20.01.2022 A story about a mothers instincts .... This little munchkin had a great day yesterday and went to sleep easily but became very unsettled about 10 pm and remained so for most of the night. Initially I thought she may just be hot and thirsty, but my gut feeling told me to turn the lights on - i noticed that she was squirming in pain and grabbing at her left ear. She was in obvious pain. I know too well the pain an ear infection can cause. Thankfully, i have a cupboard full of... remedies at home including essential oils for pain and inflammation- i rubbed a little lavender, basil and white fir on the outside of her ear and down her neck. Soon she crawled onto my belly(still her favourite place to cuddle) and fell fast asleep. Now- i have to admit this was extremely uncomfortable for me and i barely slept a wink- BUT ... At least Elodie did and thankfully woke up bright as a button. I took her to the doctors this morning to confirm the diagnosis(and yes she does have a nasty ear infection) and very surprisingly- an examination shows potential scarring in her other ear due to old infections..which she had never shown symptoms of. She is now on her first ever dose of antibiotcs. To support her immune system and gut she is also on probiotics and I will continue to use the essential oils concurrently. This is a good reminder for me that it is important to trust your instincts and do what feels right at the time. For those that know me well - giving antibiotics was not a usual or particularly easy decision for me- but this time..my tough little girl needs some extra assistance and that is perfectly okay
20.01.2022 One of the most common nutrient deficincies is zinc. It can be caused by poor nutrients in food, oral contraceptive pill, having babies(especially boys) plus many other reasons and is required for 100s of processes in our body! And sexually active males require more (wont go into details of why here though!) Foods high in zinc are oysters, beef, spinach, pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate- to name a few, but sometimes it is necessary to supplement with good quality zinc, especially if you are run down, have skin issues or digestive complaints. I routinely do a zinc tally test for my clients to check their zinc status. If you would like more info- get in touch!
19.01.2022 If you're feeling on edge right now, you're not alone - and you don't have to cope alone either. Talk to your natural health professional about what's on your m...ind and ask them to assist with lifestyle practices to help improve your resilience, and to refer you for further professional help if necessary. Herbs can assist with mild anxiety and nervousness too. For example, your practitioner might recommend St John's wort, which supports healthy mood balance and relieves symptoms of mild anxiety. 18.01.2022 In light of the current situation and the uncertainty of the times, I have decided, for my own sanity, that I am going to revisit my love of Ted Talks-as a source of inspiration and positivity and to challenge my thinking. I will share with you my favourite talks and hopefully you will also enjoy them. Todays talk is about adaptation and finding creativity within limitations. It is a brilliant short talk that will put a on your face(guaranteed)!

16.01.2022 Even naturopaths get sick sometimes!!! What to do when you are sick...but cant decide what to eat to help fuel your body? ......Make soup of course! the decision of which soup to make was too hard for me today so making 4 different ones- a roast pumpkin, carrot and ginger soup, a tomato soup, a spinach soup and a leek and zucchini soup. Think i have plenty of choices there! For me soup is soul food- its nourishing and warming and being able to make it and freeze it makes it a perfect quick meal for the family when needed.

15.01.2022 Day 2. A short clip from a documentary that was filmed to demonstrate the power of music in unlocking memory in dementia sufferers. Henrys eyes shine when he talks about why he loves music and I think he talks a hell of a lot of sense!

10.01.2022 So we are officially in the silly season! I was going to do a count-down to xmas health tips for the month of december but instead have decided to do something a little different. I have been trying to draft a post about a topic that I am passionate about for the past week- the role music plays in healing, but i am coming unstuck in the sheer volume of amazing podcasts and articles I have saved and choosing only one as a supporting addition to my post. So, i have decided that for the next 24 days, I will upload 1 podcast or article a day that supports and explains why music can be so powerful and transformational to our health and well-being throughout our life ,from little tiny bubs all the way through to the elderly! I hope you enjoy them!

06.01.2022 Day 1. A beautiful story
06.01.2022 It would not be unreasonable to assume that by the time this piece is written our understanding of COVID-19 would have changed. Theres nothing like the threat of a potential global pandemic to bring the media to frenzy and invite a wide array of commentary from experts. Fear is driven by the unknown, but lets be pragmatic, all we can focus on is what we do know. From a natural healthcare point of view all that we do know is that vitamin C is playing an important role. Bas...ed on experience from other potential epidemics coupled with recent success, Chinese health authorities have publicly recommended that vitamin C be used in high doses. You may find this referenced article of interest. High-dose vitamin C treatment of new coronary pneumonia. (2020). Retrieved March 4, 2020, from http://2yuan.xjtu.edu.cn/Html/News/Articles/21774.html So instead of stocking up on toilet paper- stock up on vitamin c ( and zinc, echinacea, eat well, get enough sleep and enjoy the sunshine!)

02.01.2022 Dry Needling What is Dry Needling? Dry Needling is defined as rapid, short-term needling to altered or dysfunctional tissues in order to improve or restore function. This may include but is not limited to myofascial trigger points, periosteum & connective tissues. ... Pain reduction & restoration of motion range are treatment outcomes of Dry Needling that are often seen immediately after removal of the acupuncture needles. Dry needling can be used in conjunction with remedial massage/soft tissue therapy or on its own. Which conditions respond well to Dry Needling therapy? Because muscles are almost always involved in the most common physical injuries, Dry Needling can help with conditions such as low back pain, neck pain, tension headaches, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, golfers elbow, tennis elbow, knee pain, ankle sprains, post exercise muscle soreness, plantar fasciitis, muscle tension/strains & joint stiffness. How does it work and is it painful? Dry needling woks by relaxing muscle fibres, reducing pain & restoring normal function. It has wide ranging effects including improving joint mobility, restoring muscle strength, reducing muscle pain & even reducing inflamed soft tissues following acute injuries. The mono-filament needle is very thin, solid, and flexible, which allows for the needle to be pushed through the skin versus cutting the skin. This helps reduce any discomfort that may occur with the procedure. We strive to make the treatment virtually painless however at times a local twitch response of the muscle may be felt. When the needle is inserted into the pathological tissue the local twitch response sensation is normal and is felt only momentarily. Many patients describe this twitch response as a little electric shock, cramp or an ache sensation. These sensations are perfectly normal and even a desirable response. How will I feel after Dry Needling Therapy? This will vary but many patients experience immediate relief of their symptoms and an increase in range of motion. Soreness can also be a common response from the needling but does not occur with all people. Some individuals may experience an immediate achiness or a delayed soreness the next day. The soreness, if present, will usually last 1-2 days, use of heat and light massage and movement will be beneficial. Mild bruising may occur at the needling sites and is more prevalent in certain parts of the body. Is Dry Needling safe? Dry Needling is very safe. In a study (Brady et al. 2013) of 7629 treatments which recorded the possible adverse events related to using Dry Needling, it was found that Dry Needling had a very low percentage of serious outcomes (0.04%) as compared with the possible serious adverse reactions resulting form taking Aspirin (18.7%) & Ibuprofen (13.7%). Call 0448511679 and book an appointment today to start effectively treating your aches and pains naturally!
02.01.2022 Gooooood morning i love to wake up with the sun but usually i spend the time prepping for the day ahead, school lunches and a run when i can.
