15.01.2022 YOGA TO BALANCE THE PRANA VAYUS 5 x 1.5 HOUR STREAMED CLASSES Practice these flowing, graceful classes that dive deepely into breath, inner awareness and the energy body in your own time, and as often as you like! The prana vayus are subtle energetic forces in our system that move in different areas of the body and have their own specific effects. Balance and enhance these subtle energies through focused breath-work, targeted asana, pranayama, mantra (sound vibration) mudra a...nd and bandha techniques, within a dynamic vinyasa format. Suitable for general to intermediate level students, these classes get a little more dynamic and challenging as we go through the course-so you could stay with each practice for a week or more and then move on, to gradually build strength and ability over a few months. Each class is between 1 hour 15mins to 1.5 hours. Flo Fenton Has been practising yoga since 1991, and teaching since 1997. Trained by masters of Iyengar, Astanga, Satyananda and Viniyoga traditions, Flo's focus is on finding our natural ease within the postures, and on cultivating an ever deepening awareness of the relationship between the body, the breath, and our state of mind. 'Paring back' each pose and starting always from the essential foundation of each posture, we build awareness of where we can remain with comfort in each pose, through the medium of graceful, flowing sequences in synchrony with the breath. Her style is both meditative and enlivening, balancing the active and the passive sides of our nature. In my notes from a long-ago class with Krishnamacharya on 27 November 1976, he says that asan...a should not be bhga-sdhana. He was fond of repeating variants of this quote. Bhga-sdhana means a practice for only some parts of the body. Asana should be sarva-anga-sdhanait should work on all parts of the body. He would also note that asana should not be anga-bhanga-sdhana or a practice that disrupts the health of body parts. It is possible to make the appearance of asana without it being yoga. The point of asana as yoga is not just to assume the shape of a pose. Asana is about good health and a peaceful mind. That means we must use all the parts of the body by doing a variety of movements, not just a limited set of asanas, every day. We must also include slow and deeper breath, with the quality of sttvic mindfulness (calm, clear, pleasant, steady). A. G. Mohan
