10.01.2022 EISTEDDFOD UPDATE POSTPONED TENTATIVE DATES - 21.09.2020 to 05.10.2020 The Inverell Eisteddfod Society has held a meeting today inregards to our Eisteddfod due to commence in May 2020.... With the new Government regulations inregards to indoor events and the importance of considering the health & safety and well being of our competitors, families, adjudicator and volunteers the committee has made a decision to POSTPONE. The new proposed dates are 21st September 2020 - 5th October 2020. These dates will be divided up for Dance, Music, Speech & Drama. We understand you will all have many questions but we thought it was important to let everyone know as early as possible that we have made a decision to postpone. Our decision to postpone and not cancel is to give the competiors something to look forward to and continue working towards and our committee will endeavour working towards this goal. If you could hold off with your many questions such as refunds, entries etc until the committee hold another meeting this week where we will be discussing specific details that would be fabulous. Once all relevant information is finalised we will pass this information on. Many thanks for your understanding at this difficult time. Jo Cowley President Inverell Eisteddfod Society

02.01.2022 REMINDER Eisteddfod meeting tonight.. 7pm Inverell Music Centre, Moore Street.. Everyone welcome..

02.01.2022 ***** EISTEDDFOD UPDATE ***** After holding our eisteddfod committee meeting last week some tough decisions were required to be made. First the good news is the DANCE Eisteddfod will be going ahead but has been moved slightly forward to commence on Saturday 19 September 2020 until Tuesday 22 September 2020 (depending on entry numbers). We will only be able to run sections in solos, duos and trios and numbers for these sections WILL BE LIMITED so please if you haven’t ...entered yet it is a good idea to get your entries in asap. GROUP DAY CANCELLED SCHOOL SECTIONS CANCELLED As you can well imagine these days/sections cannot be run safely and within the current safe distancing rules. ALL MUSIC AND SPEECH & DRAMA SECTIONS - CANCELLED Unfortunately a very tough decision has had to be made that we will NOT be able to run any Music or Speech & Drama sections this year due to a number of reasons that made it impractical. Depending on government restrictions that may be in place at the time of the eisteddfod a number of additional measures such as temperature screening, Health Declaration Forms etc will/may need to be adhered to and the eisteddfod may move slower, and run slightly different to how it usually does. This is to protect the competitors, adjudicator and volunteers who are our priority. Inverell Eisteddfod Society is really trying hard to ensure the dance sections of the Inverell Eisteddfod goes ahead but I am sure you understand this is going to involve a lot of additional work both prior to and during the eisteddfod and we ask that everyone will need to be patient and strictly abide by rules that we are required to put in place to allow this event to happen. Due to the increase in government restrictions that we will need to follow all hands on deck will be required and ONE PARENT FROM EACH LOCAL COMPETITOR WILL BE ROSTERED TO ASSIST. There is no way the very small committee can do it on their own. Prior to the eisteddfod commencing we will place a notification on facebook with the guidelines that must be adhered to during the eisteddfod. If you have entered music or speech and drama or are no longer able to compete in the dance sections could you please email the Inverell Eisteddfod Committee on [email protected] to make arrangements for refunds for your entry fees to be issued. The deadline to request refunds will be Saturday 25 July 2020. Please be aware that if COVID rules are tightened up again we will need to reassess the holding of the dance sections of the eisteddfod. Looking forward to a friendly and safe eisteddfod. Keep safe Jo Cowley (President)

02.01.2022 Please understand that this has been a very difficult decision by the Inverell Eisteddfod Committee but unfortunately, we are extremely disappointed to announce that this year 2020 Eisteddfod has had to be cancelled. In view of the continued global spread of COVID-19, and as our event comes under the Covid-19 Safety Plan Cinemas, theatres and concert halls (including drive-in cinemas) and due to the venue size/layout we have realized we are unable to meet these restrictions p...hysically and we do not have the large number of volunteers that would be required to run the event safely. The Committee feels that it is our responsibility as a community organization to make sensible decisions and protect the health and safety of competitors, families, teachers, adjudicators, volunteers as well as our wider community. We believe that this decision is in the best interests of all concerned. We sympathize with the entrants that will no longer be able to perform at Inverell and realise not having the Eisteddfod this year is enormously disappointing to everyone involved but we look forward to having you all attend our Eisteddfod in 2021. As a kind gesture the Inverell Eisteddfod Society will absorb both the administrative and Paypal fees and all entrants will receive a full refund. Please be patient as it may take a little time to process all the refunds. Stay Safe and look after each other. Jo Cowley President Inverell Eisteddfod Society
