22.01.2022 VIEWING PLATFORMS AT COPETON NORTHERN FORESHORES The first of the viewing platforms is being constructed by local tradies at Copeton Northern Foreshores. The Northern Foreshores on Auburn Vale Road will be closed to the public on Friday 2 October, 2020. The dam will be open the following day (day visits only). This project is supported by the NSW Government.
20.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE - YETMAN'S NEW MURAL Renowned mural artist John Murray has completed a new piece of public art in Yetman. The Lightning Ridge based artist is known for creating artworks with a sense of fun and the recent Yetman work is no exception, with a fishing kangaroo promoting local angling opportunities while two emus watch on. Inverell Shire Council mayor Paul Harmon says he’s delighted with the final result. Overlooking the car park and visible from the road, John’...s work will encourage those passing through to pull over, take a break and maybe spend a few dollars in Yetman. 20.01.2022 A BIG congratulations to Ben Milson (centre) who today won the NAIDOC Apprentice of the Year Award presented by the Inverell-Tingha NAIDOC Committee. Ben is pictured below with Mayor Paul Harmon & James Sheather from the NAIDOC Committee. Ben is employed with Council as a Relieving Operator / General Assistant and since joining Council in May last year, he's shown aptitude, commitment and enthusiasm. He's currently completing a Certificate III Civil Construction (Plant Ope...rations) and has already completed the following certificates and licences: - Implementing Traffic Control Plans - Traffic Controllers licence - Asbestos Awareness - Leading an Operational Works Team - Working in Confined Spaces - Safe Work Near Power Lines - Chemical Application - Heavy Rigid Truck Licence. 18.01.2022 UPDATE - ONE LANE OPEN ON GWYDIR HIGHWAY The Gwydir Highway now has one lane open and is under traffic control between Bertha Street and Froude Street due to a house fire. Swan Street is also closed between Warialda Road and Urabatta Street. Motorists can detour around the site via Bannockburn Road and Jardine Road.

09.01.2022 WATER MANAGEMENT REGULATOR TO VISIT PROPERTIES The Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) has announced they will visit properties in the Ashford, Goondiwindi, Texas, Mungindi, Tenterfield, Glen Innes and Upper Horton areas in December 2020 to observe water management practices. NRAR’s Director Water Regulation West Gregory Abood encourages landholders in the areas to check their compliance with water laws before the regulator visits their properties. Landholders in Goondiwindi, Texas, Mungindi, Tenterfield, Ashford, Glen Innes and Upper Horton can expect a visit from the routine monitoring team in the coming weeks, so now is a good time for them to consider if their water management practices are compliant." 08.01.2022 The new public amenities are being installed at Copeton Dam Northern Foreshores as part of the $5.7M upgrade. Check out our clip below which shows progress ahead of the Long Weekend. 04.01.2022 Terrific to host a visit this morning from Adam Marshall MP to officially open the recent upgrades at the Lake. Improvements include wheelchair friendly paths, viewing areas, boardwalk and a kayak launch facility. This project has been supported by the NSW Government and involved local tradespeople, designers and Council staff.
