.com/MACSGeelong/posts/1805179062847345

22.01.2022 Why wait for ANZAC day to tell our older community members that we honour and respect them. Not just for their war service but all they have achieved in their lives. Take time out to chat to older people you will learn something! https://www.facebook.com//a.15657317437/1296995567001772/

22.01.2022 Looking through my Innovations mag this week and found an interesting little gadget. A toilet night light with a motion sensor. This could be a good cheap solution for those who need to use the toilet at night. I especially like the contrasting colours it could help some dementia suffers locate the toilet.

16.01.2022 The weather is heating up the sun is starting to shine (at least it did yesterday in Melbourne). A reminder to keep hydrated on the hot days. Check on your elderly relatives and neighbours and invite them out for an icy pole or drink. Enjoy the sun

16.01.2022 Out in Upper Beaconsfield today touring an old guest house turned aged care home Salisbury House. Beautiful views and a lovely homey feel. We were treated to high tea in the gorgeous fine china tea set. The profiteroles were really yummy, something residents are treated to often. Thanks Pam for a lovely afternoon and for showing us your lovely home.

11.01.2022 Whether they are caring for a younger person or an older one, carers are very special people and deserve recognition for the wonderful job they do but they also need our support!! https://www.facebook.com/saneaustralia/videos/10153735664542581/

08.01.2022 Back to Burwood in Melbourne's east where we toured Royal Freemasons Elizabeth Gardens. You would never know you were in the middle of the city! A quirky shaped aged care home with lots of areas to sit read watch TV or chat with friends and family. With the typical excellent care by Royal Freemasons staff who have been working here for an average of 15 yrs this home is worth a look!

04.01.2022 I watched Dateline last night. It's never too old to learn new tricks. Wonderful example of "positive ageing" well done Hip Op-eration I'll be looking for your next dance video! http://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/video/single/732612675862/#

01.01.2022 There has been a lot of noise surrounding unspent funds and home care exit fees. There are 2 things I'd like recipients of a home care package to understand. 1. A home care package is a pot of money for you to use in order for you to remain living a good quality of life in your home. It is not intended to be a savings account. At the end of each year if you have unspent funds on your statement contact your provider, ask them what you can spend it on. Maybe your home needs som...e maintenance, how about a thorough spring clean and declutter. Or what about some trips to visit grandchildren or see the sights. Or upgrade your home monitoring system. Or if you are unsure, there are many providers who offer a home and care audit, a once over to make sure you are maximising your funds. The message is spend it! Don't save it! 2. Exit fees can only be charged if there are unspent funds when you leave the providers care. Regardless of the exit fee stated, if you don't have that amount in unspent funds you cannot be asked to pay it. If your provider is trying to pressure you into signing an agreement that differs from this don't sign it and seek advice. As always we are here to guide you through this maze, give Into Aged Care a call if you have any questions or concerns. See more
