25.01.2022 Why do the tartan socks cost so much? Here's a great video to help you appreciate the time, effort and skill that goes into producing a pair. My mum, Lilian McBean, made many pairs for myself, my daughter and of course my dancers. As with this video she often had to dye the wool as you need just the right colour, and spin the marled colours together. Mum did the knitting by hand, not machine. And as you know she also made kilts.
