11.01.2022 The Tasmanian wine industry is still relatively young and was more or less considered a cottage industry back in the 90s. There is a saying in the industry that... " the best wines in Tasmania, may not have even been made yet". Who knows, maybe the Jordan Valley could be one of those exceptional new sub regions. Invercarron is a brand new vineyard planted only 3 years ago. Its located 45 minutes from Hobart in a pretty, hilly valley through which the Jordan River flows, with a micro climate that features relatively calm, warm days and cool night during the growing season. 2019 @invercarron_wines #pinotnoir The feature of this wine is it generosity of fruit at the point of entry with red cherries and blue berries. Its transitions to a savoury aspect of with dried herbs, mushrooms and wild undergrowth with orange peel also adds a spicy component. It has quite intense, concentrated flavours belying the vine age of only 3 years and it finishes with firm, grainy tannins that maintain strength and structure from start to finish. Its an #excellentwine and I'll be intrigued to follow this wine label over the coming vintages #jordanvalley #tasmania The Jones family have been farming this valley for 6 generations since 1818. Andrew Jones with his wife Karen recently bought the family property from his parents who were retiring. Andrew had built a highly successful Travel business and took the opportunity to change from a successful corporate life, to one on the land. His corporate instincts didn't desert him though and he's grown the Invercarron property, to also plant a vineyard to make wine, which is another passion in his life. After considerable site, soil testing and clone selection, they planted Pinot Noir Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. See more
05.01.2022 Aren’t we lucky to call this beautiful place home. Our north-facing block is perched high above the valley, meaning all day sun and spectacular panoramic views of the region. What an office! #jordanvalleytasmania #invercarronwines #coolclimatewines #tasmania
