25.01.2022 The discovery of yellow crazy ants less than 20km from Townsville has alarmed the local taskforce battling these invasive ants.

25.01.2022 Buffel grass might be out of sight, out of mind for most Australians, but it's on the march in arid Australia. If left unmanaged it could be just as destructive as feral cats, and is hurting the cultural and social practices of Aboriginal people.

22.01.2022 Are you passionate about conservation and protecting our natural environment? The fragile sub-alpine and alpine environment of Kosciuszko National Park is under threat from the hard hooves of thousands of horses and needs a champion. Could that be you? Apply to become our Reclaim Kosci campaigner at https://invasives.org.au/about-us/jobs/... Applications close Sunday 13 September 2020.

21.01.2022 We need to act fast to protect Tasmania's incredible Wilderness World Heritage Area and other precious areas in the Apple Isle from invading feral deer! A survey of deer numbers released over the weekend shows there are at least 54,000 feral deer in Tasmania, and that survey didn't even cover the World Heritage Area, northwest or southern areas of the state. Please send the Tasmanian Premier an urgent email now: bit.ly/wilderness-action... The Wilderness Society Tasmania Bob Brown Foundation Tasmanian National Parks Association Environment Tasmania

21.01.2022 How could you trust the Nationals? Deputy Premier John Barilaro pushed through legislation protecting feral horses at the expense of our native wildlife. Now he won't save koalas.... Stop protecting ferals over our wildlife!

21.01.2022 Feral predators are a leading cause of extinctions in Australia. A national threatened species strategy with a strong focus on controlling feral predators and weeds is critical to saving Australian wildlife.

20.01.2022 Thank you Minister Gentleman for your continued leadership on feral horse control in the Australian Alps. #threatenedspeciesday

20.01.2022 More than 2000 feral animals have been removed from Kosciuszko National Park to give our threatened native wildlife a fighting chance after last summer's bushfires. Pigs, deer and goats have all been targeted. What's missing from this picture? Feral horses, courtesy of special protections created by NSW deputy premier John Barilaro.

18.01.2022 A recent survey of Tasmanian farmers showed massive support for re-classifying deer as a feral pest in that state. In fact more than 90% of those who voted agreed deer should be treated as a pest species, and not partly protected. If you want to give Tassie farmers a leg up and don't want to see deer trash Tassie Wilderness send the Tasmanian Premier an urgent email now: bit.ly/wilderness-action Deer numbers in Tasmania are out of control, and they are moving into the Tasmani...an Wilderness World Heritage Area. The Tasmanian premier has to act fast to bring numbers down or face rising anger from farmers and destruction in the Wilderness World Heritage Area.

18.01.2022 The use of glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup and many other weedkillers, is very controversial. However, it is also the main herbicide used on crops in Australia and the main herbicide used against weeds invading our native ecosystems. We commissioned Tim Low to write this new report, Glyphosate: A Chemical to Understand, in an attempt to reconcile the conflicting findings, and to consider the outcomes if Australia bans glyphosate.

17.01.2022 The Senate hearings into Tasmania's growing feral deer problem are proving highly illuminating and should greatly inform the development of a new deer management plan. Today starting at 9am the Senate will hear from the Australian Deer Association, Tasmanian Deer Advisory Committee, Lenah Game Meats, Game Services Tasmania and DPIPWE. You can watch it online at https://www.aph.gov.au/Watch_Read_Listen

16.01.2022 Deer colliding with cars and stags in rut were clear signs Port Macquarie had a growing feral deer problem on its hands back in 2015. They now have a control plan in the pipeline and if you're a local and have spotted deer in your neighbourhood the best thing you can do is report it to council. Last year we worked hard to see NSW de-list deer as a 'game species', removing red tape for landholders wanting to control numbers and treating them just like any other pest species.

15.01.2022 On National Threatened Species day our Reclaim Kosci campaign has launched their online exhibition of threatened species art, carefully crafted by some of their supporters, to remind the world of the beauty that would be lost if these species were allowed to be trampled into extinction.

15.01.2022 National environmental laws are failing to stop species becoming extinct in Australia. Can a review of the EPBC Act stop this extinction trajectory?

14.01.2022 There's a movement called compassionate conservation. If adopted it would mean invasive species would not be culled, leading to the rapid extinction of even more vulnerable native species in Australia. No more control of feral cats. Foxes would be free to feast unfettered our our wildlife. Herds of hard-hooved feral animals like deer, goats and horses would expand their numbers and range exponentially. Is compassionate conservation misplaced empathy? We think the answer is pr...etty obvious. What do you think?

13.01.2022 Our annual Froggatt Awards are now open for public nominations. Do you know an individual or organisation achieving incredible wins in the battle to protect nature from invasive species?

13.01.2022 For #threatenedspeciesday our Reclaim Kosci campaign showcased the amazing threatened species art that their supporters had been working on for the past year. Some of the artworks have now found new homes with politicians who bear the responsibility of protecting the natural beauty of the Australian Alps. Thank you again to our wonderful supporters who made this project possible. ... You can view the full gallery of artwork, along with statements from the artists, here: https://reclaimkosci.org.au/flower-project/

11.01.2022 Our Reclaim Kosci campaign has already reached over 1,000 signatures on their petition to the NSW lower house calling for better management of the impacts of feral horses in Kosciuszko. If they reach 20,000 it will automatically trigger a debate in the lower house. Can you help them get there? NSW residents, sign here: bit.ly/savekosci

10.01.2022 Have you heard about this iconic Australian beauty? It's National Threatened Species Day and our Reclaim Kosci campaign are highlighting a true Australian icon. #threatenedspeciesday

10.01.2022 Wool grower Simon Cameron has penned an impassioned plea in the Mercury newspaper this week asking the TFGA and the Tasmanian government to change course and protect farmers and the environment from the state's growing feral deer problem. "Farmers are significant contributors to the economy and the building of brand Tasmania. They carry the burden of the impact of deer," he writes. A recent survey of Tasmanian farmers showed massive support for re-classifying deer as a feral ...pest in that state. In fact more than 90% of those who voted agreed deer should be treated as a pest species, and not partly protected. 06.01.2022 Ground temperatures are rising, and that means fire ants in Queensland are coming out of winter hibernation to scout for food. It's the perfect time to bait these highly aggressive invasive ants as the eradication program pushes east into parts of Ipswich and western Logan. If you live in this area expect a knock at the door soon.... Nobody said eradicating fire ants would be easy, but it's a job that has to be done. For more information visit daf.qld.gov.au/fireants or call 13 25 23.

06.01.2022 Great to see our yellow crazy ant project get a write-up in the latest Wet Tropics Management Authority's yellow crazy ant newsletter! Bev and Janet are doing an amazing job but they desperately need new funding, especially with a new infestation discovered very close to Bowling Green Bay National Park. You can read the newsletter story online at https://mcusercontent.com//551c794e-48/EnewsSeptember6.pdf

05.01.2022 This is a great opportunity for Tasmanians with an adventurous spirit and a love of wilderness. The award-winning SPRATS project has a few spots left for volunteers ready to brave Tasmania's wild wilderness coastline this summer as they help rid the area of weedy sea spurge and marram grass. Details on our website, applications need to be in by 4 October 2020. The trip includes a helicopter flight into this remote area!

04.01.2022 Cats can be affectionate, playful, mischievous, lazy and regal, but they also have a dark side, one that has taken a huge toll on Australian wildlife.

01.01.2022 Australia's love affair with imported fresh flowers runs the risk of introducing deadly insect invaders into the country, warns Tim Low in the latest edition of our ebulletin the Feral Herald. Have a read!

01.01.2022 Four out of five Aussies would back environmental initiatives like weed removal to keep people in regional communities employed while we recover from the economic impacts of COVID-19.
