09.01.2022 To Gluten Or Not To Gluten? This is a great article that highlights some important points regarding self-diagnosis of coeliac’s disease (CD) and or gluten intolerance. Furthermore, this article touches on the Low Fodmaps diet developed by Monash University by Dr Sue Shepard and her team. Dr Shepard has shown that perhaps the culprit isn’t gluten in relation to IBS symptoms. But, potentially the fructose, oligosaccharides (fructans and galactans), lactose and or polyols found in gluten and other products in the diet. Speak to your doctor surrounding eliminating coeliac disease for IBS symptoms first before cutting gluten from your diet forever. Then follow up with an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) if you don’t feel comfortable starting the low fodmap diet on your own.
