21.01.2022 Last weekend we paid special thanks to our beaut Mum’s & Nan’s. Today, we recognise some more super caring and helpful people in our lives - our ES (Education Support) Staff - on World ES Day! At IPS - Karen, Deb, Cath, Chaplain Pete & Gardener Rob are our Education Support team and together they make a huge contribution to the wellbeing and effective running of our school, supporting staff, students & families - educationally, socially and emotionally. ... From breaky club to book club; first aid to finance; wellbeing to welding; and literacy support to lawn mowing - they help make our days at IPS run seamlessly and are always there to assist when needed. Cath, Deb & Kaz are our golden girls, Pete & Rob our diamonds in the rough. A sneaky special mention also to Miss S (Semonne), who has filled in for us regularly over the last 12 months whenever one of our very own ES team are on leave or away at training. Thanks for all that you do for our students, school & community

18.01.2022 Today is R U Okay Day It’s a reminder to start a conversation that could change a life today, tomorrow and any day it's needed. While it's so important to ask others R U OK?, it's also vital to know what to say after to keep the conversation going. We know this year has been especially hard for our community and we would like you all to know that we are here for you. It could be a chat on the phone or a quick conversation at drop off or pick up. You can also head to https://www.ruok.org.au for more ways to keep the conversation going. Please take care of yourselves & your buddies

18.01.2022 What a wonderful night each of our Gr 6 students have had. Each student delivered their speeches and photo reel very professionally in front of family and staff and they should be proud of themselves. Congratulations to our Gr 6 graduating class of 2020 - Lily, Erin, Brian, Nathan, Ben, Seth & Will! We wish them well for their future.

16.01.2022 A nice project outcome by Mr B’s Maths Class over the last month. - Design tessellated patterns to fill an empty garden space next to their classroom. - Measure up. - Order pavers. - Prepare the base (with gardener Rob & Mr M’s help)... ... and today, lay the pavers and add decorative pebble. Re-locate a bench and chairs, then enjoy our first lunch order on our new relax pad. Great work TBirds! Noah, Hazel, Damia, Dania, Dilana, Donna, Lucy, Harry, Brian, Ryder, Adrea, Henry, Nathan, Lily #projectsbykids See more

16.01.2022 Our Grade 2-3’s dabbled in some sewing in Art today, practising their technique of a backstitch. They each had a piece of hessian where they drew a star to backstitch around. This is readiness for their main task, which is to draw an outline of their choice and to sew around the outline. Whilst this task was challenging for many students, I loved their perseverance! Well done T-Birds!

16.01.2022 This week was Science Week and the theme was Deep Blue: Innovations for the future of our oceans. Our literacy tasks this week centred around this theme, with a particular focus on ocean pollution; how it is harmful and what we can do to reduce the amount of plastic we use and therefore ends up in our oceans. After reading the story Alba The Hundred Year Old Fish, Grade 2 student Siena took action! From now on she has decided to collect rubbish she finds on her daily walks. Way to go Siena! I am very proud of your initiative and would love to see more photos of anyone in the school community doing the same!

15.01.2022 What you might have missed in the last few weeks.

13.01.2022 Mr B's Senior Maths designed and built bridges this week as part of a unit on Mass. The overall aim was to make them strong enough to hold as much weight as possible. Everyone did a fantastic job!

10.01.2022 2021 leadership presentations were held today. All of the students who nominated for a leading role next year did an amazing job. We will now interview all students before finalising positions, which will be revealed at our final assembly. #GoTBirds

07.01.2022 Senior Reading In Reading this week the Seniors have been working on locating key words, taking notes and summarising both fiction and non-fiction texts. Our first activity this week required us to think of 8 key words we would use to describe ourselves and to draw a self portrait. Check them out!

04.01.2022 Sneak peek of our newly installed office, staffroom, arts & first aid relocatables. Still a number of jobs to be completed to the interiors over coming days, however we hope to be able to begin moving our equipment across next Tuesday. An amazing result in just over a week - since first being informed of the extent of termite damage in our current admin building.

04.01.2022 Each Friday afternoon throughout Semester 1, our Gr 5-6 birds have been working with STEM staff from https://jnrengineers.com.au Today was the culmination of our 9 weeks of coding & learning. Our MicroBit coding lessons have taught us how to code and create messages, images & symbols on our very own miniature Microbit billboards. Thanks to Renu & Peter Reghenzani for facilitating. #techsperts #STEM... #create #explore #InvermayPS #JuniorEngineers See more

03.01.2022 This week Miss Booth’s Maths class have been planning how to run our own donut shops. We had to buy ingredients, design the donuts and sell them and see how much money we made. At the end of the planning, we voted on our own favourite toppings, drew some graphs and then made our very own donuts! Thank you so much to Bake & Grind for providing some of their delicious donuts for ya to decorate!

03.01.2022 Problem Solving Friday Can you solve these problems? The Grade 3/4 Maths class smashed it!

03.01.2022 Senior Maths have loved being back in the classroom. We have been following up with our work on fractions which began during remote learning. We built a street and then coded the Lego Rover to park a certain distance along the street e.g. two thirds along the street. It has been amazing being able to discuss and problem solve our math as a class!

02.01.2022 Mr B really hopes he gets a few pairs of shoes coming his way once these kicks hit the market! Well done Senior Literacy!
